Wow, so many reviews! Thank-you! Thanks especially to those who suggested I boost the Magic creature's stats by 500 instead of 1000! Now, with no further adieu,

I give you the next chapter!

They headed downstairs and into the kitchen. There was a blonde teen seated at the table. He was already tucking into an enormous slice of pizza.

"This is Joey Wheeler, " said Yugi "Joey, this is Arrathir."

"Noof koo geet oo." Joey said, through a mouthful of pizza.

"So, where are you from, Arrathir?" asked Grandpa.

"Canada, " said Arrathir "And why country are we in by the way?"

"Japan."

WHAT? I'm in Japan? But how come I can understand what they're saying? I don't speak Japanese!

"Uh, can I used your phone, please?" he blurted out "I'd like to call my parents and tell them where I am."

"Sure, phone's over there." said Grandpa.

Arrathir walked over to the phone, dialled the international number, the number for Canada, and his home number.

"We are sorry, " a mechanical voice in the receptor said "the number you have dialled is not in service."

Arrathir tried again. Same result. Fighting back a wave of panic, he set the receptor down and though logically.

Okay, relax. You've somehow gotten to Japan, and for some reason, your home phone number is out of service. There are only two logical explanations for this; this is a dream, and a really vivid one at that, He pinched himself, wincing as the pain told him this was no dream. Or if this is real, I've somehow stumbled into an alternate dimension.

Ookay,... replied a small voice in the back of his brain somebody's been reading too many sci-fi novels.

Ignoring his pessimistic side, Arrathir continued to ponder his situation. The cave! The cave I went through must be the link between the two worlds! This is so cool! Here I am in an alternate dimension! Well, since I'm here, might as well make the most of it.

Meanwhile, Yugi was having his own interior discussion.

(/Yugi to Yami, Yami to Yugi)

/So what can you make of him/

He appears to be honest, aibou. I sense no evil intentions coming from him.

/But it's so weird that he just appeared like that! Maybe we should ask Shadi to look into his soul./

No! The soul is sacred and should not be trespassed upon!

/But he's so different! And there's that card game...It's so similar to Duel Monsters. That's so strange/

Yes, you are right. We'll trust him for now, and play it by ear.

/Should I tell him about you/

When the time is right, he shall know.

"So, do you duel?" Joey asked Arrathir after he came back and sat down to the table.

Arrathir rolled his eyes. How many times was he going to get asked that question? It seemed these people's lives revolved around that card game!

"Yes, " he said "but I play a different game called Magic: The Gathering. It's a lot like your Duel Monsters game." Joey looked confused, so Arrathir

told him, "I'll show you after dinner."

"You mean you're not done yet?" said Joey, who'd just finished his 7th slice of pizza.

After dinner, they went back upstairs to Yugi's room where Arrathir showed Joey his zombie deck. Joey's reaction was much the same as Yugi's had been earlier on:

"A monster with 3 attack and 2 defence?" he said, as he saw Arrathir's Vengeful Dead, "My deck could beat you, no problem!"

Arrathir sighed and explained the rules of Magic to Joey who agreed that it was similar to Duel Monsters. After that, Arrathir watched Joey and Yugi duel,

Yugi explaining the rules as they went along. Yugi won, "As usual," said Joey.

When Joey left, Arrathir pulled out his sleeping bag and settled down on the couch in the living room for the night, tossing and turning for an hour or so before he managed to fall asleep. Soon, he was dreaming...

Arrathir found himself in a dark corridor. There was a flickering light in the distance. He moved towards it and found a torch in an iron ring set into the wall. He took the torch and examined his surroundings. He looked at the stone wall and noticed it was covered in hieroglyphs. He was in a pyramid. He walked on and came to a T-junction, each hallway leading into darkness. He chose to go left, and soon felt the ground tilting downwards. As he walked on, he emerged into a large room. He held his torch aloft to try and get a better idea of his new surroundings. There were several door leading out of the room. Each door had a torch on either side of it.

Suddenly, a booming voice called out, "Who's there? Show yourself, intruder!"

Arrathir didn't stick around to find out who had spoken. He bolted fro the nearest door and charged through the hallway, running as fast as he could. He turned at every intersection, trying to loose whoever was chasing him. After a while, he stopped and listened. Not a sound could be heard, save for the crackling of his torch and his panting breath. He raised his torch and took a look around. He was at the intersection of two hallways. To his left, he noticed there were very large hieroglyphs. He went over to examine them. The beautifully detailed sculpting showed wizards battling with monsters. The next few scenes showed the monsters turning on their masters and killing them, more scenes of destruction followed. Next, the hieroglyphs showed a brave looking Egyptian man, surrounded by seven objects. There was a sceptre, an eye, a beautiful necklace, a set of plate scales, a ring, a large key, and a familiar-looking pyramid.

That's Yugi's necklace piece!

The rest of the carving showed the Egyptian battling the monster and eventually destroying them. Arrathir noticed that there was a certain symbol which was repeated throughout the carvings: the eye. It bore into him, seeming to pierce his very soul. He managed to tear his gaze away from the eye.

He sat down and tried to evaluate his situation: He was in the middle of a pyramid with no idea where he was or how to get out, and some weirdo was looking

for him. He decided to keep walking, reasoning he'd get somewhere. As he walked, he could feel the eye following him. Now he was starting to get creeped out. To top it off, his torch was starting to go out. He did not want to be left in the dark in this place.

As he rounded a corner, he spotted a light in the distance.

Yes! Another torch to replace my old one!

He ran towards the light and burst out into the large room he'd been in earlier on. This time, all the torches were lit. As he stepped into the room, he heard a grinding sound from behind him. He turned; a large slab of stone was coming down over the entrance he'd just come from. All around the room, the other doors were closing too.

He tried to dive under the door, but he was too late. The only thing he got was a bruised knee as he banged into the stone.

"So nice of you to join me, " the voice said "Did you really think you could escape me in my own home?"

Arrathir couldn't pinpoint the direction the voice was coming from. It seemed to be all around him.

"What do you want?" he asked.

"Why did you trespass into my domain?" the voice asked.

"I don't know. I woke up and I was here."

"Well, you'd better leave now, if you don't want to end up in the Shadow Realm."

Arrathir didn't know what the voice was talking about, but he didn't like the sound of "the Shadow Realm".

"Listen," he said, "I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to be here, but I have no idea how I got here! You gotta believe me!"

"Silence! Prepare yourself for a one-way trip to the Shadow Realm!"

Arrathir was enveloped in darkness. He felt the ground disappearing under his feet and he fell. He came to suddenly, as he hit the carpet, having fallen off the couch in his sleep. He was shaken from his dream. It had seemed so real! He was to excited to go back to sleep, so he decided to look over his decks, but he couldn't find his zombie deck.

Oh yeah, I left it upstairs in Yugi's room. I'll just slip upstairs and grab it. I think it's on his desk.

Thankful for training himself to move silently, Arrathir stealthily made his way up to Yugi's room. When he reached the door, he realized that Yugi was awake and talking to someone. He peeked through the crack of the open door and saw two silhouettes sitting on Yugi's bed. The sorter one, he recognized as Yugi, but the other one looked very similar, down to the spiky hair.

Arrathir strained to hear what they were saying.

"Are you sure it was him?" said Yugi.

"I'm positive, aibou." said a deeper voice.

"Yami, you're overreacting a little." said Yugi.

"Overreacting? Yugi, he trespassed into my soul room! I want my revenge."

"That means..."

"Exactly," said the other voice "A Shadow Game."

"What? You can't be serious?" said Yugi.

"I am serious! This is no ordinary youth! How did he break into my soul room? He must be tested."

"You mean a duel? Yami, he doesn't even know how to duel! This would be unfair!" Yugi protested.

"I have considered this. What we would do is combine the rules of Duel Monsters with the rules of that game he plays, Magic."

"Would you be duelling him?"

"Yes," said the voice " I was the one wronged."

"What if he looses?" asked Yugi.

"Then we'll get Shadi to look into his soul. If he wins, his trespass will be forgiven."

"That means I'll have to tell him about you."

"Oh, he knows," said the voice "He's been listening outside your door for some time now."

To be continued...
