The rain poured steadily, but Usagi barely even noticed. Even as her impossibly long cornsilk hair, loose of its perpetual odangos, plastered against her back and down past her knees, her eyes never left the concrete beneath her feet. The night was cold, almost bitterly so, the storm adding a bite to the wind and the icy rain almost painful against the skin of the pedestrians hurrying home, but this one girl plodded at such a slow pace, eyes shining ominously and cheeks flushed pink, you would never know there was such unpleasant weather if not for the water coursing over her form. In her hand was a bottle, too large to be of soda or water. When she lifted it to her pink lips the label was easily readable: Diablo Fine Sake. Sympathetic gazes followed this small girl as she turned the corner and began slowly climbing up the steps that would lead to a shrine.

Halfway up, Usagi gave up her trek and slumped on the stone steps. She chuckled slightly as she lifted the bottle once again to her lips and drank deeply, the pouring rain slapping against her upturned face. When she paused for breath the moon caught her eye, peeking through a slight break in the dark clouds. Her eyes narrowed to angry blue slits and she pointed an accusing finger as she slurred at the sky.

"You lied to me! You told me.. that there was hope! You told me love was re.. real! Youu.. said it was more than just a passhing dream!"

Although she didn't realize, her own tears had joined the cold rain that poured down her face as she stood, anguish twisting her pretty face.

"You told me I had nothing to be afraid of! But that was all a lie! I hate you," Her vehement whisper seemed alien to Usagi's own ears, but she couldn't stop the screech as it rose in her throat. "I HATE YOU!"

She launched the half empty bottle at the moon, but it fell far short into the trees not far beyond where she stood. Her anger spent, Usagi collapsed back onto the stone and sobbed brokenly far into the night.
