Tarash 514 usually considered herself lucky. Emily, at least, got a decent amount of sleep most of the time.

Even if she did have to be reminded at times, like today, to put away her homework and go to bed.

Emily, Tarash nudged at her host's mind. Gently, of course. Time for bed. It's past 1:30.

Hold on, Tarash, came the distant reply. I want to get out these ideas.

Tarash sighed. Emily, the paper's not due for another week and a half.

But I'm inspired now, her host protested. And I'm not really tired.

Yes, you are, Tarash protested. Then continued, And if you're not now, you will be when your alarm clock wakes you up at 9 in the morning and you will not have gotten enough sleep.

If my body's not tired now, it won't go to sleep. I've tried enough times before, Emily protested.

Tarash turned her host's eyes towards the clock, which caused Emily to stop typing.

I can't see the keyboard, she complained.

Good. Now, let's go to bed.

Five more minutes.

I gave you five minutes yesterday. It became an hour and a half.

Yeah, well, that was different. This is schoolwork.

Emily, I'm serious. If you don't get into bed right now, I'll make you.

Emily glared at Tarash. I thought you didn't believe in taking control without your host's permission.

I don't, usually. But when they're going to make themselves sick from lack of sleep, that's where I draw the line.

Emily sighed, knowing that she was defeated. Fine, she grumbled.

She finished her sentence, saved her work, turned off the lights, and got into bed.

Night, Tarash, she mumbled as she pulled the covers over her, tucking them around her.

Sweet dreams, Em.
