Pairing: Trevor/Zane
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Once you realise your dreaming it tends to become less interesting.
Trevor was dreaming, drowning in a flood on the street. The water was up to his neck but he was standing perfectly still as it rose higher. When it covered his head he could look up at the underbelly of the surface. He was holding his breath and was vaguely aware he'd need to breath soon. He couldn't breath. The water was so shiny. He needed to breath. Seaweed was swaying on the pavement. He must breath!
Trevor reached consiouness with a big breath. Then he breathed some more, because it felt good. Hm. Somewhere in the distance a dopey rock ballad was being mangled. A gecko was floating around his light fixture in a brisk lifeless way, as if doing a job it didn't really enjoy. Trevor then relised he hadn't woken up yet.
Once you realise your dreaming it tends to become less interesting. So he ignored that he knew this wasn't reality and pushed deeper, he didn't want to wake up yet. Some little kids where drawing and he had to join them. Trevor sat down and the kids immediately began to draw on him. With thick brown markers they squiggled little kid style drawings all over his body. One drew spots all along his arm then pointed at him and told him he had chicken pox. All the little kids where laughing at him and it was very important they know he didn't have chicken pox. He tried to rub off the marker dots but they wouldn't smear.
He turned and ran away from the mean kids. He felt so dirty, covered in dirty brown spots like he was diseased. He was almost crying when he saw Zane and ran up to him. Zane gave him a big hug and Trevor felt like he'd crossed the finish line. He'd escaped the bad guys and had made it back to home ground. They pulled apart and Zane's hand reached out to pat Trevor's hair. He smiled at Trevor the same way a pillow smiles at an insomniac. They hugged some more and it felt so nice that they kissed, because it seemed like the next logical step.
Trevor then ran of after a daisy, leaving Zane behind him.
Then Trevor really did wake up.
The next day Trevor sat down next to Zane.
Zane smiled at Trevor the same way an ashtray smiles at a cigarette.
He leaned in and said to Trevor.
"I had a dream about you last night."
