Ezra felt the heat of the blood splattered over his face, and he felt the sting from his right eye, Ezra screamed in rage as his ears rang as he slammed the rock into the officer's face, the first strike shattered his nose blood gushing out, as he struck again his nose and the area around it started to sink as a loud crack was heard red mush flying out, he struck again as the officer spat up his teeth alongside blood. Ezra struck again one blood flew out the officer's eye sockets as they were pushed forward slightly, his face caving inwards as the skull shattered inside his head, his brain getting ground up inside his head, Ezra kept striking ripping apart the officer's face until it was just an open pit into a red mush of muscle, brain and blood small shards of bone mixed in also.
Ezra moaned as he awoke a bandage over his right eye strung over his head tightly, his shirt was on the table blood staining the black and grey tunic, and a bandage over his stomach, Ezra touched the wound covered by the bandage on his gut wincing as the blood stained the bandage, Ezra touched his bandage over his eye with his middle and index finger, crying out in pain. He saw Sabine passed out on a bed next to him, the white walls and glass windows showed him the doctors rushing around the halls of the medical bay, Ezra looked at Hera who had a bandage over her head. Zeb was nowhere to be seen, and rex was in a bacta tank,
Ezra got to his feet slipping into his black and grey jedi tunic, he put his boots on walking out the medical bay he saw the Ghost being worked on by chopper and a few rebels, Zeb was there too aiding them. Ahsoka and Kanan were speaking to one another. Ezra stumbled over to the two jedi, he winced as he looked at his leg seeing a bandage around it.
'Maybe it isn't the best time to ask for help, he seems a bit… fragile, one wrong move is all I am saying' The Sith Ezra mimicked Kanan's head exploding while standing next to the jedi, Ahsoka looked to where the other Ezra was as if a person was there but she saw no one.
Ezra wanted to speak but he couldn't, he had nothing he could say.
"I… I-I'm sorry… I wish I could have stopped this. I-I was terrified… forgive me" Kanan didn't say or do anything in response. Just sit
"I… Cannot… heh, you know I can't tell who to hate more, you for ending up as you did… or me for failing you as I did"
Ezra hung his head in his defeat before composing himself, inhaling deeply the boy stood up tall and marched onwards
'Well, how did you expect it to go? 'Cos, I expected about that good' Ezra's Ghost doppelganger kept pace with Ezra stepping backwards to look at the boy.
Stopping for a second gathering his words Ezra raised a finger up but all that came out was an exasperated sigh, limping forward his brow scrunched slightly.
'They aren't going to Forgive you… They don't understand… I-I… I do! I'll always be here for you!'
The doppelganger stood in Ezra's way as if to block him from Ahsoka and Zeb and he did stop in his tracks, 'Just let it go man… We don't need them'
Ezra groaned silently as he stepped towards his crew. And as he opened his mouth a Rebel wearing medical fatigues rush out panicked looking, He ran to Kanan speaking undistinguishable words to the Jedi as both sprinted to the medical bay. The rest of the crew including Kristina and Red rushed in, Ezra began to follow only to stop when he saw Kanan stare back at him for just a second. But even still Ezra followed at least to the hallway, watching through the window, pacing back and forth, holding his hand over his mouth, and using his other arm to hold his elbow bracing his arm and hand in that position.
Seconds seemed to turn to hours as he paced outside the room. As he stared at the clock the two hands forming a quarter on the bottom right of the clock, seconds barely ticking by he slowly felt his senses fade, the sounds of beeping or the ticking from the clock echoed, getting fainter and fainter as if he was walking down a tunnel. Until nothing, he still felt his body pace back and forth, or at least he thought he did. The ground rippled underneath his feet. Almost as if oblivious to the place he had transcended to.
'Why the long face huh? So, one of those… thi-… People die"
'Don't you care? They're my family so by extension they're yours!'
'O-Of course I care. Pfft… Just… don't fret they wouldn't bat an eye if it were you!' the voice seemed to echo from everywhere even though his Doppelganger was right in front of him
'Just leave me alone'
In a flood-like wave light and sound rushed to Ezra as he was back in the hallway, he stared back at the clock to see it had moved two quarters. 'How long was I thinking for' Trailing back to the Three friends he had in the med bay he looked in to see Kanan still sitting Next to an unconscious Hera. Ezra looked to the back wall of the hallway opposite the medical room the bland medical paint scheme of green and white made him feel bored and cold. He Noticed a few chairs and sat down waiting for Kanan to step out. And as he sat there, people passing hundreds of times, he rested his elbows on his knees holding his hands together, blocking his mouth from sight, staring directly at Hera and Sabine.
'If we are needing to pay attention to this mission, won't we need to listen not just watch?'
'CHOPPER IS A MEMBER OF THIS CREW!' Ezra chuckled slightly at this
'I survived one war I'm not ready for another one' the further Ezra delved into his mind the worse he felt, about everything he had done.
'If you only look out for yourself, then your life is worth nothing'
He stepped in quietly looking at the Jedi master sitting Next to his adoptive mother.
"I-Is she going to wake up?" Ezra felt his voice crack up as he stumbled closer.
Kanan broke his statue-like pose turning to Ezra, looking the boy up and down his one eye red and glassy.
"We have gotten through worse. B-But I do not know. It was never this bad, even with all that has happened recently, but the force will guide us through"
"What happens when she doesn't?"
"If!" As Kanan spoke Ezra jumped back, looking to Sabine in the next bed over, the clean white room doing nothing to distract from the sight of two half-dead women in the beds.
"I-I… I didn't mean that"
"Ever since you got back! Everything… IT'S FALLEN APART!" Kanan seemed to tower over the boy as he screamed.
Slowly Ezra stepped back until he left the room Zeb walked past Ezra, and the two brushed shoulders. Ezra left the medical bay the cool breeze of Lothal brushing against his face, making the golden blades of grass dance in the bright sunlight.
Rebel soldiers passing by each seeming to be in a rush. Ezra hid his face in his hands, screaming quietly, though for only a moment before regaining his sanity.
Ezra groaned leaning back against the temporary but durable wall of the hospital, most of the equipment from the rebels seemed to be made for quick setup or mobility. Still, this one seemed more permanent, even if only slightly more. As he lent against the hard wall slowly letting his body slide down until he was sitting against the wall. Pulling his knees to his chest. Ezra looked towards the base but let his head drop into his knees.
'Don't sweat it… He'll come around… probably'
Kristina Wandered the base, a strange expression on her face, her pink and slightly cracked lips stuck in a pout. She was using her left hand to rub her thin eyebrows. She was seemingly oblivious to the world around her.
"Why… Why couldn't I help him?" Muttering to herself Kristina didn't notice spectre 1 behind her
"Maybe… you aren't the issue" The Jedi spoke with venom in his voice.
"You don't mean that" Kristina and Kanan locked eyes, both holding a death stare. Neither side backed down from the other.
"It's his fault!" Kanan's voice slowly raised as he spoke each word striking like knives to Ezra who could barely hear the two in the distance.
But a strange sound stopped it all, Ezra getting to his feet. A low hum and roar in the distance, sounding almost as if the sky itself was being torn into, running to the corner of the building, Ezra looked over the fields of golden grass into the sky, squadrons of tie fighters and drop ships approaching like a Tsunami. A Tsunami that would destroy this base.
Ezra rushed into the medical bay trying his hardest to carry Hera. Struggling and limping he worked through the pain.
Soon the whole base was in an uproar, ships taking off attempting to fight the waves of imperial, and the few sirens set up were fighting their hardest to make noise. Kanan and Kristina rushed to Ezra, but a massive volley of tie strikes and proton torpedoes cut them off causing Ezra to be thrown to the ground. Flames burned the grass and base, splitting it, and slowly the grass burnt towards where the ships were parked.
Kanan and Kristina tried to get past the flames, but they just kept spreading, eventually catching rebels and Imperial soldiers alike, until they were unrecognisable just charred bones.
And even more carnage was added when the main force of imperials hit the base, hundreds of stormtroopers marched into the base, taking cover as remaining rebels fought back. With a load groan Ezra picked himself up slightly, so his chest was lifted above the ground, looking around, he panicked grabbing at his right eye to feel a scar, jumping to his feet he saw the bandaged and unconscious Twi'lek on the ground, the flames spread almost atop her
Through the smoke, blaster fire and flame, Ezra spotted the figure of Zeb and Ahsoka trying to get Kanan onto the Ghost, all while the latter tried to run through the thick flames cutting Ezra off. Stumbling upwards to his feet Ezra could almost hear nothing over an infernal ringing through his ears, blinking repeatedly he turned to the flame wiping sweat from his brow, and brushing his raven blue hair out of his face. Ezra limped to Hera wincing in pain as he did, grabbing the unconscious woman and swinging her over his shoulder. Looking around he watched as the Tie fighters shot at the Ghost, and slowly it rose into the air fleeing, all while being shot at, and soon most other rebel shuttles did, Ezra spotted a single shuttle damaged, but hopefully functional, the flames closed in almost cutting off the medical bay from the shuttle that was crashed, it seemed as if that was the only path, excluding the path that the stormtroopers were starting to rush down.
Ezra screamed in agony as he tried to sprint limping faster and faster towards the grey steel shuttle it looked like a repurposed LAAT gunship, only this one, if Ezra recalled, should have a functional hyperspace travel system with all the necessary parts. Throwing Hera into the main part of the ship, the flames cut off the medical bay. Ezra screamed in fear as the heat threw him back.
Then the sound of twine engines roared through the sky, and then a buzz, followed by a chain of buzzes, before a loud boom. Dirt, stone, and stuff scattered around the base blown into the air at great speeds propelled by growing balls of flame and plasma. Partially destroying the medical bay. Ezra jumped through the flame, his screams echoing over the explosions and blasters, a squad of troopers opening fire at Ezra. A few bolts landing. Working through the pain he stumbled from wall to wall through the partly destroyed and no longer clean medical bay Ezra looked around rubble everywhere, he spotted the bed luckily nothing had fallen on Sabine. He stumbled over grabbing her gently before noticing the clone trooper in the damaged bacta tank. He nearly collapsed but managed to keep balance with the Bacta tank control panel, pressing random buttons, all he got back were random loud beeps.
"DAMN IT! JUST WORK!" With a roar of rage, he punched at the bacta tank the glass completely shattering, a shockwave cracking the building even more and sending Ezra flying backwards, his body flinging into the doorframe getting caught, his body flipping around as he continued to fly back hitting a wall in the collapsed hallway. Again, he tried to get up, almost completely unable to he tried supporting himself with the rubble and walls, limping back he picked up Sabine, looking at rex, who was barely starting to wake, getting up. Wearing the bacta suit.
"W-What's going on?"
"CAN YOU WALK!" Ezra screamed at the man who was trying to stand, the whole time Ezra was trying to lift Sabine.
"B-Barely" The old clone got to his feet, brushing some dust and rubble off a black bodysuit and damaged old clone armour.
"Get that on… HURRY!" Ezra was panicking as the clone rushed to arms, barely able to walk Ezra couldn't walk in a straight line with Sabine. Who was held limp in his hand as if they were a newlywed couple?
And the three made it out of the falling building. Ezra carrying the unconscious Mandalorian girl, white armoured troopers opened fire, and the stormtroopers managed to clip Ezra's shoulder almost causing him to drop the girl. The old clone trooper ran behind using his two DC-17 blaster pistols to try and cover Ezra, all three making it through the wall of fire to the shuttle. Ezra gently placed Sabine next to Hera, Rex providing cover fire as Ezra jumped into the cockpit of the ship, trying to repair it, the cramped space, Ezra huddled over the control panel of the cockpit, fiddling with wires and buttons, a loud buzz pre-empted a large flurry of sparks being thrown into Ezra's face, screaming loudly grabbing his face, Ezra thought about everything as he tried to hotwire it again.
'Sabine… My name's Sabine'
A large hum brought Ezra back to reality. Looking out the cockpit window he watched as hundreds of stormtroopers tried to fire at the ship, Rex returning fire as slowly the sliding side doors shut, the engine whirring loudly. Lifting off, Ezra watched as Rebels were pushed to their knees, blasters at the back of his head. Barely avoiding the ties that chased the other ships, his luck held as the ship entered hyperspace.
Rex was sitting in the co-pilot seat.
"I-It happened so fast!" Ezra let out a long sigh.
"Kid what happened… my memory is foggy… the last thing I remember was the Ghost exploding!" Rex let out an exclamation alongside a long sigh.
"Guess they were planning it all. I should have known"
"It was my fault… everything Rex… Kanan was right." Ezra looked back to the seat above him.
"At least this old piece of junk still works, it's been a while since I've had to escape in one of these bad boys… Never let me down before"
"Ahsoka will be glad your awake…" Ezra groaned loudly gripping his leg and torso.
"Ezra!" Rex had panic lacing his voice.
"It's… I-It's fine. At least the Bacta seemed to heal you, I wouldn't have made it out of here with all of us elsewise… G-God that hurts! I was worried for a moment about the dodgy repairing, then it being shot down just to be hotwired and barely repaired. Hell, we were lucky it even took off let alone enter hyperspace!" Ezra wanting to tempt fate, it was inevitable he'd get a reaction. A sputter then the hum fading as the ship lost complete momentum.
Ezra and rex being thrown forward slightly. The ship slowly floated towards a planet it was a dull green with a few sets of lights visible from space.
"I just had to say it… at least this planet has cities… I think"
