Disclaimer: Not mine at all. Too bad.
A/N: YAY! They're ending the series! Normally, this wouldn't be a cause for happiness, but see, if DJE is leaving, it would be really annoying if they were to continue the series without him. Vukovic pisses me off, and I'm sure he pisses many other people off too. So, YAY that they're ending the series. Now, we just have to make sure those two DO something... Anyhow, please read and review my short (and hopefully funny) storry!
Return of Renee
A knock on the door roused Harm from his sleep. Stretching, he stumbled blearily to the door, which he opened.
"Hello, Harm."
"Renee?" That woke him up. "What are you doing here?" He suddenly felt slightly exposed in boxers and a t-shirt.
"Can I come in?" She sounded determined, and she stepped past him without waiting for an answer.
"Sure, why not," Harm muttered, shutting the door behind her. Rubbing tiredly at his face, he perched on the arm of a chair, while Renee took a seat on the couch.
"Look, Harm, we need to talk."
"Renee, I haven't seen you in a while. Last I heard you were happily married to your mortician. What do you want?"
"We got a divorce. I'm here because I wanted to ask if you would have dinner with me tonight."
Harm's eyes widened quite a bit. "You mean like a date?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
He ran a hand through his hair. "Renee, we're over. We were over a long time ago. Hell, you didn't even break up with me before getting engaged to someone else."
"I'm sorry about that, Harm. I'd really like another shot at this. I know we can make it work this time..." She stood up and walked over, invading Harm's personal space until he almost fell off the chair trying to scoot away. "Harm, please..."
A sleepy voice came from the bedroom doorway. "Honey, you left your weddng ring on the bathroom sink, again. Oh, hi, Renee. What are you doing here?"
Mac walked across the room to kiss Harm on the cheek, then wrapped her arms around him possessively. Harm smiled at her. "She's just back in town and wanted to stop in and say hi."
Mac nodded, then untangled herself from Harm. "Well, don't be too long. It's already 0838 and we've got an ultrasound appointment at 1115." She headed off into the kitchen.
Renee, needless to say, looked embarassed. "I'm sorry, Harm. I didn't realize you'd already built a family."
"Yeah, it's a miracle. So you see why your idea of dinner doesn't work."
"Yeah, I guess."
"Goodbye, Renee."
"Goodbye, Harm." She got up and left, with one wistful glance back at the door.
Mac stuck her head back into the room. "Is she gone?"
"Yeah." Harm grinned. "Since when are we married? And expecting kids?"
"She wasn't going to go away otherwise!" Mac defended herself.
"Jealous, Ninja Girl?"
"Never, Flyboy. I trust you... and the fact that you know what I'd do to you if you ever cheated on me."
"Damn right." Harm pulled her over and kissed her. Yeah, there were definitely perks to dating Sarah Mackenzie...
