Disclaimer: I don't own Slayers. Neither do I own "Those Were the Days" by Mary Hopkins. If you thought otherwise, you should have your wisdom teeth removed because they obviously aren't doing you much good!

Author Note: Naga the Serpent is a vain, overbearing fool; there is no questioning that fact. She single-handedly made Lina Inverse's early years as an adventurer a living purgatory ('twasn't bad enough to be considered hades). Still, I can't help but feel that Lina probably misses her every now and again. Gourry may be loyal, Zelgadis may be stoic and collected, and Amelia may be as cute as a button, but let's face it: nobody made life "interesting" quite like Naga did. In light of that, I present this song for your reading pleasure, sung by the one and only Lina Inverse:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When we first met, you were on a burning tavern
You fell in, so I thought you were a fool
It turns out I was right, but you had powers
That even I must admit were pretty cool

Those were the days, my friend
I thought they'd never end
I couldn't wait until you finally went away
You'd insult my breast size
And my narrow thighs
But on reflection, man those were the days
La, la, la, la, la, la...

Now you're gone, and I have new partners
They're very nice but just a little bland
To my surprise, I long for burning taverns
And a buxom bimbo with gloved hands

Those were the days, my friend
We'd kick bad-guy rear end
No demon could ever stand in our way
We drank tons of booze
We'd fight and never lose
When bandits saw us, they bowed, cried, and prayed
La, la, la, la, la, la...

Just tonight I stood before a tavern
Gourry went inside to fill his gut
I sigh and say "I thought I'd never miss you.
You were a pain and a nuisance, but..."

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
It all passed by like we were in a daze
Yeah, you were a dope
But I really hope
That our paths will cross again someday
La, la, la, la, la, la...

Then from the door I hear demented laughter
My face lights up, and I loudly say,
"Naga, come out; I know you want to fight me
and I wouldn't have it any other way!"

These are the days, my friend
They do not have to end
Even though we may have parted ways
Naga, you're my pal
But I'm afraid I shall
Have to defeat you; man, these are the days!
La, la, la, la, la, la...
