One Day More Les Shaman Miserables

"One day more," Paijean murmured. "Another day, another destiny… this never ending road to Calvary; these men who seem to know my crime will surely come a second time! One day more!"

"I did not live until today," Marioh sighed from the bridge over the slums of Saint Michele, looking at the accumulation of impoverished people below. "How can I live when we are parted…?"

"One day more…" Paijean murmured again as Annette put her things into a large case. She hid her tears.

"Tomorrow you'll be worlds away," Annette and Marioh sniffled at the same time, even though they were very far away. "And yet with you my world has started!"

Tamanine stood behind the bridge at Saint Michele, looking up at the very lovelorn, very depressed Marioh. She stared blankly up towards him. "One more day all on my own…"

"Will we ever meet again?" Marioh and Annette asked themselves, Annette still packing and Marioh staring out into the stars.

"One more day with him not caring," Tamanine said flatly, so blunt with herself that she almost began to shake in sadness.

"I was born to be with you," Marioh and Annette confessed. Tamanine felt her heart break.

"What a life I might have known," Tamanine whispered, her voice trembling.

"And I swear I will be true!" Annette cried, snapping the lock on her case shut.

"But he never saw me there!" Tamanine realized with a jolt, and leaned down in the street when Enjolren marched a large group of students, disgruntled Parisians, and housewives into the square. They were ready to build the barricade.

"One more day before the storm," Enjolren told Marioh.

Marioh seemed to ignore him. "Do I follow where she goes?"

Enjolren frowned. "At the barricades of freedom," Enjolren offered.

"Shall I join my brothers there?" Marioh asked himself. He seemed to be half-listening. Enjolren still scowled.

"When our ranks begin to form…" Enjolren started to ask Marioh.

"Do I stay, and do I dare?" Marioh breathed.

"…Will you take your place with me?" Enjolren inquired. For the first time, Marioh looked directly at Enjolren, his yellow eyes glittering with determination that had for so long been forced back.

"The time is now!" the crowd cried. "The day is here!"

"One day more," Paijean repeated in the safety of Rue Plumet as Annette continued to pack.

"One more day to revolution," Lyvert sneered as he watched Enjolren rally the 'troops', his green plaid cape billowing in the soft wind. "We will nip it in the bud. I will join these little schoolboys… they will wet themselves with blood!"

"One day more!" Paijean whispered triumphantly to Annette as his daughter's heart shattered.

"Watch 'em run amuck," Horodier and Eliza smirked. "Catch em as they fall! Never know your luck when there's a free-for-all! Here a little dip – there a little touch – most of them are goners, so they won't miss much!"

"One day to a new beginning!" Enjolren yelled, raising his fist in the air.

"Raise the flag of freedom high!" the troops requested with gusto.

"Every man will be a king!" Enjolren promised.

"Every man will be a king!" the crowd repeated as Enjolren raised the flag.

"There's a new world for the winning!" Enjolren grunted, as waving the flag took most of his strength.

"There's a new world to be won!" Enjolren's followers cried as Marioh ran to Enjolren's side and helped to wave the flag.

As Enjolren looked at Marioh incredulously, Marioh explained, "My place is here – I fight with you!"

Enjolren grinned and screamed, "One day more!"

"I will join these people's heroes," Lyvert planned, a malevolent smirk on his face.

"I did not live until today," Marioh and Annette murmured to themselves, both on opposite ends of the town.

"I will follow where they go," Lyvert continued.

"One more day all on my own," Tamanine mused as she saw Marioh with Enjolren, and eventually Maroche joined them.

"I will learn their little secrets," Lyvert said as he walked out of the shadows of Rue Plumet, where no one saw him at all, for the revelry had become contagious.

"How can I live when we are parted?" Marioh and Annette mumbled in their respective corners of Paris.

"I will know the things they know," Lyvert assured himself, his face curled into a smirk.

"One day more!" Paijean smiled as he looked out the window.

"Watch em run amuck," Eliza grinned slightly.

"Tomorrow you'll be worlds away!" Marioh and Annette cried.

"One more day to revolution," Lyvert snickered malevolently.

"Catch em as they fall!" Horodier screeched.

"What a life I might have known," Tamanine whimpered silently as Enjolren and Marioh rallied the troops.

"We will nip it in the bud…" Lyvert stated, clenching his pale fist.

"Never know your luck…"

"And yet with you my world has started!"

"We'll be ready for these schoolboys!"

"…When there's a free-for-all!"

Paijean looked out his window. "Tomorrow we'll be far away; tomorrow is the judgment day!"

"Tomorrow we'll discover," everyone, from heartbroken Tamanine to determined Enjolren to smarmy Horodier to uneasy Marioh to unbelieving Annette to vindictive Lyvert, cried. "What our God in heaven has in store… one more dawn! One more day! One day more!"
