Ends of the Rainbow,

By winterwing3000

It was raining, again.

Funny, it always seemed to rain whenever I was looking for him.

The first time when I had heard about his whereabouts, I had immediately grabbed a bento (packed with Shiro's best onigiri); most of my earning that I had saved up over the past years and my most treasured cloak. The sky was clear and the sun high, meaning very little chance of bad weather, however… Mother Nature didn't seem to like my plan of finding him and poured her tears down to earth. Disgruntled, I was forced to retreat back to the Aoiya for shelter and knowing that once the rain had stopped, he was most likely somewhere far away by now.

Why was it that I'm at the beginning of the colorful arch while he waswandering somewhere along the wide curve?

The next few times I had heard a rumor or just a small bit of my precious Okashira, it had rained and rained, keeping me at one side of the rainbow, never allowing me to move any further. But that didn't keep me down. No, it didn't. Determination and my love for him fueled my blood, pushing me on.

After two months of delays, I had finally gotten sick of the rain. Stomping out of the restaurant, I headed down to the market to do some shopping for Okon. It had suddenly stopped raining and the rainbow bent overhead as the sun shone. The different shades of colors sparkled above me as the dark clouds disappeared. The blue and indigo blue glittered green, very much like his eyes… I wonder… is he still with Hannya? Shijikou? Hyottoko? Beshimi? Or… is he on his own, all alone now? I can't bear that, no, he wasn't meant to be alone. He was meant to be with others, to be happy and to be loved.

If he's alone at the other end of the rainbow, I'll go to him! But… I still need to find him first.

As I by passed some alleys, some words caught my attention from nearby police officers. "-Heard that the man took off the four heads and ran from Edo."

"I heard that he was from Kyoto, something about ninjas."

"Yeah, I heard that too. Shinamori or something. Anyways, I'm starved…"

That was enough information for me. Taking the basket, I quickly darted back to the Aoiya, shoved the groceries into Omasu's empty hands and skipped up the stairs and stopped short at my bedroom door. Hastily tying on my little belongings, I also pulled out the note from under the futon and tossed it over to the table then slipped on the purple cloak. Looking around my surroundings once more, I jumped out of the windows and ran towards the forest, on the way to Edo.

I was going to reach to the other end of the rainbow, even if it rains. And the rainbow over my head is my witness… as it sees me finally setting off to find my Aoshi-sama, who was waiting for me at the other end of our rainbow…

AN: Yeah, uh, sketchy, but I love it! Especially rainbows and rain! Lol, this is for the ShinobiLove April Challenge!
