Insanity

It's all a dream, right? My entire life was a dream, wasn't it? I never had a twin, I never entered an old and lost village and I certainly didn't kill my own twin with my own hands…. Or did I? How could I just wake up by the stream we used to always use to play by and find you gone? You couldn't have existed…It's impossible!

Mayu…Were you really a dream? Was my entire life just some wishful fantasy turned into a dreaded nightmare? It's impossible. I'm stuck in limbo with my thoughts just like those…those…could you even call them human? They couldn't have been humans…couldn't have been! It's impossible ghosts don't exist!

Someone, anyone give me an answer. I can't go on living like this. The days drag on with that single question on my mind. How could all of that have been real? How…how could I have killed my own twin?

Everyone is acting as if you never existed. Don't they realize you are gone? Don't they realize I am becoming a pale, empty shell of what I used to be? Where are you Mayu? I need you Mayu!
Come back to me, please. Come back and show me none of that happened. Prove to me it was just an awful dream. Please…I beg of you to save me from this abyss. This abyss just like the one those…things threw you into.

I crushed you with my strength, my love. I killed you with my love. I am slowly fading away, becoming a ghost of my former self. I miss the days I spent with you, Mayu. The days by the stream, playing hide and seek, our promises to never part. I miss it all. Even if you were just a dream, I wish I could fall asleep forever and be with you.

Mayu, come save me. Oh Mayu…Save me and stop the river running down my wrists. Come and save me Mayu! Hurry!

Mio

The doctor finished reading and looked at the girl before him. Her alabaster hair blended in with her pale skin stretched over her anorexic body. Her brown eyes were sunken and surrounded by dark rings from long, sleepless nights. His eyes glanced to the stark white bandages around her wrists. A loosely fitting hospital band stood out against the white.

"Is this why you did it Mio? You wanted to be with this Mayu person?" The doctor spoke softly. He didn't get it at all. He didn't get it! Mio stared at him her lips moved wordlessly. He doesn't understand she thought bitterly.

"You will never understand… You never had to kill your own sibling…" She hissed. Her words were tremulous though, making the statement less serious than it should have been. "You will never understand!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Insane laughter filled the room. Two male nurses grabbed the girl and threw her onto the white cot. Everything was white. The clothing, the walls, her bed, her bindings, everything was a mad white. The nurses bound the thin frame to the bed before the doctor tried to speak again.

"Is this Mio person the reason you hurt yourself?" He spoke slowly, as if he was talking to a small child not an almost grown girl. Mayu's brown eyes slowly moved to the doctor before she spat on him.

"You will never understand! No one will ever understand!" She screeched. The doctor shook his head and stood, leaving the room. The two male nurses flanked him. Slowly the door began to close, leaving Mio inside and strapped to the bed.

"Mayu…Mayu…" She began to chant her twin's name, both laughing hysterically and crying at the same time. She stopped at what she thought was a red glimmer outside the door. "Mayu?" She repeated, staring at the little window in her door. "Mayu!" She screeched, struggling madly against her bindings. "Mayu! Help me Mayu!"
