Someone Just For Me

Note: Extreme sibling fluff, one-shot, OOCness, and non-canoness

Missheru: Much request for forgiveness, as this little one-shot novella was playing in my head over and over again and bothering me to no end, so I had to let it out on paper and I decided to make it available to the public as well. I know, it's a total con on Chobits, but I thought it would be cute and I'm a huge fan of CLAMP and their amazing art. Plus, I like sibling-to-sibling fluff… if only I could share moments like these with my own little sister. (Without the incest, of course… TT)

Anyway, here I go, and I hope to God that I didn't totally screw up.

"Otouto… I made an oath to you. It was a promise of staying by your side for all time. But, at this point-"

Once upon a time, an extraordinary inventor dwelled wealthily with his younger brother in a faraway quaint town, their days in one another's company being like an enchanted faerietale everyday. The eldest was very brilliant and prospered for the child, vowing to protect the youngest and shelter him from any harm, for he had made a promise long ago for the little one of never parting with the young child's side. For this, the youngest was very grateful. Each felt very happy to have the other.

"-I can't be true to my word."

But as the years passed, the smaller brother began to fall deeply ill and was bedridden, and this greatly saddened the older brother.

"Nii-sama, don't say that. It isn't your fault this happened. Besides, everything's going to turn out all right in the end-just like it always does, right?"

The adolescent merely grimaced. "Of course, Mokuba." A manifest trace of lost heart was spoken through his tone while addressing the puerile elementary-schooler. He pined for that credulous, naïve form of mind once more. He always wished he could have faith in a toddler's happy-ever-after too, though realized reason would forever vanquish flight-of-fancy within his mind's eye.

The young child could regrettably fathom the waver to his brother's twang, and set forth a soothing palm to his sibling's ashen cheek. "Don't sound so sad, nii-sama… you're with me here now, and that's what matters most. It's still keeping your promise… when you really think about it."

Seto lifted his own left hand and pityingly seized the trembling feelers that lingered upon the feathery curvature of his visage under slight duress. Once his russet head tilted back from the leveled greeting of Mokuba's bedside to his fortified gaze, beautiful broken blue countered the boy's hoary, susceptible, falteringly terrified stare. Satiny lips strived the barest smile while he clasped the cherubim hand and they simply reiterated the prayer, "Of course." and the teen's browbeaten features slowly brightened. "We can't be separated."

The tiny seraph understood his brother was shedding brackish, smoldering tears on the inside-tears of which would never be unbound. But to ever have that porcelain little rag doll's celestial face be strewn with those tears… how gorgeous the likeness of such a picture would be to behold… "Yep. You even said so yourself. There's no way we'll ever leave each other, nii-sama. We're family together, forever; until the end of time." troubled by wont of response, Mokuba resumed his words. "…Yep?"

"Do not worry, brother. I will find a cure for you, and we will be truly happy again." the older of the two said, his hand atop the little one's hand as the younger brother laid wearily in bed one night.

"We will be truly happy again?" he asked weakly.

"Of course, brother. I promise nothing less…"

Michiro-Chan: I finish the one-shot to the toll that I am promised many reviews. 'Nobody likes it, then I won't bother continuing it.
