Chapter 20

Harri felt a rush of euphoria wash over her as Pettigrew didn't put up a fight against her intrusion and she took Pettigrew's consciousness into her mind.

"Today in the Great Hall during breakfast, you are going to try to kill me" Hari tantalizingly whispered into his mind.

"If you don't kill me, everyone will know that Sirius is innocent, and they will send you to Azkaban where the dementors will feast on your very being." Harri smiled at him, enticing him to try to kill her. Harri needed him to already have the primal desire to kill her for this to work. Once he is questioned, everything that she had implanted into his thoughts and feelings will come out.

"If you don't kill me, the madness will kill you if the dementors don't kill you first" Harri whispered soothingly into his ear, enjoying the subtle flinch in his expression.

"If you don't kill me, it will prove to the world how weak you are. You are the least desired marauder. Your 'friends' never thought of you as a friend. They only had you around because they wanted to feel better about themselves for having a friend like you. My father, James, joked how you would never accomplish anything in your life." Harri murmured sweetly.

"Remus felt bad for you, he only helped you because he pitied you." Harri continued whispering sweet cruelties in his mind.

"Sirius was the worst, he sabotaged everything you held dear. He shagged Marlene, knowing that you fancied her." Harri ensnared his mind.

"If you don't kill me, I will kill you myself you filthy rat." Harri comfortingly said into his imperioused mind.

"Today during breakfast, you will try to kill only me in front of the entire school. You will ignore everyone but me." Harri whispered into his mind.

Harri went to the owlery to send a quick anonymous tip to the Aurors and went to find Millicent in a much happier mood.

Harri walked next to Millicent to the Great Hall for breakfast. Hermione had reluctantly snuck her out in her school bag, not wanting Harri to get in trouble when she went to the trouble to sneak herself in the tower for her case. Hermione had left Harri in an unused classroom so that she could get herself sorted.

Millicent noticed that Harri seemed happier than usual and was glad that her friend was finally showing emotions other than malicious glee, anger and mischievousness. Both witches sat down at their usual place and Harri calmly ate her breakfast, slowly enjoying her bacon and scrambled eggs. Harri then drowned her pancakes in syrup to the disgust of Pansy, who avoided looking at her if she could, and the chagrin of Daphne and Tracy.

Millicent felt good about that day, finally a normal day at Hogwarts.

Soon, the entire Hall was bustling with laughter and drowsy students chatted away at they ate breakfast in a seemingly normal morning.

A crash sounded at the end of the Slytherin table and the Slytherins scrambled back when they saw a dirty rat running down the table towards the first years. The rat looked a bit deranged and mad, foaming from the mouth.

Snape was the first to act when he saw a rat transform itself into a man and stood up to protect his snakes.

When the rat was close to the first years, the rat changed into a balding man and attacked a surprised looking Harriet Potter. Harri stumbled back in shock as the man took a hold of her neck and started to squeeze her small neck. Harriet Potter kicked out her legs, trying to free herself from the unknown man that had appeared in the Great Hall. Harri didn't cry out in pain, but instead she snarled viciously at the rat and attacked him back muggle style. Soon, students started to realize that a student was getting choked by a feral looking man in the Great Hall, and the screams started to echo in the Great Hall as students scrambled back in fear and, unsurprisingly to Harri, left her alone to fend for herself.

Harri continued to fight against Pettigrew and then she stared into his eyes and communicated with him, 'That's right Pettigrew, this is the only way' Harri soothed his mind still kicking at him and scratching viciously at his eyeballs with her sharpened nails with one hand, meanwhile the other hand clutched her throat to get some air in. Harri stopped scratching his bloodied face and Harri took out her wand and before she could get a nasty first year spell in, Pettigrew was already down and still trying to get to Harri and kill her.

Harri turned over to see a livid Snape walking down to the Slytherin table from the podium with his wand drawn. Harri receded the Imperio with Voldemort's wand and used her own to point it at Pettigrew.

"Expelliarmus!"and Harri skillfully caught his wand and kept it way from him before he started to gain back his consciousness and try to make his escape. As Harri tried to buy more time for herself, stalling for time so that the aurors could get there. Harri got a good kick in Pettigrew's groin to the surprise of Snape. Pettigrew took another aim at her throat, and Harri felt herself unwillingly blink out, and her fight or flight instincts from so many years ago kicked in for the first time since the Great Battle of Hogwarts. Harri forgot herself and she fought for her life with a disinterest in her face that scared her peers. She sent a couple of overpowered Light cutting hexes to his face and continued to maim the man.

Harri took a fistful of Pettigrew's few strands of hair and to the horror of everyone in the Great Hall, smashed his face against a silver plate repeatedly and then hit him once behind his head and splattered some of his blood on her robes and hands. And it was to that sight that Bones and Shackbolt came in through the front doors of the Great Hall followed by other aurors and had their wands pointed out and ready for battle.

They were not trained to deal with the sight they were met with. All of the Aurors noticed the young girl with the zoned out faraway look in her eyes that they recognized from veterans from the first war against Voldemort. That young girl was standing over a man that was horribly maimed and was unrecognizable. The only thing they could recognize was the Dark Mark on his arm. The young girl didn't notice their approach and she kept hitting the body of the man with the silver bloodied plate and they were unsure of what to do. The girl didn't react when they ran past her to get the man on the floor, that looked like the victim, away from the girl. Some of the Aurors began to give the man basic first aid healing.

Amelia stared at the young girl that looked like the late Lily Evans. Harri was still out of it, and she kept her eyes trained on Pettigrew not wanting to let him out of her eyes. And slowly as her mind calmed down, Harri gained consciousness and realized what she had done. Harri, horrifyingly slowly looked at her hands and looked to Snape who had a troubled look on his face. Memories came flashing into her mind, and she realized what she had done. She stared shocked at Pettigrew and the state that he was in, still remembering how she handled him. As Harri was replaying what she had done to Pettigrew in her mind, Amelia took charge immediately and spoke loud enough for her Aurors, Harri, and Snape to listen to her orders.

"Let's get this man to Saint Mungo's and we will interrogate him after he wakes up. Miss Potter, you are not in trouble, but you are needed for questioning." Bones quietly informed Harri and she nodded at Bones. Before Dumbledore could prevent them from taking young Harriet, Snape was already following them to the floo.

"I'll take care of her" Snape promised him. Dumbledore did feel a bit better, but he wanted to argue that she should stay at the school, but there would be no way to convince them otherwise after what they had seen young Harriet do. Dumbledore couldn't deny that what Harriet had done had shook the entire school and the Aurors. It was like something possessed her, and Dumbledore feared that the Horcrux had taken a hold of her for a moment.

Harri hated herself at the moment. She couldn't believe that she had let herself slip into an episode reliving the previous war. She almost killed Pettigrew and then she wouldn't have been able to get Sirius out using conventional means! Harri wanted Sirius to be a free man and walk around by his free will. But as Harri thought over the situation, she decided that she could still use this to get Sirius out. Not all was lost, Harri still had the evidence of the Dark Mark, and the evidence of Pettigrew trying to kill her, and his wand.

The group flooed to Saint Mungo's and the healers immediately went to the young child where Harri told them that she was fine and that the blood did not belong to her and with that, they noticed Pettigrew and immediately took him to a room to start healing him. Harri sat in a waiting room next to Snape, where Snape tried to unsuccessfully read her face. Harri kept a poker face and stared at her bloodied hands.

"Are you okay Miss Potter?" Snape tentatively asked her. Harri shrugged at the man and said,

"It's not every day you almost kill a man."

"You will be okay" Snape promised her, looking concerned for her.

"I know I will be, I always am in the end" Harri stared straight at the wall.

"What happened Miss Potter?" Snape tried to pry more information out of her as he couldn't read her face.

"My guess is flight or fight instincts" Snape didn't say anything to that.

"it's nice to know that I would go out in a fight" Snape snarled at her and shook her shoulders.

"Don't every say that, Potter!" Harri finally stared into his eyes and noticed that he had a grief in his eyes that she recognized from the time he was dying in her arms. Harri only nodded at him.

"It felt like I was disconnected from the world, and that I had to fight, sir." Harri confessed to him.

"Almost like your life flashes before your eyes..." Harri trailed off.

"Thank you for being the only one to defend me sir" She gave him a small sincere smile for the first time; she was happy to know that he would still go out of his way to protect her.

"There is no need to thank me Miss Potter, I only did what I was supposed to as your Head of House." Harri rolled her eyes and that and finally gave him her infuriating, infamous, James Potter, smirk.

"If you say so… Sir" He sighed at Harri. He took comfort in knowing that at least it didn't take her long to bounce back to her erratic self.

Amelia Bones and Kingsley Shackelbolt walked up to them and sat across from them. Kingsley took out a quill and parchment and wrote down the date and witness name.

"Can you tell us what happened Miss Potter?" Harri nodded solemnly.

"That son of a bitch tried to kill me" Harri spoke calmly, surprising both Aurors.

"Potter! Language!" Snape scolded her.

"What? It's true isn't?" Harri bickered back at the man. Shakelbolt having known of Lily's and Snape's argument back in his Hogwarts days felt a strong wave of nostalgia and déjà vu.

"Please continue Miss Potter" Bones brought them back on track and had Shakelbolt right down her exact words for the records.

"So anyway, he comes up running as a rat, and changes into a man, and then he started chocking me!" Harri exclaimed.

"I saw my life flash before my eyes, and my fight instinct just kicked in! that happened when he was already down on the ground thanks to Professor Snape, and afterwards I blinked out and before I noticed what was happening, I snapped out of it, and I was covered in blood" Harri finished. Amelia nodded at her and asked her,

"Is there anything else you remember from the man?" Harri nodded,

"He has a Death Eater mark" Harri's voice shook on purpose.

"He looked like Peter Pettigrew" Snape finally decided to say at last after Potter had said her piece.

Both Bones and Shakelbolt looked alarmed at that but they continued their interrogation.

"Miss Potter what did you use against the Death Eater?"

"An overpowered Diffindo, I also used Expelliarmus, afterwards, I just went muggle style on him." Harri took out Pettigrew's wand and was glad that she didn't snap it. They will be able to use this wand to also identify him. She handed the wand to Bones, and she took the wand, looking impressed with the first year. Its not many first years that can take a full-grown wizard using brutal strength thought Amelia.

"The patient is waking up" a healer came in to say after the interrogation was done.

"You two will wait outside, meanwhile we interrogate him" Harri nodded, and followed Bones and Shakelbolt to the private room and they both looked wary that Miss Potter might try to attack the man again, but Snape gave them a look assuring them that he would restrain the girl if he had to. When the Aurors entered the room, Pettigrew looked more like himself and he glared at the girl when he saw her by the door and he lounged himself at her.
