A/N: This is a short story which wouldn't stop bugging me until I wrote it. It will actually have three parts and I really, really hope that it has the effect I intended it to have. So please tell me what you think of it.

Three Small Talk(s)

Talk One: Letter

"You are supposed to open an envelope to find out what's in it."

Anzu Mazaki looked up; for a moment forgetting about the thick letter in her hand which was sent by The Juilliard School in New York.

"And you're telling me this because…

"I'm just stating facts."

"Nice." She put the letter beside her. "Well, maybe I'm not interested in what it has to say."

He raised an eyebrow. "They could have accepted you."

"They could have refused me." How did Seto Kaiba know who the letter was from, anyway?

He stepped up to the park bench she was sitting on. "You're sure you don't want it?"

"Yes." To make her point clear, she pushed the brown, big envelope away from her.

He picked it up, gazed at it and then…

RIP!

"W-What are you doing?"

Kaiba shrugged. "Opening it, I guess."

"But it's my letter!"

"No," he replied calmly, "you didn't want it, remember?"

"But…but…"

Reaching inside he pulled out the cover letter and skimmed it over with his eyes.

"What…what does it say?" Her voice sounded nervous.

"Letters don't talk."

She rolled her eyes. "What is written on it?"

"Words."

"Words?"

"Yes. You know: words, letters, sentences, punctuation marks."

"Kaiba!" She shot up from her place. "I'm serious!"

"Me too, Mazaki." He put the piece of paper back into the envelope. "If you want to know, you have to read it yourself."

"Fine. Give it back to me." She held out her hand.

Ignoring it, he shook his head. "No."

"What?"

"You've heard me."

"You can't do that!" She glared at him. "You just can't not give me back my letter!"

Ice blue met fiery blue. "Let's make a deal. I'll give you your letter if you're going out with me."

Anzu needed definitely a synonym for the word 'what'. So, "Huh?"

"I have a business dinner with a few managers of other corporations and need a female escort."

"You're kidding me, right?" No way in hell would she go out with him.

"No." He turned around and started to move away. "The day after tomorrow at 7 at 'The Crystal Bell'."

She wasn't that desperate to know what the letter said. "I'm not coming, Kaiba. You won't find me sitting there."

Two nights later she sat with him in said restaurant and waited for their drinks to arrive.
