I knock on their door. Jeremy answers. He starts to cry. I pull him into my arms whispering how sorry I am to him.
"Why would he do that to me?" He asks me.
"I don't know. I can't tell you what's going on in his mind. But I can promise that it will never happen again," I vow.
"Did you know?" He questions.
"No, of course I didn't. If I did know I would have never let it happen." I reassure him. "Come back to my place. We can talk." We walk back to my place after he agrees. "Would you like to see where Nik is sleeping?"
"Yes, I'm gonna burn it down," He replies.
"I'm not sure you will want to. I think you will find it very fitting not only for the situation but for him. It started as a joke, but why not." I say leading him outside to my backyard.
"Is that a doghouse?" Jeremy asks holing in his laughter.
There in the corner was a decent sized doghouse with the name Niklaus printed on the top. There's a pillow inside it for comfort.
"Yes, if he is going to be in the metaphorical doghouse might as well put him in a real one as well. Hopefully this will make him think twice next time." I tell him.
"Oh, you are devious," he says turning to me with a smile on his face. "I'm glad you're on my side. I don't think I can forgive Tyler. We have too much of a past leading up to this."
"For what it's worth, I don't think he knew you were going to get hurt. I'm not making excuses for him but giving you all the facts." I say to him.
We go in and talk for a little while. He gets a phone call and says okay after nodding along. He then hangs up. I give him a confused look.
"Alaric was rushed to the hospital." He tells me. I hand him my car keys.
"This should get you there faster." I offer.
Jeremy leaves and I get a call from Nik.
"II know your mad at me, love but just listen for a second." Nik starts.
"Fine, this better be good," I reply.
"Elena has a deal for us. She wants to meet us at the Salvatore house." He informs me.
"Come and get me and we can go," I say with a sigh.
"I was hoping you would say that," he says then hangs up.
A few minutes later he pulls up. I hop into his car, and he drives to the Salvatore boarding house. We both walk up to the house and Elena answers the door.
"Thank you for coming." She greets. Nik and I both enter the house.
"I trust you have news of Stefan?" Nik asks her.
"I couldn't find him. But I have something else," she says.
She walks down to the cellar, and we follow. She opens the cell door and there Rebekah is lying on the ground, dagger sticking out of her back.
"My poor sister. I can't turn my back on her for a second." Nik says shaking his head lightly.
"You have Rebekah. A deal is a deal," Elena says.
"The life of my sister in exchange for your brother? Yeah, I'd say that's a bargain. Consider him spared." Nik tells her.
In the car Nik told me about the deal saying he was acting like he would hurt Jeremy again. So, we could either get the kids back or Rebekah.
"You should know I was the one that daggered her. When she wakes, she'll come after me," Elena informs us.
"I believe you bargained for your brother, not yourself. That's unfortunate that you didn't think of that at the time." I say with fake sympathy.
"Tyra, not the time." Nik warns me. "I can control Rebekah. Besides I still need your help finding Stefan."
I reach over and undagger Rebekah.
"You're lying. Fortunately, you have no shortage of loved ones. If I don't find my family the question you should be asking yourself is who's gonna die next! Bonnie? Caroline? Damon? It's only a matter of time before Stefan gives mt what I want," Nik threatens.
"He doesn't care about me anymore. You made sure of that You turned him into a monster. Now, he's your problem. And just so you know I'm not the only one that Rebekah wants dead. She knows what you did to your mother. She knows that you killed her. You can let yourself out." She says and then leaves. He picks Rebekah up and carries her to the car.
"She seems to be ready to blame everyone but herself for anything," I observe as we drive back.
We arrive back at my place. I have him place her on her bed. Finn, Elijah, Kol, and Sage are all waiting for her to wake up with Nik and I.
"I'm so sorry," Nik says stroking her cheek.
She wakes up and looks around.
"Oh my, everyone is here. Wait, where are my niece and nephew?" She asks.
"Stefan took them." Elijah tells her.
"What?! Oh my god and you got me first. Why didn't you get them first?" She asks getting upset.
"We made a deal with Elena to not hurt Jeremy for you. Freya, Thor, and James are with Stefan, not Elena and Damon." I say.
"But you wouldn't hurt Jeremy," Rebekah remarks.
"Oh, your brother already did," I reply.
"Oooo, so he's in the doghouse," she says with a chuckle.
"Literally, he has a doghouse in the backyard." I say with a chuckle.
"You made him a doghouse?" She asks with a laugh.
"You, you don't mess with my kids," I say crossing my arms. "So, you were right about being daggered."
"I didn't think it would be in my back though," she tells us, disappointed. I hear someone slam the front door.
"Jeremy?" I hear Kol say. I head downstairs. I see him standing in the doorway. He looks upset and sees me.
"They're trying to send me away," he says in the most heart broken voice I have ever heard. "The only reason I know anything right now is cause I was wearing vervain or drank it or something."
"I gave you some lotion with vervain in it earlier," I say. "I thought it would protect you better then wearing it."
"Thank you. You saved me. But where do I go?" he asks looking up at me confused.
"You can stay here," I offer.
"I guess I don't have much of an option," he says with a sigh.
"He won't hurt you not only did he gave me his word he wouldn't. He also has his word to Elena," I say. I walk him up to a room near Kol and James. "You can use his room."
"Thanks for doing this," he says.
"No problem you get some rest." I say.
"What about you?" he asks.
"I don't think I will be able to sleep till my kids are home," I say.
The next day we are visiting Niklaus's mansion. We are talking with Mandy about the construction. I see Stefan leaning against a doorframe.
"I'm surprised you're still in town. I gave you your freedom. You could have gone anywhere." Nik says to him.
"I live here," he says.
"Well, if we're playing this game. Then… I was here first," he says.
"You know, I don't like your hybrid friends. They're everywhere, kind of like fleas. I want them gone." Stefan demands.
"Yeah, well I kind of like having them around." He says Not that he controls them, but the wolves generally like living near their alpha. "You know I'm hurt. I hoped that when I freed you, we'd pick up where we left off. But here you are, guzzling vervain like the rest of them. I'm sure. So much for friendship,"
"Friends don't strip friends of their free will," Stefan says which I can unfortunately agree with.
"Okay, granted, yeah that was aa little extreme, but I get a little moody. Just ask my family. Speaking of whom, isn't it time you handed my kids over?" He asks raising an eyebrow. At least he admits that he overreacts.
"Klaus, get your hybrids out of Mystic Falls or I will remove them myself." Stefan threatens. I look at Nik's face. I just want my kids back why does this have to be so hard.
"Hmm. You see if you continue to threaten me, I'm gonna be forced to retaliate, kill people and it will get messy again," Nik threatens in return.
"Do whatever you want I really don't care. Or you know what? Maybe I do. Maybe I care so much that I'll drop precious little Freya in the Atlantic. She has been annoying me with all her crying and screaming." He finishes looking at me. I gasp and tears start streaming down my face. My little girl in the bottom of the Atlantic.
"Well, maybe I'm willing to lose my daughter. I can always make another if it means I can kill your brother," Nik retaliates callously. I gasp. I can't believe he would say that.
"Try me, let's find out." Stefan says as Mindy walks in.
"Is everything okay?" She asks.
"Everything is fine, Mindy. Stefan was just leaving after failing to make his point." Nik says.
Stefan grabs a saw from the worktable he's next to. He rushes over to Mindy and cuts her head clean off with the saw. I gasp again.
"Well, one down. You may want to…ah... send the rest of them away before it gets messy, again." Stefan says throwing the saw back on the workbench. He leaves the house. After a few moments Niklaus turns to me.
"You know I didn't mean it. No one will replace Freya. I just didn't want him to know that," he explains. He opens his arms and I step into them and completely break down. He just comforts me telling me how much he loves me and the kids. Daniel another hybrid walks in to take care of Mindy's body.
"What do you want me to do with her body and head?" Daniel asks.
"Does she have family?" Nik asks him.
"No, just the pack." He tells us.
"Then have her cremated we can spread her ashes in the forest." Nik says with a sigh. Daniel walks away and Tyler walks in.
"You called? I'm here. What happened?" Tyler asks.
"What happened is Stefan had two paths in from of him and he chose the one that made me angry. I need you to help me do something about that," he tells Tyler.
"Can't you just leave me out of it, today? It's my girlfriend's birthday, today." Tyler says.
"What would be the point in that?" Nik says. Starting to step over the line of controlling. I'll see what he has in mind then put a stop to it.
"Seriously man, can't you just get one of your other hybrids to do your bidding? I lost my friends. My girlfriend is pissed at me," Tyler tells me.
"Right, your, uh, your girlfriend. Um, about her… I need you to bite her." Niklaus says.
"What?" Tyler says exactly what I'm thinking.
"Don't make me repeat myself," Nik says. He better be joking.
"A hybrid bite will kill a vampire," Tyler tells him.
"Yeah, Yeah, I know exactly what it will do. Oh, Stefan pushed me too far, so I'm pushing back." Niklaus says.
"I'm not biting Caroline," Tyler says looking at me for backup. This has gone on long enough.
"Yeah, no Niklaus you have gone too far. You take that back. You will not be hurting someone innocent getting Tyler ostracized even worse then he already is," I say stepping in. Tyler sighs and his shoulders falls. He gives me a small smile grateful that I have his back.
"Alright, fine, you don't have to bite Caroline. What do you suggest then, Tyra?" Nik asks me.
"Tyler, you will catch Caroline up. You will tell her the latest development not only has he threatened the hybrids ordering Nik to make them leave Mystic Falls. He also threatened to throw Freya in the Atlantic." I tell him. Tyler grows.
"He did what?" Tyler asks alarmed.
"He said Freya's crying and screaming was annoying him so he would throw her into the Atlantic." I reply.
"Doesn't matter how mad Caroline is with me, when she hears Stefan threatened to kill Freya she will be pissed off," Tyler says. "Thanks, Tyra for stepping in."
"Of course, I would. I will not let him hurt my kids," I say giving Nik a look.
My look says we will be discussing this later.
"Alright Tyler, you can go if you want." Nik offers.
"Wait, I have a gift for Caroline," I say.
I hand Tyler a gift bag. Init has Money, Gift card for an airline with enough money on it for a round trip anywhere around the world. It's in a Michael Kors purse and wallet. I want her to feel that eighteen even though she isn't physically aging she is mentally and that still counts. Nik put in a few things in there for her for the family. Not sure what it was though.
"Thanks, I'll be sure to give it to her," he says.
Elijah and I head to the founders Hall to meet up with a Meredith Fell about the Whickery Bridge restoration project.
"Hello, you must be Meredith. I'm here about the restoration project," Elijah greets.
"Ahh, yes, you wanted to pledge?" She asks.
"Yes, I'm willing to match every dollar raised. Hopefully that will be able to help out enough," he says/ They shake hands.
"Thank you so much sir," she says. We both walk away.
"That was nice of you," I comment.
"I try to help out wherever I am. I have made tons of money. Why not change someone's life for the better," he says shrugging his shoulders.
"You're a good vampire, Elijah. Don't let anyone tell you different." I compliment.
"Vampire?" He questions.
"Yeah, I can't hold you to the same standard as a human. It's like asking a wolf to act like a dog. They may be similar but there are differences, and you hold them to different standards. It just won't happen. They are very different creatures. If you compare yourself to a human, you will never be good enough." I explain.
"I've never had someone put it like that before," he says looking like I lifted a weight off his shoulders. "Thank you."
"I just pointed out the obvious." I say. "There's Nik." I point out and we head over to him.
"Hey Tyra, how was your time with Elijah?" He asks.
"Well, I really hope I gave him some peace and something to keep in mind." I say.
"Oh?" Nik inquires.
"Yeah. Who are we going to go meet?" I ask changing the subject.
"Mayor Carol Lockwood," he says.
"Tyler's mother?" I ask.
"One in the same," he replies.
