Memories of The Past.

"So tell us." Kheela said with a bright grin. "How did you two crazy kids meet?"

I gave a deep sigh. "It's a long story." I said.

"In that case," she replied, sitting down straddling a chair, "We really want to know."

I glanced around the room at the curious faces staring at me. Realizing I couldn't get out of it, I squared my shoulders and began my tale.

"It starts with the Gods of Olympus. Particularly Zeus. King of the Gods, ruler of Olympus, and the biggest horndog you could ever meet. He spent every possible moment chasing after every set of tits and ass that caught his eye." My expression darkened. "Including my mother."

Their eyes widened at that. "So you're the daughter of Zeus?" Relena asked.

I shot her a sideways glance. "I believe I just said that." I murmured. Her face scrunched up slightly and she seemed to shrink inside herself. Lt. Noin put her arm around the girl in comfort. I felt bad for upsetting her. Okay, I felt like a major jerk. Moving over quickly I knelt down to look her in the eyes. "I'm sorry." I apologized quietly. "I'm a little testy when it comes to talking about my father."

Relena smiled at me feeling better. "You must have had a lot of trouble from Hera then." She said.

I looked at her puzzled. "Auntie Hera? Why?"

"I thought Hera was very jealous of Zeus' affairs."

"Oh she certainly got pissed off." I answered her. "But at Zeus. Not at my mother or any of the other women. And certainly not at me."

"I guess I understand." she said. "Greek mythology is filled with stories of Zeus' sexual escapdes."

"Well, that was 'daddy'" I said with disgust. "He never cared about me, or Mother, or anybody else. He only cared about himself. Himself and his next fuck. Until he set his eyes on Persephone."

"The Goddess of Spring." Iria replied.

"Correct. Persephone was married to Zeus' brother Hades. Unllike Zeus though, Hades was a decent and honorable God. He always acted fairly, and never went for spite and personal gain." I smiled at the memory. "Persephone adored him."

"And Zeus wanted to fuck Persephone?" Duo asked. "Even though this was his brother's wife?"

"Watch your mouth, braided-baka." I snarled. "That's your mother you're talking about." I watched him swallow nervously with some satisfaction and continued. "Zeus wanted to do it especially because it was Hades' wife. But he didn't want to use his usual method of seduction. Disguising himself to distract his target and hide from Hera. He wanted Persephone to willingly give herself to him so he could throw it in his brother's face."

"Oh wow." Kheela's eyes were wide with excitement. "This is even better than a soap-opera."

I laughed at that. "Then you'll love the next part. Zeus figured the best way to break up Hades and Persephone was to make trash Hades squeaky clean image. For that task, he turned to Athena."

"The Goddess of wisdom." Quatre supplied.

"Yes." I looked over at my love. "Also Wufei's mother." His eyes widened in shock, as I gently stroked his cheek. "The next part may be painful koibito." I murmered. "Are you sure you want to hear it?" His eyes closed for a second before he reached up to capture the hand still resting on his face. He looked into my eyes before nodding, and I returned to my tale.

"Athena was also Zeus' daughter. In fact, she was 'Daddy's little angel'. She would do anything Zeus asked of her." I felt a stab of anger build up. "Including cry 'rape'.

Everyone gasped "You don't mean..?" Hilde said.

"Oh yes I do. Athena was to try to make Hades sleep with her to conceive a baby. And then claim that he raped her. Then Hades would be disgraced, and Zeus would have an excuse to anull his marriage to Persephone."

"And she agreed?" Trowa asked.

"Without hesitating." I answered.

"Wait a minute." Relena spoke up. "If Athena truly was the daughter of Zeus, then that would mean Hades was her uncle. Wasn't there a moral, not to mention a genetic problem here?"

"Not really." I replied. "The Gods don't hold themselves to the same moral and physical laws that humanity does. After all, look at Fei-koi and I. Genealogically speaking, we're both cousins. Anyways, Athena decided to try and get Hades drunk and remove his inhibitions."

"Did it work?" Kheela asked.

I smirked at the memory. "Well, yes and no. She did manage to get him drunk. But he wouldn't lay a finger on her. Instead he passed out asleep. So she decided to take matters into her own hands, so to speak."

"AACK!" she gagged. "Double EEWW!"

I shrugged. "That's how determined Athena was to get what she wanted. And as you can see," I said gesturing to Wufei with a Vanna-esque pose, "the gambit worked."

"Did the plan?" Iria asked.

I frowned. "It almost did. Hades couldn't recall what had happened because he had been drunk. Yet here was Athena with a son, undoubtedly his. The Gods began to shun him, and looked at his son as a 'rape baby'." My frown was turning into a dark scowl. "Athena played her part to the hilt. Sobbing through crocodile tears about how she 'couldn't bear to look at the devil-child.' and Zeus declaring him to be the avatar of Chaos.

"I think I remember now." Wufei whispered. "She said I was a meaningless aberration, which should not exist." I looked at him with a pain-filled expression. "She would have killed me if Father hadn't stepped in. His sense of honor could not allow him to let his son be detroyed. Not even one born under less than honorable circumstances."

"Unfortunately," I continued. "That just made him look more guilty in the eyes of the others. Even Mother and Persephone were having their doubts. Zeus' plan was going just as he had hoped."

"So he got Persephone like he wanted?" Quatre asked.

I smiled grimly "No he did not. Hera was still a little suspicious of Athena's story. As powerful as Hades was, he couldn't have forced himself onto Athena the way she described. Not in his inebriated state. So she found Athena and dragged her to where she knew Zeus was planning to 'comfort' Persephone."

Duo laughed. "Busted! Boy would I have loved to see that."

"Persephone of course forgave Hades." I said. "And they celebrated their reunion by conceiving a child."

Duo laughed again. "Whoa, Hades had another kid-OWW!" he yelled, rubbing his head where Hilde had just smacked him.

"She's talking about you, dummy." she said glaring at him.

Wufei snorted. "The braided-baka takes after his mother. Persephone always was a little flighty."

I frowned at him. "That's not a nice thing to say." I admonished. "Persephone treated you quite well as I recall."

He scowled darkly. "Not out of any real affection." he said. "She just felt foolish about believing Zeus and Mother's lies. All the Gods did. Except most were too proud to admit it."

I gave Fei-koi a pained expression. These resurfaced memories were also resurfacing some deep-seeded resentments and bitternes in him. The Gods of Olympus treated him like dirt. Even Mother, while not openly hostile, took steps to avoid contact with him.

"Oh wow," Kheela breathed. "If Athena was Zeus' daughter, and had a baby with Hades, Zeus' brother, who was her uncle, then her son, was also her cousin, because it was her uncle's son,

while you," she wheeled around towards me."Were both his cousin and his aunt since you were Zeus' daughter, and Hades' niece." She held her head, shaking it slightly. "I'm getting a headache."

I smirked at that. "Now you know why he was called the God of Chaos. With that sort of family background, how could he be anything else?"

"Okay," she sighed. "But you still haven't told us how you two got together."

"Well, after Shinigami was born, Mother decided to hold a celebratory banquet for Persephone and Hades. She was reluctant at first as to whether or not to invite Wufei, but Persephone insisted upon it. " I smiled at the memory. "It was the first time I had ever laid eyes on him. He was so dark and mysterious. Like his father. Zeus was furious that he was there. Bad enough that he was forced to attend the celebration of the birth of Hades' and Persephone's child. But here was Hades' other son. The proof of his failed plot right before him. The other Gods were also giving Wufei the cold-shoulder. Even Mother, though trying to be diplomatic, showed her displeasure at his presence. Which of course meant I wanted to meet him."

Wufei cocked an eyebrow at me. "So that's the reason you were so friendly at the party." he said in a teasing voice. "You were trying to aggravate your father."

I giggled and hugged him tightly. "Well, maybe at first," I confessed. "Any chance I could to be seen in Wufei's company by Zeus, I took it."

He smiled at me for a second. But then frowned. "That turned out to be a risky gambit though Usa." he said. "Your mother was willing to go along with us seeing each other to bother Zeus. But she also had a problem with her daughter being seen in the presence of Chaos."

I bit my lip at the memory. "She once told me my little charade had gone on long enough. Little did she know the 'charade' had actually become real. Fei-koi and I were deeply in love. Where once we carried on in public in jest, we now did secret for real. Until our true love affair was discovered."

"They caught you two together." Iria said.

I nodded wryly. "In bed, both of us naked, and locked in a deep embrace. And I do mean 'locked deep'."

"Uh-oh." Duo said. "Caught in the act."

"Exactly. Zeus of course was furious. Even Mother was angry. She yelled about how I could do such a thing. Not worrying about the consequences. I replied I didn't care about the consequences. And that it was too late to think about that now."

"Meaning you were pregnant." Iria deduced. "With Heero and Hotaru."

"Yes." I answered "Zeus of course wanted to destroy Wufei and the babies outright. But he was stopped by a certain handmaiden in my mother's palace named Trista."

"Trista?" Relena said in surprise. "You mean the same Trista you told us is SailorPluto?"

I nodded, giving her a smile of approval. "Exactly. Trista was already a gifted mystic, and warned of great disaster if harm would befall Wufei or our children. So they instead decided to give Hotaru to Hades and Persephone to raise. While Wufei and Heero were sent into the TimeStream. Trista was now granted powers over the TimeGates in order to guard it. And prevent them from escaping."

"And the rest of the Senshi?" She asked.

"Also handmaidens at the palace." I answered. "They were each chosen for their excellence in certain areas. Mars for second-sight and spiritualism, Mercury for intellect and healing arts, Jupiter for strength and domestic culture, Venus for leadership and diplomacy, Uranus for courage and fighting skills, and Neptune for grace and culture. They were given powers of the Gods to be my personal bodyguards. Although personally," I added with a grimace, "I think Mother meant for them to be my personal 'babysitters'."

"Of course." Duo said cheekily. "Can't get busy with a bunch of girls hanging nearby."

I closed my eyes, slowly counting to ten. Don't kill braided-baka. Don't kill braided-baka. "I had no desire to get 'busy' with anyone." I finally answered. "My only love was gone and my children were taken away from me. Still Mother insisted on it. But that wasn't enough for Zeus though. He said my reputation was sullied. And the only way to regain any respectability was to marry me off."

"Endymion." Noin said. "But why marry you to a mortal?"

"As punishment. Zeus was going to cast me out of Olympus. And he wasn't going to let anybody have the chance to help me. So he decreed that I was to marry the Prince of the Earth." I glanced around at the others. "The rest I've already told you about."

Kheela shook her head. "That's so incredible. What a story. I'll never be able to enjoy another soap-opera. After hearing this, how can they compete?"

I laughed. "Oh I'm sure you'll manage." Then I noticed Relena looking at me with a troubled look on her face. "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked gently.

"N-nothing. Nothing really." She said nervously looking like a deer caught in the headlights of a Gundam. She quickly leapt to her feet. "Um, it's pretty late. I'd better get to bed. Please excuse me." And she quickly exited before I could reply.

Iria rose to her feet. "Maybe Relena is right. We could all use some sleep just about now. Especially you young lady." she said, giving me her patented doctor's glare.

"Alright, alright." I said. "Just give me a minute with Fei-koi." She gave me a skeptical look. But finally shrugged and walked out the door. Wufei and I watched the others slowly file out the door. Heero paused for a moment and gave us both an indiscernable look. Oh Heero, I'm so sorry. Please understand I never wanted to send you away. I would have followed you and Fei-koi if I could. I tried to send this message to him through my eyes. If he felt it, he gave no indication. Instead, he merely turned away and left silently. I turned to Wufei to see the same expression of his face. Kami help me, did I make a mistake telling them the truth? "Fei-koi? Fei-koi please don't be angry." I pleaded. "I didn't try to hide anything from you, I swear. I just remembered what happened myself."

He shook his head. "I don't hate you Usa. I could never hate you." His expression darkened. "I hate them. What right did they have to make me their scapegoat? To blame their failures on me? If anything, I should be blaming all the terrible things in my life on them. Them and their greed and selfishness. They are the ones who tried to spoil something right and decent, and when they failed, they had the nerve to say it was my fault? That I was a purveyor of Chaos?"

I touched his arm gently. "They are long gone. They can't hurt us anymore." I said.

He looked at me. "What about Endymion?" he asked.

"Endymion doesn't matter anymore." I answered, circling my arms around him in a tight embrace. "Now that I've found you again, I'm not letting anything pull us apart. Especially him."

He pulled me closer, and I laid my head on his chest. His strong heartbeat vibrated through me. It was true. No matter what else happened, nothing but nothing was going to take him away from me this time.

(ELSEWHERE)

Two figures stood silently watching the young lovers embracing. Their expressions filled with mixtures of happiness and apprehension.

[Are you sure they are happy Trista?]

{Are you not, my Queen?}

[I never meant to hurt her. But I knew if she became involved with Chaos her life wouldn't be normal. I really was trying to protect her. Why did she choose him anyways? They come from two totally different worlds.]

{They may have been from different worlds. But they both shared the same pain of loneliness}
[That's ridiculous. My daughter was afforded every possible luxury. Nothing she desired was denied to her.]

{And yet she was lonely. You were right about Serenity and Chaos being from different worlds. But it was not by their choice. Chaos was locked out. While Serenity was locked in.}

[I really was trying to protect her.]

{I understand. Maybe you were just trying a little too hard. And besides, it wasn't really Chaos that you were protecting her from.}

[No it was not. He did not think I noticed the way he looked at her. Especially when she bathed. I was never going to give him a reason to be alone with her.]

{Until The Princess unwittingly gave him a reason. I still find it hard to understand how he could betroth her to Endymion out of petty jealousy and spite.}

[It wasn't just that. He wanted Endymion to break her spirit and make her more accomodating to his 'desires'.]

{By all that is holy! How did you allow yourself to be decieved by him?}

[It wasn't my choice. You have heard the legend of the Moon Queen falling in love with a shepherd boy?]

{That was Zeus?}

[Yes. His disguise was perfect. He had 'borrowed' one of Apollo's enchanted lyres and was playing a light tune under a full moon knowing that I would hear it. Of course the sounds intrigued me and I descended for a closer listen. Once he knew he had my attention, his tune changed. The notes that had once called and invited me, now held and seduced me. The next thing I knew, my dress was tossed on the ground and my ankles were locked behind his back.]

{Uh, that's a little more than I needed to know. When did you find out the truth?}

[In the midst of our coupling. He always loved dropping his guises during the moment of climax. Just so his victims would know it was him they were with.]

{He always did love the feeling of control over others.}

[That's why he gave King Stefan theRoseMark.]
{He gave?! But why?}

[Because Queen Tellu's beauty caught his eye. And somehow Stefan's oracle discovered Zeus' lust. So King Stefan traveled to the Temple of Zeus to 'plead his case.']
{He dared to ask Zeus not to seduce his wife?}

[Hardly. He had no problem with Zeus doing whatever he wanted to the Queen. But he claimed she would become disrespectful and uncontrollable. It was a lie of course. But Zeus seriously considered the thought. So he bestowed on King Stefan the power of the RoseMark, giving him the power to make anyone he put the mark on feel whatever he wished. And to insure that no one tried to stop him, Zeus bestowed it on Stefan's children as well.]

{And that little loophole is the only hope we have of breaking the curse.}

[Yes. Her memories of the past are faint at this time. Confined to bad feelings and nightmares. We must make sure that she will be ready for the upcoming conflict. For both our sake and hers. Go Pluto. The players in this game will soon be in position. You know what to do.]

{As you wish my Queen.}
