Darkness… Silence… Wait no, not silence, but a high-pitched whine only his ears could hear and not darkness, but a white stab of light just behind his eyes.

Daelius realized that he was lying down. 'Funny,' he thought 'I don't remember going to sleep.' He tried to open his eyes but the quickly gave up the moment that act caused his head to spin and nearly blacked him out again.

'I wonder how long I've been out?' he mused trying to push himself up. But a knife of pure agony, both white hot and freezing cold at the same time jolted through his system causing him to cry out in pain, well not really cry out, the exclamation sounding more hoarse moan than anything.

"Sister! The sleeper stirs!" Though Daelius could not open his eyes, his keen hearing pinpointed the voice about two meters to his left; it was a man's voice though he did not recognize his accent. He heard the foot falls of another approach his to his right, his hearing creating a mental imagine for him as accurately as if he were using his eyes. The footfalls approached him and the figure knelt down in front of him

"Astates? Can you hear me?" He heard a second voice; this one belonged to a woman.

Daelius didn't reply but tried once again to sit up, the pain once again driving the breath from his lungs and causing his features to twist in agony. He felt a palm press gently on his breastplate and the woman's voice again, "Lie still, we have you now." She soothed.

'We have you?' He thought, 'They have me? Who are they? Where am I?'

And then memory for the recent months floods back to him.
