Perfect Weather

He thought there was a reason for them to kiss in the hard pouring rain; no one was standing around to watch, and even if anyone was, the view would be so much more obscured.
The drops were painful, but they numbed him well, keeping his adrenalin in check; and their temperature balanced the heat rushing under his skin.
Also, the water washed away their sweat -- not that he minded it, but perhaps Hiiragi would; not that he usually cared about such things either, but Sumire had once or twice commented about his body smell, though he wasn't sure why he would recall it now of all times.
He thought he probably shouldn't be thinking of all these random stuff, out of respect for this intimate moment; but Hiiragi tasted simple and chaste, like he could savour that presence just by standing on the same court with him, like he could drown in that sensation just by watching his every move, every stillness, which was what he'd been doing all these times anyway.
He wondered if Hiiragi's mind was occupied likewise -- his lips weren't responding all that actively to suggest that he was focusing only on Akane, either; but what little response there was Akane took as a sign that he liked it enough; it was certainly not in that guy's character to silently go with the flow of events.
He thought there was a reason for him to kiss Hiiragi in the rain -- the lithe form had shone through the misty screen around him, the same aura he'd seen whenever that guy put his all into a game; the elegance of his moves had been accentuated by sprinkles of water dancing along with him -- and all of a sudden it didn't feel enough to just stand and watch.
He knew the vision was all in his mind; he knew the feeling was the same lust he occasionally experienced when looking at those girls in the magazines; but he also knew the moment would probably come only once, and he just had to take the opportunity while the weather was perfect, while Hiiragi too was standing there staring at him, distracted by the rain, by thoughts perhaps similar to those that had assaulted him.
He thought there was a reason for them to kiss at all, a reason grown in sun as well as in rain, a reason of the kind Sumire talked about when she chastised him for being so very dense that she had to spell out everything to him.
He thought there was a reason for them to kiss at all -- he certainly wasn't going to blame it on something as unreliable as the level of water concentration in the clouds; besides, at the rate this was going, he wouldn't want to depend on the sky to be able to do it again.
