Spoilers through 1x18, WOCD.
A/N: This is the sequel to Midnight Caller. Inspired by the reviewer who wanted more of a reaction about Veronica's rape. Well, it's not a reaction, per say, but there could be more after Tuesday's episode. Also, this feels really short, so it may be taken down and revamped. Italics are VM voice overs.
It wasn't until the next afternoon that Veronica talked to Logan again. He'd disappeared after Journalism, whereabouts unknown, and had been a no show in the courtyard at lunch. She had dreaded this moment.
He'd shown up at her father's office unexpectedly, and without saying much, convinced her that a walk along the beach was necessary. Ten minutes had gone by without either of the speaking, and the silence was terrifying her. She just wished that he'd ask her whatever he was going to as her, and get it over with. This is why she'd hadn't told anyone. She didn't want to see that look on the faces of her friends. The look that Logan was currently wearing.
"As lovely as this is, Logan...What are we doing here?" She started. Waiting on him was killing her. He slowed to a stop, and turned to look at her.
"Can you talk about it?" He asked, and she cringed. She didn't want to have this conversation.
"What...what do you want to know?" She hated the quaver in her voice. She was Veronica Mars.
I'm stronger than this.
"Do you know who..." Logan let his question trail off. She shook her head.
I wish I did. He'd be locked up faster than you could say community soap.
"No, I...I passed out." She bit her lip and stared down at the sand.
"When was it?" She couldn't look him in the eye.
"Shelly Pomeroy's party. Just after Lilly..." This time Veronica trailed off.
Great. From one painful subject to another.
"I remember seeing you there." Logan replied, looking out towards the water.
"You do?" Her tone was weird...hopeful because maybe Logan had seen something that could help her put this whole mess behind her, and shame...because he was there to witness her downfall.
"Tell me what you remember." His tone was indescribable.
"I walked around the party, ignored until I passed by a group...someone handed me a drink. I never saw who it was. Every thing's kinda blurry after that...and then nothing." She was whispering. He could barely hear her over the rush of the ocean. "I woke up the next morning...in a bed...and..." Her voiced just seemed to fade away as she let out a sob she didn't know she'd been holding in. He pulled her into his arms with little resistance.
Breathe, Veronica. Just breathe.
