"My turn!"
This universe version of Spider-Man placed his mask over his face. Taking a quick shot using his webbing and landed on the top of the Daily Planet.
"My name is Peter Lane. And your first assumption would be the correct one. In the son of Lois Lane."
Lois Lane was currently on the job reporting a space exposition gone wrong. Lex Luthor sent out a rocket to look into a meteorite that was passing by and had signs of life on board. But the rocket on its return had a malfunction and Superman went to save it. He was able to help the shuttle, but there was some fuel leakage that caused an explosion that claimed the lives of the asteroids.
"That was three weeks ago. Superman hasn't been spotted or even made any appearances anywhere. And the crime rate has only gotten worse since his absence. That's where I come in."
Peter was on a field trip, fixing his glasses when a spider crawled up his arm.
"I was bitten by a genetically altered spider."
The spider did just that and Peter winced in pain.
"And I am just starting out as the city's one and only... Spider-Man."
Peter then quickly raced up and did some parkour on the upside of the building and shot a substance out of a device on his wrist. The figure then swung across the city and landed just outside a spotlight.
"And then one night, something weird happened... probably not the weird what you're thinking of."
Lifting the mask up, he frantically panted to show this was his first time testing out this suit and gadgets. He was a fifteen-year-old boy with light short dark hair.
As he started to cool down, his phone started to ring, and he quickly pulled it out of his suit: JIMMY
Knowing he couldn't let it go to voicemail, he quickly answered it and acted like he didn't run a marathon. "Hey, Jimmy." He then heard what the photographer said on the other end. "Figured Mom would wonder where I was. Tell her I am just on my way home. I'll be there by the time she arrives." He then heard what he had to say and nodded. "Don't worry. I'm just out for a walk. When was the last time something bad happened to someone in Metropolis?" Then he hears what Jimmy had to say on the other end. "Okay, besides the time that my mom got kidnapped by the Joker. If anything, that was Batman's fault. I think if that guy stayed in Gotham, that clown wouldn't have come here."
He then hangs up and saw he got a text from his mother
Peter, you better be home before I get there.
Peter rolled his eyes and chuckled as he started to make his way home.
Is the famous Lois Lane really worried I'll get attacked?
Get home. Now.
Yes, Ma'am.
"My biggest question is who's going to protect us now?"
Peter then smiled as he pulled his mask down, racing his way down the street. Then he leaped and made his way back through the city to make it back home.
The Watcher finally revealed himself again as he looked down at the chaos going on across all of the BRANCHES. He was starting to become worried as he knew the power and challenge Morlun possessed with him.
"This shouldn't be happening. None of this should be possible." The Watcher says as he was worried about what this could mean across the BRANCHES. "I don't know what is going to happen. I don't know what can happen. The rules have been shattered. Yet... I still cannot interfere."
But as Peter was making his way home, there was a certain someone who was making herself known. With the threat of Superman spoiling the fun for criminals, more small-timers had the chance to make a name for themselves.
This new amateur appears to be an attractive, teenage girl with white hair, green eyes, and fair skin. She wears a black domino mask, and a black-latex jumpsuit with white fur around the top half of the suit as well as on her sleeves and legs.
She was just outside of a jewelry store and raised a finger, pulling out a claw from the tip of her finger, then traced a circle across the glass. Once completed, she then pulled out the piece and sneaked her way inside with ease.
Once she got inside the store, she started to descend off of a line she has connected to her belt so that she doesn't trip off the systems. Once she got further enough inside, she pulled out a canister and opened it to release a gas that revealed the lasers on the floor.
"A school has better security than this." She commented and opened a case with the jewelry inside to steal it.
Peter was swinging home when his super-senses (name in progress) went off and got his attention. He noticed the hole in the glass and knew that it didn't take an expert to know that meant there was trouble. Knowing he could come up with some quick excuse later why he was home late, he quickly changed directions and landed on the roof.
Noticing the Cat Burglar, he quickly descends from the ceiling on a web and shot out a web to her bag. "I know what they say about diamonds and girls, but I always saw it as more of a metaphor."
"Well, I believe we haven't been acquainted yet." The Cat Burglar said with glee in her voice to see the new mask in town. "Thought the only man in red and blue around here was Superman."
She ended up letting go of one of her lines to go around and swinging over to dangle upside down aside from Peter. Their strings were starting to collide and wrap up as Peter was trying to figure out what to do.
"Easy, kitty-cat. I don't wanna fight." Peter said, not sure if he even knows how to fight.
"The name's Black Cat." She introduced herself as she grabbed onto his suit. "And cats don't fight spiders." She then kicked the spider, sending him flying across the room. "We just bat them around!"
The newly named Black Cat then landed on the wall, using her line to start running up the wall. Peter shot two webs to stop himself from landing on the ground and quickly caught himself. But seems this new girl saw his move coming and moved fast to avoid it and leaped off the wall. Peter then leaped off the ceiling and met her halfway.
Seems she was given training in some way as when the two of them met in the middle, he used his legs to kick her. But she also mimicked his actions and the two were sent flying across the opposite ends of the room they started from.
Peter however was sent flying as she was hooked to a rope, giving her less maneuvering room than Peter has. He shot his way back and tried to catch her, which ended in her spinning around and shattering one of the cases, causing some of the glass to fall and set off the actual alarms.
The Black Cat then attracted her claws and went to try and slice Spider-Man, taking a chunk of his suit with her. Seeing she was clawing onto the wall and giving him an opening; Peter quickly shot a web to attach her to the wall.
"Oh, you better not get your goop in my hair." Black Cat warns him as she used her claws to rip herself free, taking part of the wall with her.
'Note to self: readjust the formula.'
"Don't worry, it comes off in ice or peanut butter." Peter quipped as he swung back towards her.
"Lovely." Black Cat commented as she leaped off the wall.
The two of them then met in the middle of the room again with her continuing to dangle and Peter hanging off a web he attached to the ceiling.
"You've got quite the skill set, Spider. Do you want in on this gig? We can split the take 50/50." Black Cat offered to the rookie.
"Gig? Take? These words are...strange to me." Peter didn't know what to think about the offer.
"This is my first gig, and I tend not to screw it off." Black Cat commented to the boy. "A certain captain of industry is looking for money for something to do with finding something that has unlimited scientific potential."
"Are you sure he was a true captain of industry?" Peter asked as he flipped and landed on one of the cases. "Or was he some industrial cadet trying to show off for the girls?"
Peter then shot out some webbing to wrap up her arms, trying to keep her here for when the police finally arrived. What is taking them so long? But the webbing didn't hold her for long as Black Cat was sent swinging around the room.
"Oh, I know when a man is showing off!" Black Cat said sarcastically as she came swinging back and spun to kick Peter back. "What do you say, hot stuff, don't you want a slice of the mud pie?"
"It's tempting, but then I would have to turn in my recently received superhero discount card..." Peter listed off as he tried to catch up with her.
"Too bad." Black Cat says as she used Peter's second attempt to stop her to rip free of the webbing, grabbing onto the roof. "I like us together."
"But we've only just met," Peter commented. "And I'm not that kind of Spider."
"Give a cat a chance." Black Cat says as she swung back, kicking Peter and sending him falling. "And she'll make you that kind of spider."
"Stop, you're making me blush," Peter commented as he tried to get her back away from the roof.
Then the doors burst open, and a few officers aimed at the two. "Freeze!"
"What?" Peter was distracted by the cops and ended up getting kicked by Black Cat who also took notice of the two officers.
"Two is a company, three and more is a collaborating witness," Black Cat said as she then descends into the roof and left the Spider and cops.
"Great," Petr groaned as his super-sensed picked up on something else. "Whoa!"
The cops then started to open fire on Peter, seemingly expecting him to be an accomplice for the Black Cat. He saw that he needed to find a way out of there, as well as the fact there was still that cat burglar out there.
Looking around, he started to see there wasn't any other escape other than the one that Black Cat made for herself. But he still needed to get past the cops with guns that have him cornered behind jewelry displays.
Then he got an idea when he looked down at the web canisters attached to his sleeves. Once the chemicals come into contact with air, they will expand and are capable of containing individuals. In the state the substance is in right now, it wouldn't hold them for long, but it would be long enough for him to escape. Removing one of the canisters, he quickly stood up and tossed it at the cops.
Once they saw Peter, they took a few shots but didn't have enough time to get a good shot when the canister exploded. The webbing formula exploded and encased the cops, their guns, and just about everything in the vicinity was encased in the formula.
Getting an opening, Peter used his one good Web shooter to pull him out and slingshot into the air. Getting a good look at the vicinity around him, Peter noticed that the Black Cat was still nearby. But on his way down was another scary story as he slammed and rolled across the roof.
Walking off the pain of his first fall, Peter raced after the Black Cat as she was just a rooftop away from him now. Black Cat turned around and smiled as she watched the boy chase after him.
"Took you long enough." Black Cat commented as she then used a grapple to swing across the roof gaps while Peter just leaped across. She was impressed at how skilled and powerful the boy was and got an idea when she saw train tracks. "Looks like I've gotta play harder to get."
When she reached the end of the roof, she looked down at the tracks and clutched onto the bag of jewels as she allowed Peter to catch up. When he landed on the roof, Peter started to walk over toward her.
Black Cat smiled as she decided to mess with the boy and looked back over at him. "Like the view?" Peter immediately stopped in his tracks at that comment, not sure if she was referring to the city or to... her. "It's the only thing you'll catch tonight."
Peter raised his hands and gestured around them. "Where are you gonna go?" He saw there was no way out for her and continued to stroll over. "Come on, don't be a sore loser. Admit defeat and give up the jewels."
"Oh, like any other man, you're just after my jewels." Black Cat mocked the boy and leaned back over the balcony. "And here I thought you were different."
"What?" Peter stopped walking as he was confused by the comment. "I was...I was referring to... stop twisting my words!"
Black Cat then waved him goodbye before doing a back roll and falling off of the roof. Peter gasped and ran up to her and tried to catch her when he ran up to the edge of the building. But when he looked down at where she fell, he noticed that she landed on the end of a train and was making her escape.
"Okay... and then there were two," Peter commented as he didn't expect there to be two teens with masks. But then as he looked up at the train tracks, he noticed that they intercepted near LexCorp. He then started to recall what she told him back in the jewelry store. "A captain of industry..."
Lex Luthor.
He likes to tie up loose ends using other loopholes to escape the law.
Could he be using the money for the jewels Black Cat stole to cover up his company's involvement in something?
Is it related to what happened to Superman?
Did Lex capture him?
But then his phone went off and interrupted his train of thought as he pulled it out to see who was calling. To no surprise, it was his mom.
He was in so much trouble.
He didn't know if it was better to answer the phone and get her wrath now, or to wait until he got home to receive it in person. Answer the call, and he receives a portion of the yelling now and the rest later.
But just as he was going to answer the call, he had what felt like a sudden glitch within his super-senses. It was like an itch that came into his mind that he can't scratch. He started to look around and wonder where or what caused them to glitch like that.
He can't stay around to figure it out. He needed to get home, and hopefully isn't going to be grounded for life. The time was going to be cut short due to the fact he has one web shooter, but he was going to have to make up for that.
A few streets down, just underneath the subway, a rip in time and space opened as Morlun ended up stepping through it. The background of the vastness of space started to close up just as Morlun stepped into the new universe. The minute he stepped into the new world, he started to sniff the air and got to looking for the scent of this world's Spider-Man.
"Where are you?" Morlun whispers.
Peter quickly swung his way to his mother's apartment complex and landed on the roof where he keeps a backpack for him to change into, just in case he needed it. In this case, he kinda did as he ended up leaving the house earlier in his suit without a change of clothes. Racing down the stairwell, he reached his door and used the key he carries on him to sneak inside.
Walking into the house, he knew he was going to hear about it from his mom when he walked in just for the lights to turn on. Freezing right in the middle of the room, Peter looked over and saw his mother sitting in the reclining chair in the middle of the living room. He could see the stern look on her face and knew that she wasn't happy with him for being out this late.
Ever since the Man of Steel had gone missing, Lois has started to worry for Peter's safety even more than usual. Being the center of attention a lot of the time, she gets more than a few enemies wanting some payback.
"Hey." Peter greeted his mother.
"Where were you?" Lois asks him.
"Sorry. I was just out and didn't notice the time. I had to stop somewhere to charge my phone and was going to call in." Peter quickly tried to come up with a lie. "But then this weird thief thing happened and the cops had to ask me some questions about some girl in a catsuit stealing jewels."
"A what did what?" Lois asks them.
"Yeah, it was this whole thing. So I've been stuck with them for a minute." Peter quickly explains to her.
Lois sighed and knew she couldn't really be mad at him for what was out of his control. She could still be mad at him for being out this late, but Peter always tended to wander off a little. A perk she believes he ended up getting from her.
He definitely didn't get it from his father.
His father. That was a sensitive subject. Peter would constantly be bullied for the fact he didn't have one when he was little. Rumors constantly floated around about who ended up getting it on with the great reporter Lois Lane to this day.
Fifteen years later, nobody has anything else to do with their lives but spread rumors of someone else's life.
Peter was never told who his father was. Lois said it was better for everyone to not know. That it was for his safety.
"Right." Lois sighed as she stood up. "Just... get to bed. I've got to get to work on this Cassidy interview tomorrow."
"I don't feel right about that." Peter quickly interjected his thoughts. "Especially with Superman gone, you tend to drag danger with you."
"Well, you're not wrong." Lois had to agree with her son as she walked over to check her bag for the morning.
"I'm not?" Peter was surprised to hear.
"I gave birth to you, didn't I?" Lois told him with a snarky smile.
Peter couldn't help but laugh at how bad that joke was. "Okay. That's hurtful."
"But factually correct," Lois responded and headed off to bed.
Peter sighed and decided to follow her and head to his own bed. Whatever went down between him and the Cat Girl can be handled tomorrow.
In the early morning, a few buildings away from where Morlun arrived, the final portal opened up and sent the Spiders spewing out. Groaning as he stood up, Peter Allen tried to find his footing after the weirdest moment of his life.
"I feel like I'm gonna puke." Peter Allen warns them.
"Yeah, I know." Peter Supreme groaned as he tried to stand on his own. "You'll get used to it."
"Okay." Peter Parker groaned as he tried to stand. "Let's never let you drive again."
"You wanna learn the powers of the mystic arts and open trans-dimensional portals by absorbing energy from the Mirror? Be my guest, buddy." Peter Supreme stated as he shook it off.
Gwen was the only one who got the worst of it. She was currently hacking out her lungs over a flowerpot. "Next time..." she then hacked up a bit more of her lungs into the pot. "...give us a warning."
"I did." Peter Supreme tells his counterparts as he started to look and noticed no more portals forming. This was indicating Morlun is indeed here in this BRANCH of reality. "We took the long way around the universe, so there's no telling how big of a head start Morlun has on us."
"So... what do we do now?" Peter Allen asks as he walked up to him, still trying to find his footing.
"We've gotta find the Spider-Man of this world. Or Woman. Or animal. Or tyrannosaurus." Peter Supreme listed the constant Spider-Heroes he's come across in the multiverse. But that last statement of the dinosaur got their attention. "Whoever that might be."
"Where are we?" Peter Parker asks as he looked around the landscape.
"If I had to guess...Metropolis." Peter Supreme said as he gestured to the Daily Planet building. "Now we gotta find out where their Arachnid is."
"One person in a city of a million people." Peter Parker scoffed as he tried to stand straight. "This'll be fun."
"Don't worry, I know how to cut the time down." Peter Supreme said as he then plucked one of their hairs, causing them to groan.
"Hey!"
"What the heck?"
"That ain't cool!"
Peter Supreme then created a spell that turned their strands into a small flame. It then zoomed off down the streets and left a trail for them to follow.
"What was that?" Gwen asks.
"A tracking spell. It'll search for the same strand of DNA similar to all three of you. In this case, the Spider DNA." Peter Supreme explains to them and started to walk off. "Come on. We've got a long way ahead of us."
The other three just decided to shrug it off and follow the Mystic Spider-Man. This was the strangest experience they'd ever had, and they couldn't wait to actually get a look at this strange new world they were in.
As the people around were starting to get about their everyday lives, Peter Allen stuck his head out of the corner of an alley. He looked around and noticed that there was nobody nearby and sneaked back into the alley.
"Looks like he's nowhere nearby." Peter Allen assured the crew.
Peter Supreme was using his powers to open portals to some places where he could sneak them some clothes. None of them carried any clothes on them underneath their suits, so they didn't have any way of fitting in.
"Find out what fits you, and make sure they can cover your suits." Peter Supreme warned the group.
"Got it, dad." Gwen mocked his stern tone. The way he was being so strict on their clothing reminded her of her father when she wore too short a skirt for his liking. "I'll be sure to run away from all the boys."
"You gonna be like this the entire time?" Peter Supreme asks her. "Reminder: you could have stayed behind."
"I thought it was funny." Peter Parker admitted.
"Don't encourage her." Peter Supreme stated as he flipped the Cloak of Levitation, turning his Sorcerer suit into casual clothing. "Just get dressed."
After getting things sorted, Lois made her way to Slabside Penitentiary where she was supposed to have her first talk with Cletus Kasady. The Carnage Killer. The man who murders slaughters, and on occasion eat his victims!
As she made her way through the Super maximum prison, she was led through the many cells with a guard aside her. She was led to a laser gate that was literally a gate made of lasers. When the guard walked up to it, the lasers allowed him past without even touching him.
Lois had to freeze for a second and look at the gate in fear and the guard took notice. "Walk through. The laser parts for authorized people."
Lois decided to just go with his suggestion and walked through the lasers. The lasers indeed parted in her form to let her pass, causing Lois to sigh in relief. He leads her down the halls and towards the cell of the Carnage Killer. He asked to speak to her personally, and that immediately got everyone's attention.
Cletus hasn't spoken to anyone in twenty years since he was first institutionalized. Then one day he says he would only speak to Lois Lane of the Daily Bugle, and everyone jumped at the opportunity to close some unsolved cases.
"You ask me, they're dumb to let this psychopath call the shots." The guard informed Lois. "Second asked for you to interview him, I'd have shut him down there and then."
"We'll, you know the FBI." Lois shrugged as she took her notepad and pen out of her bag. "They're taking advantage of the only time he agreed to speak to anyone. They just hope that agreeing to his terms will help them identify some additional bodies and even where a few body's locations left undiscovered."
"FBI don't work up and personal with him." The guard scoffed as they reached the door. "The FBI will have to identify you if you don't follow the procedures."
"Relax, this isn't my first time dealing with a psychopath," Lois stated, remembering her brief history of dating Lex Luthor.
The guard then unlocks the door with two other guards and allowed her to walk inside. "Got a visitor for you, Red!"
Lois walked into the room and saw a giant cylinder glass container in the middle of the room with a yellow box drawn around it. That was meant to be the barrier that she wasn't meant to cross, or alarms would blare.
Lois became immediately disturbed by the killer when she noticed that there was a message drawn out of blood:
WELCOME LOIS
The Carnage Killer then looked over to Lois with a smile. "Hello, Ms. Lane."
"Hello, Mr. Kasady?" Lois decided to go with it as an opening.
"Do you mind if we forgo the whole creepy serial killer thing?" Cletus asked of her.
"Sure." Lois decided to go with what he said to get him talking. "It's fine with me."
"I mean, I can turn it on if you want." Cletus offered her. "I can talk about the... Dadaist patterns of arterial spray."
"I believe you," Lois replied as she started to pace back and forth.
"Tough to see you in the light, Lois," Cletus said, keeping his eyes on her as she kept walking. "You mind stepping a bit closer?"
"Sure." Lois decided as she took a step closer. "See me any better?"
"Yes." Cletus confirmed.
"So... what did you want to talk about?" Lois asks him.
"I want you to get my story out there," Cletus tells her, getting to the point quickly. "But first...get a message out there. To all my fans. Then...if you come back...I'll give you my life's story."
Lois was surprised to hear this and walked up to the yellow line. "I'm listening."
Peter was currently crouching down over the nearest building to the prison. He was dressed in his suit and was worried about what could happen if his mother was killed by this freak.
You'd think he'd believe in the security of this place, but it's exactly the opposite. Everyone is constantly escaping this prison, which is why they are planning to transfer Cletus to Arkham Asylum in Gotham.
Because that's a better place to send him.
How many times had the Joker escaped in the past two months alone?
But then his head started to scratch, but nothing like when his spider senses go off. It was like there was a glitch in his head.
And just before he could blink, he was being held up by the neck. Morlun had located him quickly and had already gotten to him.
"Hmm. A different taste." Morlun mocked as he started to suck the life force out of him. "But I was never a picky eater."
Peter struggled to fight back against his sudden attacker, but he couldn't as his strength was too much to fight against. Morlun was sucking the life out of him when he suddenly smelled something familiar.
Quickly stopping the feeding process, Peter was given a moment to start and regain his head. Morlun was looking at the area as he was smelling around, trying to locate the scent.
It took him a moment, but he finally recognized the scent. "Sorcerer..."
Then out of nowhere, a portal opened up above him and a bus came flying through. The bus came and crashed into Morlun and causing him to drop Peter in the process. As Peter was falling to the ground, weakened by the feeding process, he was reduced by Gwen as she came swinging in.
"Got ya!" Gwen promised as she landed on the side of the same building.
"What the heck is going on?" Peter Lane asks her.
"Long story!" Gwen said as she starts to swing away. "Just hang on!"
Morlun came blasting out of the bus and picked up a chunk of it. Looking around, he noticed Gwen trying to escape with this world's Spider-Man. He threw the chunk of bus towers them and waited for the impact.
Gwen sensed the bus part coming her way and knew that she wasn't going to be able to dodge it in time. That's when Peter Allen came swinging in and shot a web at the part, throwing it back at Morlun.
Morlun was going to grab the piece when he was suddenly blinded by Peter Parker, who came in swinging and tried to hold down Morlun's hand.
Peter Supreme came stepping out of another portal just as Morlun grabbed and tossed Parker towards Gwen. Since they were invisible to each other's senses, they ended up making contact and fell to the ground.
Supreme then quickly tried to use The Sacred Sword of Vishanti to stab Morlun and fight back.
But when he swung the sword, Morlun moved out of its way and dodged the hit. Peter went in and swing at him from the side, but all that did was allow Morlun the chance to grab the sword.
Once he did, Peter Allen came back around and started to shoot webbing at his back. Peter Supreme gave him a hand by using Rings of Raggadorr as stepping stones so he didn't need to constantly swing around to do it.
As Peter Allen kept getting closer, he was constantly shooting webbing as Morlun tried to block the webs and block the sword from Supreme.
Morlun ended up getting stabbed in the hip from the constant attacks from both ends, but it wasn't enough to break the skin. Peter Supreme then realized his spells weren't going to be enough to stop him.
But then Peter Allen came back with the second part of the mission and placed a bomb on the back of Morlun. The two of them then ran as Supreme opened a portal for them, far away from this particular battle.
"Sayonara!" Peter Allen proclaimed as he jumped into the portal.
Supreme followed him and closed the portal behind them. The moment that they left, the bomb went off and went webbing spewing everywhere to keep Morlun occupied for a minute or two.
Supreme just opens the portal as Allen dropped through and he followed. Peter dropped down and landed in his stands whilst Supreme floated down using the Cloak.
"Oh, god." Peter Allen noticed the three other Spider-People were hurt. "Are they okay?"
Supreme did a quick check of them as he walked over and looked for anything broken. They were strong and had powers to prevent this, but when Morlun was involved, the rules were different.
"They should be fine," Supreme promised him. "We've gotta move. Morlun will be here any second."
Opening a portal to the farthest part of the city, he used his powers to lift the heroes and drag them through the portal.
When they walked through, Peter Allen looked around and felt as if he knew this place. "Isn't this the Daily Bugle?"
"No." Peter Supreme corrected him, placing down the three other heroes. "This is the Daily Planet."
The group was currently standing on the roof of the most famous newspaper outlet in the world. Their world at least.
"What's the difference?" Peter Allen wonders.
"Jameson doesn't own this one," Supreme replied.
"Well, that makes it completely different." Peter Allen mocked sarcastically.
"Ow." Peter Parker groaned in pain.
"Hey, you okay?" Allen asked as he walked over and went to help his double up.
"Yeah," Parker confirmed as he groaned and tried to stand up. "I'm good. Just a bit of pain everywhere. A step up from usually feeling a whole lot of pain in one specific area."
Supreme didn't seem to even notice he was awake as he was more focused on Gwen. He removed her mask and saw she was starting to wake up from the hit.
"You okay?" Supreme asked her, worried about losing her again.
Gwen groaned as she looked and saw the concern on his face. "Yeah." She decided to go with. "I'm fine. Are you?"
"Yeah," Supreme promised as he stood up and held his hand for her to take. "Come on."
"What about him?" Gwen asked as she looked at Peter Lane. "Is be okay?"
"Let's see..." Peter Supreme said as he walked over and started to read his mind. "He's alive. And he's only been given these powers for a few weeks."
"What does that matter?" Parker wonders.
"It means that he can't defend himself like the rest of us. We've all been Spiders for at least a year or longer, so we know how our powers work. He's barely a month into his powers. Morlun picked him faster because he was less skilled." Peter Supreme stated, trying to explain it to them.
"Hey." Peter Lane got their attention. "I resent that."
"Oh, he's awake." Peter Supreme was happy to say and dropped him.
"Hey, you okay?" Gwen asked as she walked over and kneeled and looked him over. "You got pretty close over there."
"What... what was that?" Peter Lane asked as he looked at the alternative Spider-People. "Who are you?"
"We're Spider-Man. And Girl." Peter Allen explains to his counterpart. "We are here to protect you from that freak who just attacked you."
"You're all from another universe?" Peter Lane asked as he looked at them all. "The same universe?"
"Technically, we're all from different realities," Gwen added.
"Yeah, and we've been attacked by that guy before." Peter Allen admitted. "He's after your life."
"Really? Why?" Peter Lane wonders. "I've only fought like one person so far, I failed to stop her. So, I doubt I angered him."
"He's here to kill you because that's the only way that he can feed," Supreme explains to him. "He feeds off of our lives as if we were food. It powers him. Makes him stronger. With every life he takes, the closer we get to losing."
"Really?" Gwen asked him. "We're trying to assure him, not scare him."
"He should be scared. His life is threatened." Supreme proclaimed.
"Your guys' bedside manner needs some work." Peter Lane informed them. "I mean, I'm right here."
"Yeah, we know, kid," Supreme stated as he looked over toward him. "Just hang back. The grownups are talking."
"Grownups?" Peter Lane asks as he looked around at the other three Spiders. "You guys look like you've got about a few months, maybe a year, on me."
"He's not wrong." Peter Allen admitted as he had to agree with Lane.
"Counterpoint, no, he's not," Supreme replied. "We're more experienced than him."
"Yeah, okay, you do know we should maybe explain to him who that guy is?" Peter Parker asks him.
"We did," Supreme replied.
"You explained what he wants, not who he is." Peter Lane added on. "My Mom's a Politzer-winning reporter. I know what questions and missing information I should be looking for."
Supreme groaned and rubbed his head and knew they weren't going to let this go. "Morlun is a monster from another dimension, he feeds off of the life force since we have a connection to the universe due to our powers. We are here to stop him from feeding off your life, essentially ending your life in the process."
Peter Lane took a moment and started to let the information that he was just told sink in. Informed that he was going to be killed if this man ended up getting his hands on him and making him stronger in the process.
"Alright. Makes sense." Peter Lane shrugged.
"Wait, really?" Peter Allen asks. "That's it?"
"Well, you're telling the truth, I can see that much. It might not make sense, but it's the truth." Peter Lane shrugged. "So, how do we stop him?"
"We're not sure as of yet." Peter Supreme was sorry to say. "All we need to do is chase him out of this universe and I can set this off. "He showed off what looked like a mystical grenade. "It's the same spell I used to make sure he couldn't go back to your worlds inside of a mystical container. Hit this button, the spell goes off, and Morlun can never return here."
"When did you have time to do that?" Gwen questioned as she looked over the magic bomb.
"You guys took forever to get the clothes on." Supreme mocked as he made the bomb disappear. "But we've got to keep our eyes peeled, Morlun can come at us at any second from anywhere."
Then they heard the screams of terror from downstairs and looked to see a bunch of people running from the building. Taking a second, they all look at one another and all seemed to come to the same conclusion: Morlun.
Peter Supreme walked off the edge and started to float his way down whilst the others followed. All of them leaped off the roof in their own unique ways as Gwen leaped with her legs crouched and her arms raised. Peter Allen leaped and did a side flip as he made his way down. Peter Parker did a simple dive and made his way down faster. Peter Lane watched them and tried to mimic their epic leap and ended up rolling off the roof incidentally.
Peter Supreme then made it to the floor where all the destruction came from, and he saw that Morlun was holding Perry White by the throat and was choking him. Seems that the glass was either blocking the scent or he wasn't smelling for them as he hasn't spotted the Sorcerer.
"I know the Spider-Man is here!" Morlun stated to Perry. "Now who is he?"
"I don't know who you're talking about." Perry choked out. "I don't know who he is."
"You're lying!" Morlun stated and got ready to kill him.
"Hey, ugly!" Peter Lane called out to the supernatural being. Morlun turned to see this world's Spider-Man as he threw a table at him. "You looked!"
Morlun tossed Perry out of the way as he took the table to the face and shattered fragments went flying everywhere. While the pieces were flying, Peter Lane used it as cover as he leaped in and kicked the monster in the face.
"I can't believe you actually looked!" Peter Lane called out as he webbed and grabbed onto Morlun from behind. "I mean, I insulted you, without referring to you by name, and yet you looked!"
Morlun then reached to try and pry the spider off of his head when Supreme opened a portal and entered the building. He quickly summoned the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak and used them to wrap around Morlun's left hand before he could even react. This spell would be used to bind his targets by summoning durable bands that represent Cyttorak's indomitable will.
When Morlun realized what was happening, he then went to use his right hand to fight him off when Gwen, Allen, and Parker quickly came in to stop him. Gwen came in and webbed his feet to the ground before blinding him. Peter Allen then swung in and bound his right hand just as Parker leaped and kicked his knee to keep him off balance.
"We've got him!" Peter Lane cheered. "Wow, this was easy."
"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?!" All of the alternative Spiders asked him.
Morlun then got an idea as he used his left leg to slam into the ground, causing the entire ground to shatter and then drop them all through the ground. Some of them managed to protect themselves by either grabbing the roof, grabbing the shattered floor or floating down safely.
Perry was far enough so that the shattering floor was happening just at his feet. He managed to watch the heroes and enemies make their way down the floor and even crash through several floors in the process.
Peter Supreme quickly used the Shield of the Seraphim to protect the other heroes while Morlun had his own plans. Pulling out the Dimensional Knife, he then ripped another tear in the universe and escaped through it.
The Spiders crashed into the ground floor of the building and Supreme came down gently. All of them had their lives and bodies protected thanks to the Shield of the Seraphim that he used a moment ago.
"Ow." Peter Lane commented as he rubbed the place where Morlun's hands reached. "That guy needs some nail trimmers."
"Everyone alright?" Supreme asked them all.
"We're fine," Gwen said as she got up. "What happened?"
"Morlun escaped." Supreme was sorry to say. He then took out the bomb and activated it. "So, it's time we moved on. When this goes off, Peter here will be able to be safe from Morlun coming back. So, it's time to move on and protect the next Spider-Man. Or Woman. Or whatever."
Peter Allen quickly got his feet and rubbed his head. "Can we take a five-minute break?"
That's when they saw sirens approaching the building and that meant that cops were coming. And as always, that means problems and trouble for the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
"I'm all rested up. Let's go!" Peter Allen stated.
"I'm on it," Supreme said as he quickly opened a normal portal out of the building. "Spider-Man."
Peter Lane saw that this portal was for him to escape. "Well...nice meeting you."
"See ya." Peter Parker said as Lane ran through the portal, allowing him to swing off into the night.
"Now..." Supreme started to open a shattered portal for them to escape. "...We have someone to stop."
The four of them confirmed as they ran into the portal, moving on to the next BRANCH of reality. Peter Lane went swinging and landed on the top of the building he was transported near and looked at the Planet.
"Well, that didn't exactly go well either." Peter Lane saw he had a long way to go before he is ready to be a hero. "This is the weirdest day ever. And I am not sure I understand what just happened, but it's over." Then he looked over to Lexcorp. "Alright, Luthor. What are you hiding?"
He still had a lot of mysteries to answer. A lot of questions out there...
Time to get to work.
Inside the shattered portals, the heroes were shattering their way across the BRANCHES. Trying to pick up where Morlun went, means that they will have to keep going through shattered dimensions like this over and over.
"Okay! We've got to find a new way of transport!" Peter Parker cried in pain as he was kit against the shattered portal. "I'm gonna get a broken arm from shattering the barriers between dimensions."
"So, where to next?" Gwen wonders.
"No idea. We're at the mercy of Morlun." Supreme stated. "Wherever he goes, we follow!"
They then shattered to the newest dimension and sent falling from the air, hearing a faint voice cry out...
"Wakanda Forever!"
