Hoss grumbled as he began to clean up the kitchen, again. How was it that he always lost? Even when he chose the longest match.
Hoss looked at the matches thoughtfully. First, the match his Pa used to light the other three. It was the longest, burnt the least. Next, the tiny nub of his own match. The next two, Adam and Joe's, he rolled thoughtfully in his hand. They were the same length, with about the same amount burnt, so what was different about them?
He realized that these two matches felt damp. Why those dadburned brothers of his!
