The following week, he set the celebration plans into motion. Dobby helped by preparing a picnic for them. Harry had sent Cedric a note earlier that day asking him to meet him in the courtyard straight after the last class of the afternoon. It was already dusk, and the sun was beginning to set. Harry had slipped out of Professor Binns lesson a few minutes early, the ghost hadn't even noticed. He now stood wrapped in his traveling cloak clutching both he and Cedric's brooms which he had retrieved from the broom shed. He waited. Cedric arrived promptly after classes, looking gorgeous. Harry couldn't help but beam when he saw him. The courtyard was empty apart from themselves, Cedric cast a quick glance around before, catching Harry's face in his hands and kissing him hard on the lips. "Happy 3-month Anniversary!" He murmured as they broke apart. Harry bit his lip and grinned, "Happy 3 months you." He blushed.
"You remembered," Cedric smirked teasingly.
"I know, I'm so sorry about last month." He rambled apologetically. "I've written it down in about six different place and I've told Hermione now, so she will keep me in check too." Cedric smiled at this. "Seriously don't worry about it. So now," He pondered "How come you have my broom?" He raised an eyebrow.
"You'll see." Harry said trying to be mysterious. He took Cedric's hand and let them towards the quidditch pitch.
Once on the pitch Harry handed Cedric his broom. "Follow me." He said, mounting his broom and kicking off into the air. Cedric followed quickly. They flew high, Harry led the way. He flew up and away from the pitch. After a few minutes they were level with the top of the castle. He landed gently on a small turret. Cedric followed suit. The space was only just big enough for them both on their brooms. They both dismounted and harry took Cedric's broom and lent them out of the way. He then pulled out the picnic basket Dobby had hidden for him earlier that day. He held it up "So I thought we could have dinner up here, watch the sunset".
Cedric gaped. "Harry- this is- amazing." He looked at the view of the castle and the beautiful grounds. The lake and the hilltops, everything beginning to glow in the orange sunset. "How on the earth did you find this spot?"
Harry shrugged "One time when I was flying," He sat down slowly on the tiles and patted the small space beside him. "Sit." He opened the picnic basket. "Eat," He handed him a wrapped plate of food.
Cedric smiled and took it, both boys gazed at each other for a few moments then out at the sunset. "This is amazing," Cedric whispered, "Thank you," He took Harry's free hand and squeezed it, before tucking into his food.
They enjoyed the picnic dinner and the setting sunset until it became completely dark. Harry was nestled in Cedric's arms when he sighed heavily "We should go back down,".
Cedric sighed too and nodded, placing a light kiss on the top of Harry's head. "Yep, I suppose we should. But" He wrapped his arms tighter around Harry, "I'm only warm because we're cuddling, if you move, I might freeze." Harry snuggled closer still into Cedric, turning to rest his head on Cedric's shoulder. He could just make out the exposed flesh of Cedric's neck, his pale skin bright in the moon light. Harry impulsively pressed his lips to the nape of Cedric's neck, marvelling at how cold it felt under his warm lips. Equally, Cedric gasped in surprise and pleasure at the contrast of Harry's moist, inviting mouth on his icy skin. Harry instantly felt his body react and mentally chided himself for his impulses, this was hardly the most sensible spot to fool around. Cedric must have been having a similar inward battle with himself because he groaned and shuffled slightly away from Harry. "You're dangerous Potter." He grimaced, but with a happy twinkle in his eye, Harry knew he enjoyed the tease. "We have to go back to the castle," He checked his watch hastily, "Its almost lights out and I still have an essay to finish."
Begrudgingly, both boys got up, detangling from each other, and suppressing their teenage impulses. The short broom ride back down to the grounds was less enjoyable than the outward flight, as the weather was now even colder, and the wind had picked up abit.
They shared a brief goodnight kiss in the empty entrance hall, but it was rushed as they heard voice's approaching from a corridor nearby.
