I'm sorry for the late update!

"Without warning he grabbed her waist and flew straight up. "

Chapter Seven: Conversations

RIN

Rin gasped as she felt the loss of ground beneath her feet, strong arms held her as the wind licked at her face. Her hair whipped around with the wind.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" She yelled.

This only made the demon Lord go faster towards the stars, he never looked at her. It was futile to ask him to stop, she knew how much she had angered him. His eyes appeared to be turning back to molten gold.

Truthfully, she loved being in his arms because she felt safe but it didn't alleviate her fears of being so high up. This was much different than flying on the back of Au-Un or Inuyasha who didn't fly but jumped very high.

'Where the hell is he taking me?' she thought curiously.

His momoko obstructed her view and even so it was dark. She wouldn't be able to see much anyways. Eventually, she gave up and even released her grip on his shoulders. Rin relaxed her whole body and just leaned back. This got Sesshomaru's attention, he stopped and floated in mid air.

Glancing into his cold eyes was proven to be a mistake because without warning he released her. The woman fought the urge to scream and closed her eyes tightly as she continued to fall back at an alarming speed, after a few seconds she was less afraid.

'He won't let me die.' she thought oddly. She didn't know how but she knew he wouldn't.

She opened her eyes. As if he heard her own thoughts, Sesshomaru was hovering above her and placed a hand at the base of her neck. The other was placed below her waist and he turned her til she was laying on his body, no longer falling.

The warmth of his body was relaxing as he hovered in mid air.

"That wasn't very nice my Lord." She muttered.

For the first time in all her years of traveling with him, she heard the demon scoff at her. It sounded so strange coming from his lips.

Rin busted into a fit of giggles above him.

Sesshomaru

'This human is completely relaxed while flying above the clouds and doesn't even scream when I drop her? How odd. She wasn't even fazed when I caught her and even now as we hover in the clouds she feels no fear of me or anger towards me. Does she trust me that much or has she gone mad at that village? No. Even trust has its limits.'

"That wasn't very nice my Lord." She muttered.

'She scolds me and laughs. How strange.' he thought

The yokai intended to bring her to the East mountains since she wished to go so badly but her reckless behavior made him angry. He knew he'd never let her hit the ground and it seemed she too knew that.

"Why do you laugh?"

She smiled, "I've never heard you scoff before Lord Sesshoamru, it's very unlike you."

'You're different Rin." He said.

"As are you my Lord. I've thought since I woke up in the clearing." She admitted.

Calmness washed over Sesshomaru's body as she continued to speak on his various oddities for a few minutes.

"Why did you leave the village Rin."

The woman sighed loudly, "I didn't want to be there anymore. I tried to fit in and I thought briefly about settling there or even going to another village, I really did. It wasn't where I wanted to be. I felt that all my years at the village I was anchored and waiting for something. I realized you weren't coming either. Why would I stay? Most women my age are married with children but I just can't see myself fitting in that role."

"You don't want children?" he asked quizzically.

"Maybe one day but I'm still young. I want more, I want to travel and go where I please. I realized as well, that compared to people in the village I'd seen more than they ever have and I want to continue to do so. I'm a wanderer my Lord and it took less than two years to figure that out but ten to actually leave." She explained.

"Why not seek me out then. It's dangerous and reckless to go on your own."

"I wouldn't know where to find you, my Lord. Besides you left me in the village and I haven't seen you in ten years. In my eyes, you weren't going to come back for me so why would I seek you out? I'd feel like a burden again. I am curious about that though. Why did you leave me in the village?" said Rin.

Sesshomaru thought carefully about how to respond. How to explain she wasn't a burden to him.

Finally he said, "You wanted to travel with me but that's all you'd ever done since you were a child. You needed to experience how humans live, not demons. The choice was always your own. To stay or leave," he said quietly, "I was never far away."

"What do you mean my Lord?" Rin asked, lifted her head a little.

Her eyebrows pushed together as she gazed at him with uncertainty.

"I knew the moment you left the village. I kept my distance." he said coldly.

"That's how he caught me so fast when I was falling out of the sakura tree." She realized.

"Foolish." He scolded.

Rin playfully hit his armor. Sesshomaru lifted his head with a glare. His arms and momoko wrapped around her as he continuously turned them in the air. Rin clung to the top of Sesshomaru's armor and laughed at his antics.

Sesshomaru stopped, his arms still fastened around the laughing human below him.

"Are you going to drop me again Sesshomaru?" she laughed.

"Hm."

Sesshomaru began to fly again but at a much slower pace than before.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"East." he said curtly.

Rin smiled and looped her arms under his and grasped the back upper portion of his armor for extra support. He looked down at her questionably.

Rin shrugged her shoulders, "Incase you decide to drop me again."

Sesshomaru tightened his grip on her hips. His face remained neutral but her closeness affected him more than he'd admit.

RIN

'What is this feeling? I always felt safe with him as a child but this felt different. More intimate than before. He said he was never far away... that means he never forgot about me.'

Too soon they landed and she reluctantly let go and took a step back. Sesshomaru detached her little bag from his waistband, she didn't even know he had grabbed it.

"Oh thank you my Lord!" she said with a bow.

"There is a stream here," he stated. Lord Sesshomaru turned around.

"Will you stay my Lord?" Rin asked quietly.

He stopped and began walking to his left towards a tree. He sat down and didn't look at her.

'That's a yes.' she thought happily.

Rin gathered twigs for fire wood and caught two fish from the streams. After she ate, she turned away from Lord Sesshoamru's direction and began to remove the top part of her kimono to replace the bandage on her arm. Lord Sesshomaru once again appeared by her side as she struggled with placing the wrap around her arm. His eyes never left her arm. He then rose to his feet, threw the used wraps into the fire, and then proceeded to his spot by the tree.

"Thank you again," she said quietly.

"Why the east mountains…" he said looking at the moon.

"Because of how isolated it is, no one here can judge me."

Sesshomaru turns his eyes to her, "People judged you in the village?"

Rin squirmed under his gaze, "Yes. I'm different from most of them and having lived with demons. I don't have the prejudice that they do. After Lady Kaede died, I tried to help Kagome take over but no one really wanted me around them."

Sesshomaru's eyes turned cold, "Continue."

Rin refused me to meet his eyes, "There isn't much else to tell…"

"Look at me when you're speaking. I can't smell a lie." He stated harshly.

Rin looked at him and continued, "Many believed I'm a bad omen or a curse bearer because of my past with demons and because of that they didn't want me helping them. I spent most of my time with Lord Inuyasha."

Sesshomaru said nothing and stared at her. Waiting patiently for her to continue.

Sensing this Rin ran a hand through her dark hair and said, "I also refused any marriage proposals and the women of the village thought it was wrong for a woman my age to not be married much less refuse multiple marriage proposals. I never fit in there."

Sesshomaru sensed many emotions from her. Sadness and loneliness were the most prominent. She was always such a happy child and even as a woman she is happy, to hear her speak of how the villagers treated her made him angry. Even though he doesn't show it, he cares for her dearly.

"Come Rin."

Rin stood up and began walking closer to him, she stopped by his feet.

"Sit." he commanded.

Sesshomaru wasn't good with words, he never was. So, he leaned forward and pulled her to the right of his chest where his momoko was.

"My Lor-" she started.

Sesshomaru cut her off, "Sleep Rin."

The demon Lord closed his eyes and said no more.

Rin watched him for a while, admiring the sharp angles of his face and the beautiful marking on his cheeks and forehead. She briefly wondered if he had anymore markings on his body, her cheeks flamed at the idea of exploring him and tried desperately to stop thinking of it as she fell asleep.

However, Lord Sesshomaru sensed her emotions as she starred at him, and smelt how aroused she was by her thoughts
