Hurts, doesn't it?
This is set after Aeris'/ Aerith's death. Cloud is sad. Now he understands a bit more about Vincent.
I think I am beginning to understand how you feel, Cloud thought, looking at Vincent who was staring blankly at the floor, I always pitied you, but I had no idea… it hurts so badly, I would never have imagined, I could never have imagined. But now I know what it feels like, I understand why you are always so sad. I had used to think that you were just being dramatic, gloomy… but now I begin to see your pain, your agony. She is gone. She will never come back. Ever. No matter how much you wish, no matter how much you love her, she will never be there, to speak to you, to love you back. And as time goes on, her smile, her face, everything begins to fade, till all your left with is bitter sadness… and anger .Raw emotion fills your every thought and action, takes over your very being. Anger drives you, and sadness is your fuel, and you know that they will always be there with you, even though she's not.
You long for her by your side, to have one last chance to tell her: you do care.
To hear her soft voice, to remember her love that once filled your now hollow heart. It can never be replaced, but can never be forgotten, leaving you hanging in mid air, frozen in the cold emptiness that has become your life.
You are forever reliving the worst moment of your lift: seeing, watching, knowing what is going to happen but not being able to do a thing about it. It makes you feel small, powerless, weak. But instead of showing all that you cover it up, hide it, shrouding yourself in mystery that no one can fathom, knowing that when the time comes you will fight for her memory, so she can live on a little longer inside you. Live on until you can finally join her, never to be separated again. You long for that day, but, until it comes, you'll have to live on without her, and that is worse than pain itself…
Vincent looked up from the floor and turned to face Cloud. He gave him one of his rare, if weak, smiles before saying "Hurts, doesn't it, Cloud?"
A/N: Depressing, huh? Wrote it whilst in one of my "feeling sorry for Vincent, Cloud, Yuna and all the other poor sods from Final Fantasy that have their lovers die" mood. Anyway, please review! For The Poor Sod's sake!
