She sat motionless listening to her mother's words not fully comprehending, shock shrouding her features. She felt weak, dizzy, sick, he was gone her Daddy was gone. She wanted to cry but couldn't the tears just wouldn't come.

Her Mom was crying enough for both of them. She sat on her favorite couch tucked her legs up under her and buried her head in her hands. Still the tears she so desperately wanted to shed refused to come. Eight years old, all the other kids had two parents, at least all her friends did and now all she had was her Mummy.

Laura's Mom didn't comfort her no one did and she never cried, not once. She watched as her father was interred in his final resting place. She hadn't eaten in two days and no one had noticed.

Her Mom's depression worsened over the following weeks, Laura did what she could to comfort her. She would come home from school every day clean around the house as best an eight year old could. She would
gather up the laundry put it in the washer and prey it didn't run. Dinner wasn't something she worried about, she hardly ever ate anything and had lost a frightening amount of weight.

Exactly two months after the funeral Laura had just finished having a bath, when her Mom walked in she took one look at Laura's boney body and realized in that moment the enormity of what she had done. She
had forgotten about her child, in her grief she had forgotten about little Laura. Laura looked up at her mom with tear laden lashes her little green eyes had lost their sparkle she saw a loss of innocence in her
child that tore at her soul...

Laura held her Mom's hand in hers "I love you Mom", again the tears didn't come. As her Mother's eyes closed, tears spilled down Laura's cheeks as the realization that they would never again open dawned on her………………………………………………………………

"Mom...Mom...Don't go...Mom...",
Roslin clawed at the air as if fighting off some unknown foe.

"Laura...Laura wake up...",

Laura felt arms shake her gently, her eyes snapped open she looked despairingly into William Adama's eyes tears forming in both eyes and falling unbidden down her cheeks. He reached for her taking her into
his arms and cradling her as he had his boys when they were babies. "I'm here Laura".

Sobs racked her body, yet he held her until she fell back asleep. He never asked her about the dream he assumed she would tell him when she was ready... Until then he would be there to comfort her, he would
be her rock...
