Hermione Granger threw herself to the floor. "Brilliant," she whispered to herself. The workout had been exhausting, and sweat dripped off her brow. The only thing she had been working harder than these dance pieces were her songs. Despite all the hours she had overworked herself to get in, the artistic camp she was attending for the summer was the most prestigious in the country. She had risked a lot, including lying to her friends to be at lessons and sneaking out of Hogwarts, to be where she is now.

As she gathered her things from the studio and began the drive home Hermione thought back to her last day at the school.

"Ron, its not my fault that we have grown apart! You and Harry have been so obsessed with the war since the end of last year! I admit that I was a part of it all then, but its Harry's destiny! There is no-"she was cut off by a hard jab across her face. Ron continued to beat her as she sobbed into her hands. "You cant disrespect me like that, bitch! You'll learn." After what seemed like hours to Hermione, Ron was satisfied with the damage and he left the room, leaving Hermione helpless. She had just lay there for a while, not making and noise. Then, she composed herself enough to gather her things from the dorm and head to the train.

She shook her head violently to clear it of the images. "I promise myself, I will find new love at this camp if it's the last thing I ever do," She thought. She popped a CD into the car's changer and pressed play. On this disc was an assortment of songs without the words. "Practice makes perfect" was written on the label. The first song came on and Hermione began to sing.

We need to talk despite the hour,

cause just like time this comes too late.

You've been telling me I need to change,

Or else you'll go away.

I've been searching every inch of me to find within myself

A way to give you what you want and not become somebody else.

You just want my passion,

You don't want my pain

You don't even really care

Whats inside my brain.

You think that I dunno whats going on behind my back

But you seem to underestimate this very simple fact

I wont let you hurt me

I wont let you have your way

I wont lay down and shut my mouth so you can brag the next day

I wont be a trophy

I wont let you mistake

So I guess you got your wish

Cause Babe I promise things are gonna change.

The things that brought you to me

Now are the very things you hate

Its becoming very clear to me that you're the one that's changed

I thought that we could make it last

I would love you all my life

But when you tell me I'm not good enough

Then no its just not right

I wont let you hurt me

I wont let you have your way

I wont lay down and shut my mouth so you can brag the next day

I wont be a trophy

I wont let you mistake

So I guess you got your wish

Cause Babe I promise things are gonna change.

The final beat rang out and her hit the note dead on, which was a first for her.

Her last thought before she drifted off to sleep at her flat: "I'm ready, Life. Come and get me!"
