Lilly placed the kettle over the stove top. She turned the heat on to let the water come to a boil.

She could hear the bath water running as Megumi cleaned himself up. Yūji's breathing hadn't changed, so she knew he was still asleep.

They wanted him to die there, Lilly thought.

There really wasn't any other way to put it. Three first years should not have been assigned a potential Special Grade Curse. They waited for Satoru and the second years to be unavailable and then made their move.

She wouldn't be surprised if they planted the Cursed Spirit inside the prison anyway.

Megumi didn't seem suspicious when he explained the mission to Lilly, but the boy was young and too trusting of authority figures. The idea of them actively wanting to kill Yūji might not have crossed his mind.

It would… line up with some of the things she's heard about the Society.

Satoru told her the Jujutsu Society had become stagnant with decrepit and stubborn leaders. In her experience, when the elderly lead with stubbornness, it would always breed paranoia and irrational fear against power.

Their resentment of Yūta did nothing to prove her assessment wrong.

If not for Satoru, Lilly would have targeted the Jujutsu Society years ago.

Because of her fondness for Satoru, she had refrained. Satoru wanted to create a better society, and he wanted to do it as peacefully as possible with the least amount of lives lost. He believed that by becoming a teacher he could help shape and usher in the next generation of leaders.

Bit by bit, year by year, he would rebuild the society into his image.

It was an admirable goal, and Lilly wanted to support him.

She offered to infiltrate the society, but he asked her not to. He asked her to leave it to him.

He did not want her to become a target of their megalomania (so you do not repeat paranoia). He did not want them to attack her, or worse, try to use her children against her.

Since Yūta and Yūji were still young, she had agreed at the time. Yūta had become strong enough he could defend himself, whereas Yūji was not there yet.

Lilly did not make her power known to the society to keep them from targeting her and her family.

But if they were going to target Yūji regardless… why should she stay hidden?

Would it not be better for her to come forward as another threat, another deterrent?

Should she not become a shield for her children?

Lilly reached for her phone and called Satoru. He picked up on the third ring.

"Hello my little daifuku," cooed Satoru.

"Hello my little blueberry," Lilly greeted. "Do you have five minutes?"

"Only five?"

"Only five," she said. She took a deep breath, then gave a brief recap of what had happened earlier.

"How's Yūji?"

"He's fine. He's asleep right now," she said. "I'm guessing the possession happened because he was fatigued. Megumi said he threw up in the partial domain."

"Sensitive?"

"More than likely. I can help expedite his adjustment, however–"

"He needs time out of school, and away from those scheming geezers," Satoru concluded.

"Yes."

"Then we should give him that time. Let's have them think he's dead so they'll stop bothering us." Satoru hummed. "Plus, won't it be hilarious when he pops back up completely alive later?"

Lilly smiled faintly at the thought. "Speaking of hilarity… wouldn't it be so funny if–?"

"Ah, I bet I know what you're thinking!" Lilly could hear Satoru's grin in his voice. "You want to be a bully, don't you? Ahh~ my vicious angel. Are you sure you want to be added to the mix now?"

"If they're going after my children regardless, shouldn't I do what I can to protect them?" Lilly paused. "Short of massacres, because killing is bad."

"Killing is very bad, Lilly."

"... Yes."

"We shouldn't set a bad example for those impressionable kiddos under our care."

"Mm-hmm."

Satoru hummed again. "How can I say no to you? They're clearly not deterred by me but maybe between the two of us we can be scary enough to keep them safe."

Lilly smiled mirthlessly. "I can do scary."

Yūji's eyes snapped open.

He stared up at a familiar ceiling. It took him several seconds to blink away the black dots in his vision and recognize he was in his bedroom.

He sat up slowly and rubbed his eyes. His stomach gurgled unpleasantly, a lingering queasiness had settled inside him. The teenager stared tiredly around his room, unsurprised to find it tidy. Lilly–with his permission–would go in and pick up any discarded clothes and wipe down his equipment. She said an organized space made for an organized mind. He tried to keep it picked up on his own, but he wasn't always consistent about it.

Did I really make a pact with the Sukuna?

Hindsight, it was still hard to believe.

He had only read about the King of Curses in texts. Sukuna's fingers were marked as one of–if not the–most dangerous object for any Sorcerer to potentially find. Even after the past centuries, the Jujutsu Society had only obtained a handful of them.

Now Yūji had that very same Curse inside him.

And he made a pact with him.

A strangely benevolent pact, too. For someone so evil, the fact that he relented to Yūji's demands to not kill his allies when possessing Yūji's body was… really nice. Strangely nice. Suspiciously nice.

The added time limit was also strange. Five minutes was a long time, but the fact that there was a time limit at all was oddly generous.

Yūji would have thought the Curse would have pushed for at least an hour or maybe a day…

What is he planning? Yūji wondered.

Yūji didn't think he was dumb, but he also didn't think he was clever enough to predict Sukuna's motives.

He refused to think someone so asshole-ish would compromise just to be generous. He had to be up to something.

Right?

Right.

There was a knock at his bedroom door.

Yūji said, "Come in."

Lilly Suzuran stepped into the room with a smile. "Hi baby. How are you feeling?"

"Little sick to my stomach," Yūji admitted.

Lilly sat on the side of his bed. She gently tidied his hair as she asked, "Can you tell me what happened?"

Yūji hesitantly admitted what had transpired. He left out his conversation with Sukuna and the pact, of course.

"I was afraid of that," Lilly sighed. "We need to build up your resistance. You're too vulnerable as a sensor right now."

"Training time?"

"Training time," she agreed. She folded her hands in front of herself and smiled serenely. Her cheery expression was at odds with what she said next. "Don't worry baby. I'll heal you every time you feel like you want to die. You won't need to rest, or stop until you're completely in control again. Even if it feels like death would be kinder, I won't let you die."

"Aha… thanks…"

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

She also told Megumi the plan to fake Yūji's death when he got out of the bath. He was a little bewildered by her explanation, although he thankfully did not protest.

Next on the list was Yūta, who Lilly called Megumi and Yūji watched a movie in Yūji's room.

"Good evening baby," she said.

"Hey Mama," said Yūta.

"Yūji's got to play dead for a bit."

"Um, why?"

"To make things easier. He needs time to adjust and those old fu–old bats won't let him."

"What?"

Lilly paused in her kneading the pasta dough. "Oh. Did I not tell you…? Oh no, I'm sorry baby, it must have slipped my mind. Yūji swallowed one of Sukuna's finger the other day and–"

"WHAT?!"

"–and it turns out he's very aptly suited for being his vessel. So he is."

"Is he okay?!"

"He's fine," said Lilly. "It's an adjustment given how sensitive he is, but I'm sure he'll manage. I'm hoping the two can become friends."

"What? Mama, non, non, non! Il est mauvais! Por favor, dime que estás bromeando. Träume ich gerade?"

"I'm not joking, and you are not dreaming," Lilly said, ignoring the evil comment.

Yūta groaned then said in English, "Mama, I don't think this will work out the way you want it to."

"Maybe," she admitted. "Mais le chemin de l'enfer est toujours amusant."

Yūta made a noise of disapproval.

"Be at ease my son, you know I won't let anything disastrous happen to our little Yūji."

"It could be argued that this is disastrous, Mama."

"... He won't die."

"I love you, but if Yūji doesn't want Sukuna then you better help get rid of him," Yūta warned.

Lilly sighed. "Oui, oui. If he asks, I promise."

"Good. I love you."

"I love you too, my sweet boy."

Bonus:

Yūta: You okay?

Yūta: You really have Sukuna in you?

Yūji: bro don't word it like that :(

Yūta: Sorry.

Yūji: Sukuna's sharing a body with me. Kind of.

Yūta: Are you okay?

Yūji: yeah. He's pretty quiet most of the time.

Yūji: threatened to kill Gojo the other day

Yūta: Wow.

Yūji: ye lol was funny

Yūji: he doesn't like to respond to me and when he does it's pretty pompous sounding.

Yūji: he's a super dickhead

Yūji: almost wish he was possessing someone else so I could punch him myself

Yūta: Haha. GL with that.

Yūji: one day

Yūji: although

Yūji: kind of neat

Yūji: I thought the only thing special about me was what Auntie gave me

Yūji: but I'm doing this all on my own

Yūji: :)

Yūta: (:

Yūta: if you need anything, you need only ask.

Yūji: ok

Yūji: hey how did you bond with Kurai?

Yūta: I fed him bits of me for years.

Yūji: cool cool

Yūta: Sukuna was human once so I don't think that'll work out the same way.

Yūji: no, but it does give me an idea

Yūji: they say the way to a man's heart is his stomach :D

Yūta: Idk if I ship it.

Yūji: BRO
