"Why do you care about what happens to me! All I am is a shard-detector, remember!" Kagome screamed at the half-demon.

"So what if I did thank that, huh?" Kagome stopped and stared. He really did think she was jsut a shard-detector. He would never feel the way she did. He loved Kikyo, not her. Kagome felt unbearable rage and sadness. She didn't know how to deal with it. So she fled.

Kagome sat on the roots of the god tree. The rain beat heavily on the ground and her tears did as well. Inuaysha walked towards her. The smell of her tears bombarded his nostrils. He hated it when she cried.

"Kagome..." Kagome jumped at the sound of his voice. She wiped her face with her sleeves and turned to him with a fake smile.

"Oh! Hey Inuyasha!" She hoped he wouldn't notice she had been crying. Taking for granted the amount of time she had been crying, it was kind of obvious. She sniffed.

"You've been crying, haven't you?"

"Of course not! I'm just," Sniff. "Catching a cold is all!"

"Well either way, it's not good." Kagome looked to her feet. He had noticed. She was such a bad liar. Kagome suddenly felt something wrap around her shoulders. His red kimono draped around her as Inuyasha stood in the rain without it.

"Thank you." She smiled. For real this time.

"I'm sorry..."

"For what?"

"For... For what I said before. I didn't mean that..." They both looked each other in the eye. They stood for a while. Rays of light began to shine from beneath the clouds as the rain slowed steadily. Kagome could see he was hurting.

"Inuyasha..."

"Kagome..." She touched her hand to Inuaysha's cheek. He blushed dramatically and looked away.

"Do you... Inuyasha, do you love me?" Inuyasha wanted to smile, pull her into his arms, and tell her how he really felt. But he couldn't, he promised Kikyo...

"No..." He felt tears sting his eyes and hid them from her. Kagome felt someone had crushed her heart with one hand. He gently lifted her hand away from his face. Tears slid down her face. Inuyasha looked up and wiped them off her cheek. She looked into his eyes again. She could see it in his eyes, he was almost as bad a liar as she was.

"Inuyasa... Are you lying to me?" His heart was pounding wildly. She could tell. She could tell his wasn't telling the truth. His head hurt, he couldn't think clearly. He loved Kagome, but he had promised Kikyo to go to hell with her. He didn't want to lose both of them. His demon and human side were both screaming at him. He let the words escape his lips. He didn't want to hold it in any longer. She had to know. Screw the consequences, she had to know.

"Yes..."

"Yes what?"

"I'm lying to you...Kagome... I love you." Kagome's eyes shined with happiness but tears still slid down her face. "Kagome, please don't cry." He moved forward to wipe the tears away again but Kagome threw herself at him.

"Inuyasha... I love you too!" Inuyasha was stunned. He smiled from ear to ear and held her close to him. He pulled back a little. "Inuyasha..." Kagome whispered. They both closed the space between them and their lips met. Kagome had waited for this so long and it was finalyl happening. They finally pulled apart for air.

"We should go back now. The other might be worried."

"Right." Inuyasha picked her up and they returned to Kaede's village.
