In winter

When the artic winds blow

And the bitter snow falls

I sleep among the frozen hills.

Locked in icy fields and

The cold numbs me of all feeling.

I have a respected profession

In care of those who are ill

And protector of members of my family.

>

The spring came.

The fresh sweet winds whispered

And melted all that was covered

And frozen. She melted away

The ice of my heart

And new life budded

As flowers blanketed the fields

And swayed in the loving breeze

And I felt love for the first time.

>

The summer

Heated the passionate winds

And the birds did call and sing

Life blossomed and laughed

As never before. Secrets were

Revealed and commitments were made.

It was a wonderful dream

For once I was allowed to live

And discover what happiness is.

>

In autumn

All things would change.

The winds had departed

Life would hide or fly away

Leaves would color and die.

I would chose to let go

Of my greatest love.

I would erase my spring,

My summer, my autumn.

>

Winter returned

Touching its frozen hand

On all that lived

And I would sleep once again

In the frost upon the ground.

My heart gone cold

As well as all that I once

Held dear. Caught beneath the snow

Never to see spring again.
