Death was upon him. He couldn't cheat death this time. He knew it the moment the gun was pointed at him. The millisecond it took for the bullet to fire from the gun and enter his skull.
He died at the age of 17.
He had no regrets. He had been waiting for this since even before he was recruited by Dr. J for the Gundam Pilot program. Death was inevitable. And he cherished the thought of never having to fight again. To forever sleep. And darkness would encompass him like a warm blanket. And all would be forgotten.
Oddly, it never happened. Instead of the darkness and endless sleep he expected, he received a blinding light. No less encouraging, but slightly disappointing.
Rather than the end of all ends, he felt a new life breath into him once again. A new purpose fill his mind. Only it felt different from every other purpose he had ever felt.
He wondered, if he had somehow survived? But that should have been impossible. From the trajectory of the gun and the proximity, he would have been shot in the head and had no time to dodge. Although rare instances have occurred where people have survived such predicaments and much worse.
Before he could think more in depth, the bright light seemed to fade, leaving him standing in a vast white emptiness. Standing yes. With no sight or feeling of any injury what so ever. Standing very much there in his normal attire.
Perhaps he merely survived and was currently in a coma? No. He'd been in a coma before. Numerous times in fact and they were nothing like this. And he certainly never dreamed before with the thanks of Dr. J.
Something in his gut told him that this was not a dream anyway. Or even a hallucination. He didn't know what it was but he knew what it wasn't. If he trusted anything, it was his gut instinct.
Someone laughed behind him when he knew he just checked around him, and saw nothing but vast white emptiness surrounding him. But sure enough he was there.
Heero spun around, with his hand ready to train on his gun, had it been there. Standing a few yards away was a boy around his age. A year or two younger with brown hair and wearing a strange green outfit. And his ears, they were pointed. Yet they looked natural in a way that complimented his sharp features.
Said boy was currently spinning around in circles with his arms spread out and looking up as he did. Laughing and smiling without a care in the world, in a way that even Duo couldn't.
The boy stopped spinning and looked directly at him. His green eyes piercing Heero's hard blue eyes without any sign of fear or hesitation.
"Hello." He spoke with a slight British accent. "My name is Peter. And I will be your guide to the afterlife." He finished with a bow.
