disclaimer: naruto (c) masashi kishimoto (really can't think of anything witty to say this time) beware of OOCness and the shit I spew when I do. Sorry for the laziness on The Wind and the Night, but I really am not compulsed to write that.

ps. REVIEW.
bloody rain
He turned the blade in his hand. It felt cool and metallic, almost like glass, but not as smooth. Running a tanned finger down the edge, he felt his blood pulse softly, as if it were calling the blade to it. The tip bit into his finger, drawing a pearl of crimson liquid. He breathed, gasping, he had forgotten he had been holding his breath. It felt good, the rush of air, unfurling soundlessly into his brain. He picked up the kunai again, it felt surprisingly light, and pressed the tip of it to his palm.
With his eyes closed he could feel the blade break the first, second, third layer of skin until it reached a vein. The pain was constant, dulling, soothing. He drew it across his hand, when it was over, he let the blade drop to the pristine floor, in a deafening clang. The long bubble of blood overflowed and burst, dripping. The first perfect red sphere graced the white tile. One problem gone. It was followed by a second, then a third, then a fourth. Splat, splat, splat. Bloody rain, liquid pain. He opened his eyes and smiled evenly.
Next, he crouched down and sat. He picked up the kunai, and wiped his palm on his shirt. It was already healing. Quivering a little, he brought the weapon to his wrist and allowed it to sink into the cellophane like layer of skin. Almost immediantly, the pain squeezed him for a brief second and then quickly receded. He smiled, carving deeper until-
"Oi, dobe. Kaka-..."
Damn. The kunai dropped, dipped in blood, splintering fluid and sound everywhere. Naruto looked up at Sasuke surprised, scared. The raven haired child stood frozen, disbelieving. No one spoke. An awkward silence settled between the two like a fog.
"Ano...I was..."
Sasuke stood there, towering over Naruto, who still crouched pitifully. Finally he sank to his knees.
"God...you are so fucking stupid..." Something wet glazed his dark eyes.
Naruto winced inwardly, but stared blankly ahead. It wasn't like he was doing anything wrong. It was his body, and even more, it's not like he ever cut to kill. He wasn't suicidal, he was just...confused.
"Why?"
The golden haired shinobi shrugged.
"Tell me dammit!" Sasuke yelled angrily, grabbing his friend's shoulders and shaking him. "Look at me!"
Their eyes met. Cerulean blue, pain laced eyes. Sky colored eyes meeting with night colored eyes. Dark and deep and charcoal black. Eyes shadowed by hate and regret.
So he hugged him. Because he didn't know what else to do, Sasuke hugged Naruto hard, buring his face into Naruto's sun kissed hair.
"...don't..."
"Usurankachi(1)... shut up."
And they held each other for a while. Letting the moon glimpse behind glass wrapped windows, coppery and full. So the dark one kissed his almost friend's palm, and the feeling entwined with Naruto's being, crawling up to his mind, and it felt a thousand times better than a kunai ever could. And they wrapped each other in their scents and they pressed their foreheads together, then lips, softly, quenching some immortal lust or love or whatever they had together, blossoming emotion, something real, passionate, shy.
Naruto rested his head on Sasuke's chest. They laid sprawled out, still on the floor, breathing softly, their rhythm never quite in tune, never quite perfect together, but it felt right. And so when the kunai shone dimly, moon bathed from a wayward window, Naruto chose to ignore it.
And today he could, but he knew sometime he couldn't, but... as long as Sasuke was there, he knew he would be okay.
