A/N: This is perhaps the most depressing poem I will ever write. Its Legolas pretty much talking to the Valar. Asking why they did this in a way. I don't know. I wrote it in 5th period social studies when I was supposed to be reading. Oh, it's after Aragorn falls of the cliff.

Explain to Me

Explain to me, this world of death, for I do not understand,

why does it do what it does?

Explain to me this feeling of pain, for I do not comprehend,

why do I feel this way?

Explain to me this thought of death for myself,

why do I want to die?

I cannot understand why you are gone, why you left

I do not know why I cry for those who's time has come

I can never know why I stand here, knife in hand, ready to die

Save me my brother, save me my soul

don't let me do this, for I do not want to

Drop this blade from my hands, for they shake from its weight

Come through the door, save me

Now, as if on command, you come through the door,

your eyes wide with horror as you call my name

and it falls from my hands, this blade of death,

Thank you my brother, for hearing my plea
