It Was All Quiet

By Chaimera

It was all quiet in the TARDIS as Rose traversed the Labyrinthine corridors with ease that only comes from familiarity. The lines and cables hummed softly as she made her way through the massive ship.

She was looking for the Doctor who had disappeared some hours ago, telling her he was hungry. After a while of watching telly, she had gotten curious. She couldn't have been bothered getting worried about him in his own ship, and he hadn't given her any reason to believe that he would have gone off sulking, as he was prone to do. Rose found herself in an unfamiliar part of the TARDIS. The corridors looked different, older and more decayed than the rest of the battered ship. In fact, the whole area had a distinctly creepy feel to the place. The walls and floors creaked around her and in the distance she heard a thump. She quickly spun on her heel.

"Sod this." She muttered to herself. "Stupid git can find himself."

She began to retrace her steps but screamed as a hand snaked around her ankle and she went down. She threw her blond hair out of her eyes. "Doctor!"

He grinned at her and clambered out of his hiding place, sitting beside her on the floor. "I really had you scared, didn't I?"

"Do you mean to tell me that you've been waiting here for hours, just so you could scare me?"

He nodded and giggled maniacally in a manner that Rose found rather disturbing.

She squinted at him, "Are you drunk?"

He shook his head. "Coffee and pixie sticks."

"You have pixie sticks on the TARDIS?"

He folded his arms and looked about him proudly. "The TARDIS had everything."

"Yeah, except a maid."

Suddenly there was an almighty crash and the two companions screeched and jumped together. They both looked at the dislodged bit of pipe and Rose giggled.

The Doctor frowned. "What's so funny? That could have hit me in the head. I could have been killed."

"Yeah, and I could be the Queen of Sheba. Come on."

She pulled the Doctor to his feet and they both headed back, hand in hand.
