Wow. Really short... I wrote this in my notebook a couple of weeks ago and I only just got round to typing it up, but I did, so here you go:

Rei yawned and stretched. "Morning Kai." Kai groaned and buried his face in Rei's hair. He mumbled something, then sat up. Rei smiled up at him. "What was that?"

"Nothing." Came the short reply. Rei sat up and caressed Kai's cheek tenderly.

"You're tense. What's wrong?" Kai shied away from his touch and stood up.

"Nothing's wrong!" Rei watched as he snatched his clothes from the floor and yanked them on.

"Kai, are you okay?"

"I'm fine!" Snapped Kai. Rei frowned.

"Have I done something wrong, Kai?"

Kai didn't reply, only slammed out of the room. Rei laid back down, feeling sad. So he'd done something to upset Kai. Had he perhaps called out the wrong name? He smiled. No. He knew he hadn't done that. Maybe...he'd forgotten something? A birthday, perhaps? He looked over at the calendar, but nothing was marked down.

With a sigh, he got dressed and went downstairs. "Have you seen Kai?" He asked. Tyson pointed vaguely out of the window, eyes glued firmly to the TV screen. Rei looked out and saw Kai sitting under a tree, eyes closed tightly.

Rei went out of the house and crept over to him. "Kai?" Kai's eyes snapped open. "Whatever I've done, I'm sorry." He sat down beside Kai and looked deep into his eyes. Kai frowned.

"Why do you think it was something -you- did? Guilty conscience?"

"Well...no. But I couldn't think of another reason for you to be so angry with me..."

"It's nothing."

"Then why won't you just act normal? You're all jumpy, and nervous. It's like you're guilty or something!"

"Well it's your fault!"

"Well if you just tell me what I've done I'll apologise! Kai, why are you acting like this?"

Kai looked away and sighed. "You can't make apologies for me loving you." Rei stared at him, puzzled. "I said 'I love you'. This morning, when you asked me what I said...I said...I love you."

"Oh."

"But it scared me, Rei. I've never...confessed something like that before. I needed to get away and think..." Rei smiled and took hold of Kai's hand.

"I thought I'd forgotten your birthday..."

Kai shook his head and pulled Rei closer. "I just had to think about what I said...to be sure that I meant it."

"Did you?" Kai nodded.

"Yes. I love you, Rei."

"Good, because I love you too."
