Love, The Tamer
A/N: Just a prologue... that's my excuse for it being short. Review, tell me what you think. Of course, I'll continue it whether you like it or not.
Disclaimer: I don't even need one of these things anymore. I own nobody, nothing, I am not worthy, I am a mere speck on the face of this planet... etc.
Prologue -
Broken Sword didn't have any friends. Acquaintances he had many, but he wasn't so pretentious as to assume they were his friends. He found it easy enough to strike up conversation, exchange trivial details, and he personally found his people skills quite passable. It wasn't making friends that was the problem – it was keeping them. Broken Sword had drifted aimlessly from place to place since childhood, and old habits die hard. No matter how happy he was in a village, he would invariably get bored and leave almost without warning. He was now seventeen, and more capricious than ever. In some places he would stay for weeks, and in others only a few days.
Born into a crowded family in which he was seen as unnecessary and unwelcome trouble, Broken Sword had accepted the fact that he had no place in this world, or any other. As soon as he judged himself ready, for he was not overly impulsive by nature, he took his leave to become a wanderer, and eventually changed his name to Broken Sword. He liked it. It was simple and honest, just like his life. It was both exciting and perfectly natural to him to change direction with the wind, and there was always work that people were willing to pay a strong youth to do, so he rarely went too hungry. He took lovers whenever the fancy nudged him.
So when he began wandering through Zhao, he naturally didn't suspect that it would prove the end of his wandering days. He didn't dream that this would be where he settled at last.
And with a woman!
