Ye gods! So many reviews! Thank you! OK, well, now that Yami's been beaten, that's the end right? WRONG! I'ma have some more fun beating Duel Monsters.

By the way, note the pen name change: No longer Link_101, now I am Arrathir.

Enough chitchat, let's get down to business, the fic!

Arrathir looked at Yami. He'd expected the spirit to show anger, or disbelief. Instead, Yami was smiling.

"You did well, Arrathir," he said "You trusted the Heart of the Cards and your deck led you to victory."

"What's the Heart of the Cards?" asked Arrathir.

"If you treasure and care for something long enough," said Yami "It develops something close to a soul."

"Wait, you're saying the cards are alive?"

"Almost," said Yami "This is why duellists who only care about power and do not respect their cards will never succeed. You respect your cards and because of that, they fight more bravely for you."

Suddenly, Yugi appeared beside Yami, but he was see-through, like a ghost.

"My Grandpa taught me about the Heart of the Cards long ago," he said "When I first started Duel Monsters, my Grandpa had a very rare and valuable card, a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. It was given to him by and old friend. When Kaiba found out Grandpa had that card, he challenged Grandpa to a duel and took the card from him. When it was over, Kaiba took the Blue-Eyes and tore it up. Grandpa gave me his deck and asked me to challenge Kaiba and teach him a lesson. I was loosing badly, until I managed to summon Exodia The Forbidden One and obliterate Kaiba. Even though Kaiba had more powerful cards, I trusted my deck and it helped me beat Kaiba."

"I confess, Arrathir," said Yami " I let you win. I wanted to see what kind of a duellist you were and if you trusted your cards."

"So this whole things was a set-up?" asked Arrathir, feeling a bit angry and confused.

"Well, yes," admitted Yami "But wasn't it better than having Shadi look into your soul?"

Before Arrathir could answer, a man in a suit came up to him and said, "Mr. Kaiba requests your presence in his office immediately."

"Why?" asked Arrathir "What'd I do?"

"Mr. Kaiba does not like to be kept waiting," said the man and he left.

Arrathir gave Yami a questioning look, but the spirit indicated him to follow the man. The man led Arrathir to an elevator and told him, "Go to the top floor. Mr. Kaiba's office is the last door at the end of the hallway."

The left, leaving Arrathir confused as ever. He stepped into the elevator and pushed the button for the top floor. The doors slid smoothly closed and the cabin moved up. Arrathir looked anxiously at the numbers ticking upward. He wondered why Kaiba wanted to see him. He was brought out of his thoughts by the elevator coming to a stop and the doors opening.

He stepped out of the elevator into an oak-panelled hallway. There was a blue carpet on the ground, and the ceiling was cream colour, with fluorescent lights every dozen feet. Many doors led from the hallway. He stepped forward, the carpet muffling his footsteps. As he walked, he could hear no sound, except for the muffled sound of his steps, and the distant humming of the lights.

He reached the last door. It looked just like the others, wooden with a brass doorknob. From behind the door, he could hear someone typing on a keyboard, and the occasional click of a computer mouse.

He knocked timidly on the door. "Come in," said Kaiba's voice.

Arrathir opened the door and walked into Kaiba's office. It was essentially bear, except for a desk with a computer on it, as well as an enormous bay window behind the desk. Kaiba was seated at the desk, typing away furiously at his computer. He looked up, and saw Arrathir.

"Oh, it's you," he said, "I saw your duel against Yugi, impressive. I challenge you to a duel!"

"Not again," groaned Arrathir, "Is this all you people do?"

"The choice is yours," said Kaiba "My offer stands for two more minutes."

OK, he's obviously not going to go easy on me like Yami did. This could be a good chance to really test my decks. If I loose, only my ego will be hurt. It would be really funny to see his reaction to being beaten by a stranger.

            "Offer accepted Kaiba."

"That's Mr. Kaiba to you," said Kaiba "The duel will begin in one hour. Tell Yugi he can come along. I'll be beating him after I pummel your pitiful deck."

Boy, what's bigger?  This guy's ego, or that window behind him?

Arrathir left Kaiba's office and took the elevator back down to the arena where Yugi was waiting.

"So, what did he want?" asked Yugi.

"He wants to duel me," said Arrathir "He said you could come along, and he'd battle you after me."

"You're duelling Kaiba?" asked Yugi "Wow, Kaiba's a pretty serious duellist. He won't go easy on you."

"Yeah, so I need your help. You've duelled him before, what's his deck like?"

"Well," said Yugi "His favourite card is the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He's got three of them, and if he gets them all out, he can summon the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Other than that, he's got a lot of dragon-helper cards. You probably want to destroy his Blue-Eyes as soon as he gets the out."

"So, which deck do you think I should use?" asked Arrathir.

"The choice is yours, but remember, Kaiba isn't going to let you off easy. Choose wisely."

Arrathir jumped as Yami had just taken over Yugi's body.

"Geeze, will you guys stop trading places like that? It's freaking me out!"

"You have 50 minutes until your duel. I recommend you find nourishment," said Yami.

"Oh, you mean food?" asked Arrathir, who suddenly realized he was very hungry. His eventful duel had given him quite an appetite. "Is there a food court around here?"

Yami went back into the puzzle, and Yugi led Arrathir down to the food court. Fortunately, Kaiba Land was a popular tourist place, so Arrathir was able to exchange some of his money into Yens. As they ate, they talked about the upcoming duel. Yami joined them in spirit form to offer his advice.

"Kaiba's got a lot more ticks in his deck than just his Blue-Eyes," warned Yami "Don't underestimate his other monsters."

"Well, with your help, I know I can beat him!" said Arrathir, taking a sip from his soda.

At this moment, Yami went ballistic. He began screaming and fell to the ground twitching.

"To the Shadow Real with you, thing of evil!" he screamed.

A bright light shot from the puzzle, and Arrathir's drink disappeared into thin air. Yami disappeared into the puzzle.

"What was that about?" asked Arrathir.

Yugi chuckled, "Yami's had a bit of a bad experience with caffeine. Once he was in control and drunk a Coke. It was crazy. He was not used to the caffeine, so he was hyperactive for hours. Now he freaks out whenever he's around caffeine. Sorry about your drink, I'll buy you another one."

After their meal, they headed to the duelling arena where Kaiba had scheduled the duel. Kaiba was already there, ready for the duel. Arrathir took his place at his duelling platform and they both powered up their Duel Disks. Arrathir's disk beeped, and a mechanical voice said, "No deck detected. Please insert your deck into the deck slot."

Crap, I still don't know what deck I'm gonna use.

"Well, are you ready yet?" asked Kaiba "Or are you still contemplating which deck to loose with?"

            Here goes.

Arrathir slipped his deck into the slot.

"Let's Duel!" said Kaiba and Arrathir.

            To be continued…

Author's note: Yes, you're probably peeved at me 'cuz Yugi didn't really loose, but he'll loose eventually. Meanwhile, which deck should I battle Kaiba with? Zombie, Elf, or Artifact? The choice is yours, review!
