U.A. Academy. Day…
After the first day naturally came everyone's second, and it was time they knew just how their day would typically be. It started with Homeroom taught by Aizawa. Well, he didn't really teach. He handed out papers before huddling in his sleeping bag.
Goku was certain that when something was going on, he'd mention it. Once the bell rang, it was time for the core classes. First there was English which was taught by Present Mic who tried to hype up the subject. Honestly, only Izuku and Iida were in high spirits.
Everyone else was bored; however, Goku had plenty of tips and tricks from his family on how to handle school subjects. He usually ended up at the top of the class thanks to them; however, he got the feeling he'd only be somewhere near the top when compared to others in this area.
After English, there was Modern Literature taught by a guy whose Hero name was Cementoss. He didn't really hype up the subject, but when someone dosed off, he would bop their head with whatever book was in his hands. Other than that, the guy seemed nice and good spirited.
Then came Modern Hero Art and History, taught by Midnight. She was a Hero who could not be displaying any more sex appeal if she tried, and she didn't even hide it. It caused people like Yamcha, Sero, and Kaminari to stare at her rather than the board itself.
As for Goku, he never truly understood what some guys saw in looks, so it was easy to focus on what was being taught. The finale core class was mathematics taught by a Hero named Ectoplasm. He was more direct with his teaching methods.
He'd pick a random student, regardless of whether they wanted to, and have said student answer whatever mathematical equation was on the board within a certain amount of time. When Goku had to take a turn, he was on the right track yet too slow.
He made a mental note to ask Melissa for some more help in this subject. After classes were done, lunch was served in the cafeteria. The food was cheap, and everyone stared at the younger Shield as he woofed down great quantities of food. No one asked him yet how he did it.
Once they got back to class, it was time for Foundational Hero Studies. Goku knew this just had to be taught by Uncle Might. He knew his uncle wouldn't go easy on him, and he truly wouldn't want that anyways. If Goku were to achieve his dream, he'd work for it.
Class 1-A
"I AM… HERE!" Announced All Might as he entered the room bombastically. "COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"
Goku smiled. "That's Uncle Might for you."
Everyone else was fawning over him and admiring the Silver Age Costume he was sporting.
"Welcome to the most important class at U.A. High." All Might declared. "Think of it as Heroing 101. Here you will learn the basics of being a pro, and what it means to fight in the name of good!" He then struck a pose. "Let's get into it!" He then spun around and held up a card that had 'BATTLE' written on it. "Today's lesson will pull no punches!"
"Fight Training!" Katsuki declared looking like a Lion who's been let out for a hunt.
"Real Combat?" Izuku questioned surprised and a bit nervous.
"But one of the keys of being a Hero iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis…" All Might swiftly pointed at a wall. "LOOKING GOOD!"
The wall started to shift, and numbered suitcases were brought into view.
"These were designed for you based on your quirk registration forms, and the requests you sent in before school started!"
Everyone except Momo, Shoto, and Iida were cheering. Goku saw his number and hoped what he requested was in there.
"Get yourselves suited up!" All Might instructed. "Then, meet me at Training Ground Beta!"
"Yes sir!" The entire class declared in unison.
With that, everyone got the suitcase with their number on it and went to the locker rooms to change. Goku took his costume out and saw that it was in fact his gi. Though, there was also a note lain out on top of it.
"Hey Goku,
You're lucky I got to this first because there's some new support girl who was planning all kinds of things with it. You can thank me by meeting me in the Development Studio after your classes. There's something special I want to show you.
Melissa."
Goku smiled as he made a mental note to visit with his sister once classes were finished.
Training Ground Beta
Once everyone was dressed, they walked together to Training Ground Beta. Everyone had their own style, but some were more unique than others. Katsuki looked like a walking bag of grenades. The younger Shield had a lot of second-hand knowledge from his father and sister.
So, the fact that his gauntlets were giant grenades clued him into the fact that they couldn't be there for show. He just wasn't certain of their purpose yet. Shoto covered his left side in ice and wore all white. The only thing on his left uncovered was a red spot that was probably a scope.
It was a very weird set up, but Goku didn't question it. Iida looked like a knight packed with engine turbines behind his shoulders, and his legs had his natural engines armored up. Ochaco looked like a skin tight space girl.
It fit with her quirk, which was literally zero gravity, but she looked a bit uncomfortable. Then, there was Yamcha who looked like some desert warrior. The last one was Izuku who looked ridiculous.
Goku understood the guy idolized his uncle, but the uniform left a lot to be desired. He honestly looked more like an overgrown, underfed rabbit. Despite his thoughts, Goku wasn't going to say anything because it was his friend's choice.
"They say the clothes make the Pros, ladies and gentlemen!" All Might declared. "Behold, you are the proof. Take this to heart. From now on, you are all Heroes in Training!" All Might huffed in amusement. "This is getting me all revved up! You look so cool!"
Goku was next to Izuku who was looking at him. "Hey Goku, isn't that just what you were wearing in the Practical part of the Entrance Exam?"
"Yeah, it is." Goku nodded with a smile. "My dad designed this shortly after I hit my growth spurt, and someone else has been working on something special for me the moment school started."
Then, Ochaco approached them. "Hey guys, I like your costumes. Not too flashy, ya know? I should have been more specific about what I wanted. This body suit is skin tight. Not really my style."
Goku looked over to Izuku who was trying to control himself before merely laughing himself. "Well, it still does suit you." He crossed his arms. "You look like you're ready to send the Villains sky high."
"Thanks, Goku." Ochaco replied.
"Hey you three, pay attention." Tenya addressed them. "Our teacher seems ready to begin."
"Now that you're ready, it's time for Combat Training." All Might announced.
"Sir." Iida raised his hand. "This is the fake city from our Entrance Exam. Does that mean we'll be conducting Urban Battles again?"
"Not quite." All Might answered. "I'm going to move you two steps ahead. Most of the Villain fights you see on the news take place outside; however, statistically speaking, run ins with the dastardliest evildoers take place indoors.
Think about it. Backroom deals. Home invasions. Secret underground lairs. Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys to fight two on two indoor battles!"
"Isn't this a little advanced?" Tsuyu asked.
"The best training is what you get on the battlefield!" All Might remarked. "But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now."
Then came the questions.
"Sir, will you be deciding the one who wins?" Momo asked.
"How much can we hurt the other team?" Katsuki asked.
"Do we need to worry about the losers getting expelled like earlier?" Ochaco asked.
"Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skill?" Iida asked.
The over-the-top kid named Aoyama asked how his cape looked.
"I wasn't finished talking." All Might grumbled. "Listen up." He pulled out a script. "The situation is this. The Villains have hidden a Nuclear Missile somewhere in their Hideout. The Heroes must try to foil their plans.
To do that, the good guys either must catch the evildoers, or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload or capture the Heroes!" All Might then pulled out a box that said 'Lots'. "Time's limited, so we'll choose teams by drawing lots!"
"Isn't there a better way?" Iida asked.
"Think about it." Izuku interjected. "Pros often have to team up with Heroes from other agencies on the spot, so maybe that's the reason why we're seeing that here."
"Yes, I see." Tenya acknowledged. "Life is a random series of events." He bowed in respect. "Excuse my rudeness."
"No sweat!" All Might turned around and rose his fist into the air. "Let's draw!"
Team A is Goku and Izuku
Team B is Shoto and Mezo
Team C is Momo and Ochaco
Team D is Katsuki and Tenya
Team E is Yuga and Mina
Team F is Yamcha and Koji
Team G is Denki and Kyoka
Team H is Fumikage and Tsuyu
Team I is Masahiro and Toru
Team J is Eijiro and Hanta
All Might went digging through two other boxes labeled 'HERO' and 'Villain'. "I declare that the first teams to fight will be… THESE GUYS!"
From the 'HERO' box he pulled out team A while from the 'VILLIAN' box he pulled out team D. Goku was already starting to picture this as a real scenario and thinking how two Heroes who knew the Villains, to varying degrees, would act in this situation.
As for Izuku and Bakugou, the two boys looked surprised. The later simply looked more pleasantly surprised while Midoriya was terrified. Iida was looking at the opposing team as despite what Goku said, he still viewed them both as superior students.
"Team A will be the Heroes while Team D will be the Villains!" All Might announced. "Everyone else can head to the Monitoring Room to watch!"
"Yes sir." Everyone declared in unison.
Izuku looked like he was getting ready for a beating which made Goku worry. He also noticed that Katsuki was glaring at Midoriya, like he was already getting ready to attack, making Izuku more afraid. Before the younger Shield could speak, Midoriya clenched his fist.
He looked up and put the fear behind him which eased the younger Shield's worry. Izuku took it a step further by glancing back at Katsuki making him slightly reel back in shock. It looked like the explosive boy wasn't used to this.
"Bad guys, you can get set up." All Might Instructed. "In five minutes, the good guys will be let loose, and the battle will start! Young Iida and Bakugo, the key to being successful in this challenge is to embody villainy! Think from the perspective of an evildoer."
"Got it." Tenya responded.
"If things go too far, I'll step in." All Might assured them.
"Understood." Iida responded while Bakugo simply growled.
Once they were in the building, All Might was set to take off; however, Goku stopped him. "All Might, once we enter, is there any rule saying we can't exit the building?"
Izuku looked at the younger Shield curiously.
"There is not." All Might informed professionally. "Whatever you are planning, keep in mind you goal is to capture the Villains or secure the bomb. Running out what is a fifteen-minute time limit will secure victory for the Villain team."
"Understood." Goku responded.
Monitoring Room
All Might and the rest of the students were watching. They can see and hear everything. No detail would be missed.
They saw Iida walking over to the 'bomb'. "Even though this is training, it pains me to be aligned with criminal behavior. So, this is the weapon we must protect." He knocked on it a couple of time. "Fake, of course."
"Hey." Katsuki spoke up getting Iida's attention. "Do you really think Deku has a Quirk?"
"You saw how he threw that ball." Iida commented. "Though I think his power hurts his body." Bakugo seemed angry with that answer. "Why is it that you seem to be especially angry when it comes to Midoriya?"
"Was he seriously tricking me all this time?" Katsuki gave a crazy look. "I'll roast that damn nerd today before taking out that clown who took first place in the entrance exams."
Outside the Building
Goku looked over the paper provided as though it were genuine intel beyond just a map to a fake weapon. Based on what he could see, the first three floors were a maze of corridors while the nuclear bomb that they had to secure was on the fourth and top floor.
Izuku was muttering up at storm which drew his attention. "Hey Izuku, I think it would be good if we came up with a plan now."
"Right, sorry." Izuku muttered. "It's just… my opponent is Kacchan and Iida, so I'm really tense. I hate the way Kacchan treats me, but I admire his confidence, his passion, his strength, and his Quirk. He's better than me in every way possible, yet I really don't want to lose to him."
"You know, based on what I've seen, I think you're giving him a little too much credit." Goku informed. "I'll admit his Quirk is a strong one, but everything else can't be how you see it. If I had to wager a guess on his other aspects…
His confidence comes from belittling people like you while his ambition is just to be the best in battle. You know, I can relate to that last desire, but being a Hero is more than being strong. You, Midoriya, have a far greater strength than he could dream of.
Your strength comes from the heart, and it's what helped you reach this point. Your ambition is just like my own in becoming a new Symbol of Pease. The next beacon of hope for people to look up to and feel safe. Your Quirk is just as strong his to if not stronger."
"Goku…" Izuku smiled. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet because we still have a bomb to secure." Goku informed. "Just to be sure, since you've clearly known him longer, what do you think Bakugo will be doing?"
"Kacchan is rather impatient." Izuku informed. "The exercise is probably the last thing on his mind, and he wouldn't even both trying to capture us. If anything, he'll want to take me down to prove his point and defeat you considering you've come in first twice as well as defended me."
"That means it's a safe bet he's left his partner alone with the weapon while he's already on the hunt." Goku nodded. "If the exercise is the last thing on his mind, he wouldn't care what happens to the weapon or this building." He smiled. "I think I know just how we can succeed…"
Goku filled Izuku in on his plan before letting his partner know he was more than open to discussing it. So, the two of them worked to refine it. After looking at their map and discussing several ideas, they finally settled on something solid.
It was just in time to as All Might's voice came over the speakers. "Alright, let's begin the indoor combat training! Team A and Team D, your 15 minutes starts now!"
Inside
The Heroes entered through a window and began observing their surroundings.
"Careful." Izuku warned. "There are a lot of blind spots."
"A lot of ways Bakugo could surprise us to." Goku commented.
The slowly walked down the hallway with Goku taking point and looking in every direction for any trace of a potential ambush. Izuku checked their flank and, per the plan, had them stay in areas with plenty of places to run to. He also noted every window's location that he could.
Eventually, Katsuki found them as he came around a corner launching an explosion towards the pair. Goku and Midoriya scattered to opposite sides with the latter's hood being torn from the attack as he was clearly the target.
"Izuku, you okay?" Goku asked.
"Don't worry about me." Izuku assured. "I'm fine."
The smoke cleared and Katsuki waved off whatever smoke was covering his view. "Found you shitbags!" He started pointing at them. "First, I'll decimate you, Deku. Then, I'll beat down Spiky Hair."
Monitoring Room
The rest of the students were watching with anticipation. This was going exactly how Goku and Izuku said it would. To Katsuki, he likely assumed he'd caught them truly unaware.
"Bakugo is mad at those two." Yamcha commented.
"I'm more concerned with the fact that Bakugo actually tried to pull a sneak attack on them." Eijiro punched the palm of his hand. "I mean, what kind of a man actually tries that?"
"It is a viable strategy." All Might informed. "He's playing the part. Acting like a true Villain."
"It didn't work because they knew and dodged it." Mina declared amazed.
"Look, I think those two are going to make their move!" Denki informed directing everyone to the screen.
Building
Goku and Izuku shared a look before each sprinted in opposite directions shocking Bakugo.
That could only last for so long. "Hey, get back here damn it!"
He ended up chasing after Deku only to stop in confusion as the nerd was opening a window. He looked at Bakugo for a moment before jumping out, rolling into the landing, and sprinting well away from the building.
"DEKU!" Bakugo roared as his confusion dissipated, and he lept out the window after him. "Get back here bastard!"
Goku stopped running the moment he knew Bakugo had gone after Izuku. "That removes the potential for the rogue Villain to set off his own sides explosive through his Quirk." He started moving through the building. "Now, I just got to find and claim it to end this."
Training Ground Beta
Izuku eventually judged they were far enough away from the building and weapon. It was mostly down to the fact that any head start he'd had was gone through Bakugo using his Quirk to close the distance between them. So, he turned to make his stand.
"Finally done running, are you? Bakugo questioned. "Since you stopped without me having to say anything, I won't hurt you bad enough that they must stop the fight! JUST CLOSE!"
Katsuki came in with a right hook, but Izuku knew this was coming. He managed to grab his attacker's arm and throw the boy over his back making Katsuki land flat on the ground.
Izuku was panting. "Kacchan, you always use a big right hook to start a fight. I know because I've watched you for years." Katsuki got his head off the ground "I analyzed every amazing Hero, even you. I wanted to learn everything I could about them.
It was all in the notebook you burned and threw away." Katsuki looked even angrier than before.
"You can call me Deku, but I'm not that same helpless kid anymore! You hear me!? I've changed! From now on, Deku is the name of a Hero!"
Katsuki got up while growling at his target. "Deku." He was getting ready to let lose "You're shaking in your boots. You're so scared." He let out a few small explosions. "And you want to fight me anyway. THAT'S WHY I HATE YOU!"
"Bakugo, come in!" Tenya called out in his earpiece. "Give me a status report. Where are you?"
"Just shut up and defend the weapon!" Katsuki ordered. "I've got more important things to worry about!"
With Iida
"Are you forgetting what our mission is?" Iida replied trying to talk some sense into his 'ally' "Hello?" No response. "He hung up on me! This isn't the time for radio silence! We're supposed to be partners!"
Training Ground Beta
Katsuki blasted himself towards his target performing a spin kick that Izuku saw and blocked.
"Ballzy move." That almost sounded like a compliment coming from Bakugo. "Think you can take me alone?"
Katsuki then noticed Izuku start to wrap the capture tape around his leg. Midoriya stopped the moment Bakugo attempted to strike and dodged out of the way of another blast. Katsuki looked surprised while Izuku was getting more confident and keeping focused.
Monitoring Room
The rest of the class was impressed.
Yamcha grinned as he crossed his arms. "Whoa, that guy's not half bad."
"He's holding his own, and he hasn't even used his quirk yet!" Hanta commented.
All Might wasn't surprised. He knew Midoriya was great at acting under pressure and had all those notes as well.
Training Ground Beta
Midoriya had managed to avoid Bakugo even as he used his Quirk. The resounding explosions kicked up a lot of smoke while seemingly giving him some time to think.
"He kicked first this time." Izuku thought. "He's switching things up, so I can't predict his movements. Does that mean he's worried?"
The smoke cleared, and Katsuki was positioning himself again for an attack. Izuku knew now was the time to retreat since he had his breath back, and the momentary confusion would allow him to cover distance. If he were lucky, he could slip away into an alleyway as well.
When he ran, Bakugo's momentary confusion turned to rage. "Get back here Deku!"
Now, it was a wild goose chase. Izuku knew he had to avoid Katsuki while trusting Goku to get the payload. Then, this battle would be over. If Katsuki caught up to Midoriya, he'll be stuck with the bomber for an undetermined amount of time.
"DAMN IT!" Katsuki screamed. "You were tricking me for years by acting weak! Bet you've been laughing behind my back, huh!?" This shocked Izuku while he was still running. "GRAAAA!
So, where's that flashy power of yours now!? Let's see how it compares to mine!" Katsuki made small explosions as a method of tempting Izuku to come at him. "Quirk or no, you'll never beat me, Deku!"
He then started blasting around the city searching for Izuku like a hunter looking for his prey.
Izuku stopped to take a breather within an open alleyway. "Alright, I've done my job to the point that he's completely forgotten about the exercise. If they wanted to send someone out to stop us, it should have been Iida. He's faster while Bakugo would have served better as defense."
Building
Goku finally managed to locate the room with the bomb, and he moved to confront Iida. "Villain!" Iida looked at him as the determined Hero stood there with a firm expression. "Your misdeeds end here!"
"So, you've come Hero." Tenya declared sounding more over the top rather than the firmness Goku displayed. "I knew you would come alone the instant Bakugo ran off to engage with Midoriya. While your Quirk is strong, we both know I am faster!"
"Speed is rather subjective since we're comparable." Goku got into his stance. "When two clash, speed isn't all that determines the winner. Even if I were outmatched completely, it wouldn't prevent me from trying. Whether or not the people realize it, I must protect them!"
Training Ground Beta
"I'm all loaded up." Izuku heard Katsuki's voice, and he sounded frightfully calm.
Midoriya turned and saw his opponent lift his right arm, which glowed red for a second, up. "What does that mean?"
"Why aren't you using your fancy quirk?" Bakugo asked. "Don't tell me you're underestimating me, Deku." His irises shrunk, and he cracked a very sinister smile. "Get over here and show me what you're really made of."
Izuku turned and faced his opponent, capture tape in hand, ready for round two. "Kacchan, I'm not scared of you anymore!"
This made Katsuki angry, but he ended up calming himself down. "Since you're such a stalker, by now you probably know how my Quirk, Explosion, works. I secrete Nitroglycerin like sweat from my hands and make it blow up.
Imagine what I could do if I had a LOT of it." He continued speaking as he pulled the giant pin on his gauntlet to reveal a smaller pin. "That's right. These gauntlets aren't just for show. They've been storing up my sweat for one monster blast!"
He put his finger on the pin and took aim at Izuku. The One for All user's only hope of surviving would be to dodge it and pray he only gets skimmed.
"Young Bakugo!" All Might interjected. "Don't do it! You'll kill him!"
"He'll be fine as long as he dodges!" Bakugo remarked making it sound easy.
When he let it rip, the blast covered almost the entire alleyway. Izuku didn't see a way to dodge it and braced. It made the nearby buildings shake.
"Woah! This is nuts!" Kirishima pointed out.
"Come in!" All Might shouted into the mic. "Come in, Midoriya!"
Izuku was flat on his back looking like he just went through hell, but he was still alive. "Is that… even allowed?"
Izuku braced himself as he heard footsteps followed by Katsuki laughing. "These are awesome. The more Nitrosweat stored in these gauntlets, the stronger the explosion is. Go ahead and use your stupid Quirk, Deku. Even if you give me everything you've got, you'll never beat me."
Building
After that massive explosion, Iida was trying to contact Bakugo. This presented the ultimate distraction which Goku took advantage of. He got out his capture tape before running at Iida. While not as fast, the younger Shield was close enough that it didn't truly matter.
Iida panicked and attempted to kick Goku who bypassed it wrapping the tape around his leg. Before the speedy guy could attempt to get away, the younger Shield flipped him onto the ground. He then sped on over and laid a hand on the weapon.
Tenya could only stare at Goku in utter shock. "He really is a superior student…"
Training Ground Beta
"What's the matter?" Katsuki asked. "You look scared. You dodged the attack, so you can still fight, can't you? Come and get me!"
"The Hero team WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS!" All Might suddenly announced.
Izuku smiled.
"This was all part of your plan." Katsuki suddenly realized he'd been played for a fool which made him shake in anger. "You played me."
"Initially, it was Goku's; however, we ended up refining it down together." Izuku informed.
"You did it all without your Quirk." Katsuki growled. "Damnit!"
"I never intended to use it because my body can't handle it." Izuku retorted. "Yesterday, when I flicked that ball, you had to have seen it. Just imagine that if I punched, and you'll see my problem. My body can't handle the back lash of my own Quirk."
Katsuki was utterly shocked as he could now recall how Deku's finger looked, and he was rendered speechless.
Monitoring Room
Katsuki had his head down as he, Goku, Izuku, and Iida entered the monitoring room. Now, it was time to review the first battle of this training exercise.
"Well, despite the results, the MVP of this exercise is young Goku." All Might declared.
Everyone could see how that was possible; however, quite a few were thinking someone else on the Hero team deserved that honor.
"Shouldn't it be Izuku?" Tsuyu questioned. "He was the one who led Bakugo away and kept him busy."
"Valid question." All Might remarked. "Can someone tell me why I didn't pick Izuku or even one of the Villains for that matter? Who has a guess?"
"Sir, I can tell you why." Momo spoke up. "Goku and Iida both embraced their respective roles; however, Goku never lost sight of what was important. Additionally, he has an unmatched understanding of everyone else in this challenge.
That is genuinely impressive given he couldn't have known them for long. As for Bakugo, his judgment was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya and vice versa. Bakugo lost sight of the objective while Goku had to initially bring Izuku around to the objective.
Goku was a clear example of a Hero, understood the objective perfectly, never lost sight of his mission to secure the weapon, and he was the one who had the basis of a plan to begin with. While it's true Midoriya helped refine it, that is all he did."
Izuku was genuinely internalizing the critiques leveled against him, Bakugo hadn't moved his head, and Iida felt great shame in losing.
As for Goku, he rubbed his head. "I've always been told practical Hero work was my thing." He chuckled. "Honestly, it helps to view every situation like a form of battle."
"Yes, well… you overlooked a few things." All Might interjected. "Young Iida could have relaxed a little in the exercise; otherwise, you nailed it."
"One should always start with the basics and devote themselves whole heartedly to learning." Momo declared. "That's the only way to become a top Hero."
"I can only partially agree." Goku spoke up getting everyone's attention. "While learning is important, there are things that will be unpredictable. When the unpredictable comes along, you'll need to take chances. You can't rely on a pattern you have in your head all the time."
"Whoa, so manly." Kirishima declared while grinning.
Yamcha crossed his arms. "I like his style."
"While this is an illuminating conversation, we do have more matches to go through." All Might announced. "For each of them, I want you to think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself."
"Yes sir." Responded everyone except Bakugo.
The mission is to secure the weapons; however, Bakugo progressed to a point that he wouldn't have cared about any collateral damage. While some villains may very well want that weapon to go off for some reason, no hero really would. The simple solution is to remove the offending villain from the equation. Addtionally, things just wouldn't get to the point they did in canon, meaning Izuku is spared that trip to see Recovery Girl.
All For Anime: While I do love canon Goku, I do always wonder what it'd have been like if he attended classes. No, Evolution does not count. As for interactions with Mei, theirs one coming next chapter.
Guest: Eh, there's always going to be people that just don't like a concept, but I appreciate you gave this story a chance at least.
ArguableReader: You're not wrong when it comes to what you've said about tails; however, Oozaru has always really interested me as a concept in general. I will say that I don't plan too fully disregard the vast history of this form; however, it won't exactly be what you're thinking in terms of how I'm going to use it.
As for Goku here, how he was raised had a huge impact in his character. As you've said, being raised by David and having a sister like Melissa would give him at least above average intelligence. He obviously won't be some support guy, but he's by no means an idiot in book smarts. That coupled with proficiency in battle tactics does create quite the combination. As for Mineta and Rikado, I'll keep that in mind.
