Wolfling: I aimed to write this as Sara/Greg, but it turned that I could imagine it involving most pairings which involve a she. It still sounds like Greg to me though. I think it's just because I can imagine him standing soaked to the bone with equally soaked flowers in front of a house looking very downhearted. Aw. R+R, if you will.
It's kind of sad really.
I give off subtle hints like a fire gives off light, but when it all comes to it my feet freeze to the floor.
That's why I'm standing on her doorstep with flowers in my hand. Red ones.
It's getting cold. Very cold. Perhaps too cold, but I'll go numb in a bit anyway so it doesn't necessarily matter.
My brain is numb already. It's like my feet refuse to listen to my head. At all. Whatsoever. Maybe I should go home, revise the plan, and invite her to breakfast instead.
Snap out of it! I came this far I can't stop now! It would be nice to just go home, out of the cold, relax with a hot mug of coffee and a DVD.
Be nicer to do all that with her.
I must look so stupid standing here like I'm frozen. Which I might just be, I stopped feeling my limbs around five minutes ago.
Deep breath. Reach out. Press the doorbell. Go, do it. Do it. MOVE.
Or not. Fine, just sit there you stupid hand!
I can see my breath coming out as steam.
One last try.
'Ding Dong!' The bell rings cheerfully, breaking the uneasy silence.
The rain breaks the uneasy silence too, crashing down on my head and soaking my shirt. She better get the door soon or I'll catch pneumonia.
Two minutes.
Five minutes.
Seven minutes.
Does it really take that long?
Ten minutes.
Twelve minutes.
This is insane.
Maybe she's in the shower? I'll call her, yeah I'll call her, she'll be home, probably just can't hear the doorbell.
'Hi, Sorry I'm not in at the moment please leave a message after the tone'
She's not in.
I sigh. Yet again, she's left me standing on her doorstep, frozen to the core with a heavy heart and a hand full of flowers. Red ones. Like blood.
I'll just leave them here for her, they'll be as miserable and soaking wet as I am, maybe she'll take the hint.
