TITLE: Modern Love

Van stood on the castle balcony looking at the scenery that lay in front of him. The pink and purple clouds clashed with the sunlight as the sun began to set. It had been a year after the great battle and King Van was already starting to miss Hitomi. Hitomi was the mysterious girl that came from the Mystic Moon. Also known as earth and the moon. Being not normal in Gaea already, she was also gifted with a pendant, which helped her to see the future. She was also known as the girl from the Mystic Moon.
Just thinking about her made an empty feeling nestle in the pit of his stomach. He decided not to think about her so he walked inside only to face the obnoxious Merle.
"LORD VAN!" She exclaimed tackling him down. Well, actually it was more or a tackle-hug.
"Oh hey Merle…" He answered without much enthusiasm. His face was neutral, but since he knew that his neutral face would bring Merle to ask him what was wrong, he decided to smile a bit. Unfortunately, that didn't work. Merle spotting his sad face she asked, " What's wrong Lord Van? You don't seem happy."
Damn. How am I supposed to answer now? Thinking about how to answer her, but before he could come up with a resolution, Merle said, " You only have that look when you've been thinking about Hitomi! You were thinking about her weren't you!" A sad look washed over her enthusiastic face. Merle had always thought of Van as more of a friend, more of someone to play with, but she knew that Van never felt that way about her. And then Hitomi came budging into their friendship. Anger rushed inside of her flooding her thoughts. She wasn't thinking properly, and she knew it. It couldn't be! It's already been one whole year! Why is he STILL thinking about her! Outraged, she got up from the tackled Van. Putting her hands on her hips, she lectured, " YOU KNOW IT'S ALREADY BEEN ONE YEAR! SHE PROBABLY ALREADY FORGOT ABOUT YOU!" Her voice echoed around the room and out of the open balcony door.
Although Van's face was already sad, it seemed to have deepened with more sadness. Merle, seeing what she did felt bad.
"I know it's already been one year… maybe your right. Maybe she did forget about me."
"Oh Lord Van, I'm sorry for saying that. I'm sure she didn't." Apologizing to Van, a worried look crossed over her face. Oh what did I do? I got Lord Van upset. Even though Merle didn't like that Van love Hitomi, she still didn't want to hurt his feelings. And anyway, Hitomi was still her friend.
"It's okay Merle." It was usual for Merle to apologize so quickly. Quickly getting up, he walked back out on the Balcony and climbed up onto the roof. Merle followed him.
"You really liked her didn't you?" Merle questioned with a sad face.
He glared at her. "Merle why do you always ask that?" He asked trying not to sound to mad or else Merle would notice. Unfortunatly, she did, "I'm sorry Lord Van. I'll leave you alone then." Her voice was neutral with a hint of sadness as she climbed off the roof. Van didn't bother asking her to come back because, he wouldn't even miss her.
