Hermione left it out. It was her old copy of An Appraisal of Magical Education in Europe. It looked interesting enough and Harry was bored. So while he and Remus enjoyed another silent lunch because neither of them knew what to say, he opened to a random chapter.
So why did you go to Hogwarts? asked Harry after he finished reading a small bit on the tutors and apprenticeships which the Ministry funded. Remus gave Harry a sideways look.
Well, you were a werewolf. It says in here that the Ministry provides private tutors for cases like that or if a student is a muggleborn who wants to keep going to their muggle school.Oh. I was going to have a tutor but then came affirmative action and the funding linked to that. My parents heard that Dumbledore was trying to fulfill the requirements and signed me up. Remus said, I was kind of miffed about not being able to stick around, but as it turned out going to Hogwarts was better. Or at least more fun.
Harry nodded. Then thought about it. If the student population of Hogwarts had to reflect the population of the UK... What about vampires, veela, and various ethnic groups? The Snapes, the Malfoys, and Hogwarts generally gives out scholarships to muggleborns and halfbloods who fit the profiles needed. Remus answered with a wave of his hand.
So Professor Snape is a vampire? Harry asked, And Malfoy is a veela? And Harry finished his sandwich and soup without reading anymore.
