-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arrathir, Khell, Yugi and Joey walked through the streets of Domino as all around them, duellists faced off, hollograms bursting to life in a symphony of colours. Arrathir was impressed by the energy with which the duellists battled.
Yugi had already been challenged by a young boy, Joey was battling a tall man who was using a deck full of flying creatures, and Khell had gone off to find someone to duel. Arrathir was scanning the crowds, looking for a potential opponent, when someone called him.
"Hey! You there!"
He turned around and saw a short boy wearing thick glasses and a green jacket with a mop of blue hair.
"Are you that duellist who plays that weird game?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm Arrathir, and you are..."
"Weevil Underwood," the boy said "Regional Duel Monsters Champion. My mighty bugs will crush you and prove Duel Monsters is superior to your piteful game. I challenge you!"
"Fine," said Arrathir "I will wager one locator card."
"Ohh," sadi Weevil "Scared now, are we? Don't want to get knocked out so early by an expert like me? All right, one card it is."
Weevil and Arrathir powered up their Duel Disks, drew their hands, life meters clocked up to 10, 000...
"DUEL!"
"I'll let you go first," said Weevil "So you can prepare your paltry defense against my relentless army of insects!"
Man, this guy's ego is as big as Kaiba's. Anyways, let's see my hand. Zombie Trailblazer, Terror, Carrion Feeder, Raise Dead, Clutch of Undeath, another Carrion Feeder, and Undead Warchief. Let's see, I should get my Undead Warcheif out quickly so he can boost my Zombies.
"I summon Undead Warchief (500/500). This undead bossts my zombies' attack by 1000 and their defence by 500. I set one card (Terror). Your move."
"Is that the best you can do? I summon Flying Kamakiri (1400/900) then I set one card face down. Your turn."
I bet that face down card is a trap. Only one way to find out.
"I draw (Vengeful Dead), then I summon Carrion Feeder (500/500), but thanks to my Undead Warchief, he's a 1500/1000. Next, I play Clutch of Undeath on my Undead Warchief."
The zombie suddenly grew several feet taller.
"This enchantment boosts my Undead Warchief's attack and defence by 1500! Now he's a 3000/2500! Then I attack you with my Undead Warchief."
"I block with Flying Kamakiri."
ARRATHIR: 10, 000
WEEVIL: 7900
"Ha," said Weevil "You may have taken an early lead, but my insects will soon be crawling all over your monsters! I summon Petit Moth (300/200)," a green caterpillar appeared on the field, "and equip it with Cocoon of Evolution (0/2000)!" The caterpillar was enveloped with a green cocoon. "In four turns," said Weevil "The cocoon will open, revealing my greatest monster! I set one card. Your turn."
Arrathir drew a Consume Spirit.
"I summon Zombie Trailblazer (2000/1500). (A/N: This includes the bonus from Undead Warchief) This creature has the power to make one of my creatures unblockable if I tap an untapped zombie. I set one card (Consume Spirit). Your move.
I really don't like those two face down cards, so I'll wait for a bit.
"I set one card and flip it over. Say hello to my Parasite Pesticide (500/300). When it is turned over, it goes in your deck and your deck is shuffled. Once your draw it, it is summoned on your side and inflicts 1000 damage to your lifepoints. As well, all face-up monster cards on your side of the field are treated as insect-type monsters as long as this card remains face-up on the field. In three turns, my Great Moth with emerge from its cocoon to annihilate you! Your move."
Arrathir crossed his fingers and drew his next card. It was Parasite Pesticide.
What are the odds that would happen?
ARRATHIR: 9000
WEEVIL: 7900
Suddenly, Arrathir's Undead Warcheif dissapeared.
Of course, Clutch of Undeath only works with zombies and since they're now all insects the enchantment gives him -1500/-1500.
"All right! Your Parasite won't be around much longer, since I use my Carrion Feeder's ability allowing me to sacrifice a creature to give him 500/500. I sacrifice your Parasite Pesticide, which means my creatures are once again zombies and my Carrion feeder is a 1000/1000. Then I summon Vengeful Dead (1500/1000). Your move."
None of my creatures are strong enough to beat his Cocoon of Evolution, but just wait until his Great Moth appears; that's when I'll use my Terror card.
"Only two turns left," said Weevil "I summon another Flying Kamakiri (1400/900), then I play Swords of Revealing Light. None of your monsters can attck for three turns!"
No biggie. As soon as his moth comes out...
"Now you can't do a thing but watch helplessly as my Great Moth emerges and crushes your army!" Weevil laughed madly.
"My turn," said Arrathir, drawing Gravespawn Sovereign.
Meanwhile, Khell was wandering the streets. He had duelled twice and won both times. He now had four locator cards and was looking to get a fifth. The two duellists had both seemed cautious and had only wagered one card.
As he rounded a corner, Khell did a double-take. There, in front of him was a Mindstab Trull attacking a Magician of Faith. The thrull easily bashed through the smaller creature.
The other duellist looked on, helpless as his lifepoints fell to zero. The mage crossed over and claimed his loactor cards and ante card.
Khell was speechless. What was a Dominarian doing here? He ran to catch up with the mage.
"Hey! You there, mage!"
The mage turned around. He was a dark haired man witha stern face. Khell could feel the black mana eminating from him, another ghell.
"Who are you?" he asked "What do you want?"
"Give me your name, and I will give you mine, mage," said Khell.
"I am Kistu, you must be a spellcaster as well. I feel your mana. How did you get here?"
"I was experimenting with a new spell, but something went wrong. The flow of mana became unstable and it opened a portal between Dominaria and this world," said Khell.
"That explains how I got here. I was travelling near the Krosan forest when I felt a powerful surge of mana. I went to investigate and fould myself in this world. Others may have been pulled through as well," said Kistu.
"The only way to reverse this process would be for me to find the portal and return to Dominaria. Then I would need to sever the mana connections that keep the portal open."
"I will be waiting," said Kistu "For now, I am content with battling these "Duel Monsters". Good-bye," he turned to leave.
"Wait!" said Khell "You are a ghell!"
"Yes," said Kistu "But I have never served the Cabal. I wander around Dominaria, trying to show people that black mana does not represent the Cabal."
"You could be lying. I challenge you to a duel. It will allow me to see if you tell the truth."
"Fine," said Kistu "No mana though. We will use the standard Magic rules."
The duellists powered up their Duel Disks, decks shuffled, and life meters clocked up to 20.
"I'll go first," said Khell "I play one forest mana, your turn."
"I play one swamp, tap it to play Dark Ritual. I use the three mana to summon Hypnotic Specter (2/2-flying). Your move."
"I play one mountain," said Khell "Tap it and my forest to cast Flame Burst on your Hypnotic Specter. Your move."
Back at Arrathir's duel, things weren't going so smoothly. Weevil's Great Moth (2600/2500) had emerged from its cocoon and Arrathir had used Terror on it. However, Weevil had used his trap card, Magic Jammer, to counter the spell. Then he had attacked full force. Arrathir had blocked his Great Moth with his Carrion Feeder, sacrificing Zombie Trailblazer to boost its defense, but he still took 1000 damage from the attack. He blocked the Flying Kamakiri with his Vengeful Dead, taking 400 damage. The payoff was the because of Vengeful Dead's effect, Weevil had taken 1500 damage and only had his Great Moth left on the field. However, Weevil had managed to slip another Parasite Pesticide in Arrathir's deck.
ARRATHIR: 7600
WEEVIL: 6400
Let's see: I've got Raise Dead, Gravespawn Sovereign, Vengeful Dead, and Contaminated Bond.
"I summon my Gravespawn Sovereign (1500/1500) and use my magic card, Raise Dead to return my Undead Warchief to my hand. Next, I play Contaminated Bond on your Great Moth. Each time you attack or block with it, you loose 1500 lifepoints. Your move."
"Ha!" said Weevil "Your pitiful enchantment won't help you for long. I summon Witch of the Black Forest (1100/1200). Then I play Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw two cards. Your move."
Arrathir cursed loudly as he drew his next card, it was Parasite Pesticide.
ARRATHIR: 6600
WEEVIL: 6400
"Fine," said Arrathir "I summon my Undead Warchief (500/500). Your move."
Weevil cackled as he drew his next card, "I have you on the defensive! I summon Giant Rat (1400/1450). Then I sacrifice Giant Rat and Witch of the Black Forest to summon my Insect Queen (2200/2400)! This monster's power is increased by 200 for every insect-type monster on the field, which means it is a 2800/2400! Your move."
Arrathir smiled as he drew his next card. " I summon Carrion Feeder (500/500). Then I sacrifice Parasite Pesticide into it. Now all my creatures are zombies again, plus they get the boost from my Undead Warchief. Your move."
"Ha!" said Weevil "Your end is near! Watch as I summon my Mechanical Spider (400/500)!" A metallic spider materialized on the field.
"You are gonna beat me with that puny thing?" Arrathir scoffed.
"It may be weak, but once it attacks a dark-type monster, that monster is automatically destroyed! Also, because it is an insect-type monster, it boosts my Insect Queen's attack by 200, making it a 2600/2400! Then I'll set one card. Your move."
I've got to stop him from summoning more bugs! Let's see, what card did I just draw…perfect! Lethal Vapors! This will keep him in check.
"I play my continuous trap card, Lethal Vapors!" Yellow smog crept onto the field, making the creatures hack and cough. "This trap card destroys any creature that comes into play. Any player can destroy it, at the cost of skipping their next turn."
Arrathir enjoyed watching the expression on Weevil's face as he realized he couldn't boost his Insect Queen's attack by summoning more insects.
"That won't matter for long!" screeched Weevil "Mechanical Spider, attack!"
The spider launched itself at Arrathir.
"I block with my Carrion Feeder."
The zombie jumped in front of the attacking bug. The two monsters met with brutal force. The Carrion Feeder quickly slew the insect, but as it died, the monster exploded, destroying Arrathir's Carrion feeder.
"My turn," said Arrathir "I draw (Corpse Harvester). Next, I attack you with my Gravespawn Sovereign. Because of my Undead Warchief, it's a 2500/2000."
(A/N: From now on, the stats will be adjusted to include the effect of Undead Warchief)
"NOOOO!" screamed Weevil "I block with my Great Moth."
ARRATHIR: 6600
WEEVIL: 4900
"It is time for me to avenge my Great Moth," said Weevil "I play Harpie's Feather Duster to remove all your trap cards. This will allow me to summon one monster face down, and I'll end my turn."
This duel has gone on long enough. Time to bring out the big guns.
"I draw (Infernal Caretaker), and set one creature face down (Infernal Caretaker). Now, I attack you with my Gravespawn Sovereign."
"Ha! I activate my facedown monster, Man Eater Bug (450/600). When this monster is flipped over, I can destroy any monster on the field. Say good-bye to your Undead Warchief! Since your Gravespawn Sovereign no longer is powered up, I'll block it with my Insect Queen!"
Shit. He just took out two of my best creatures in one turn. Oh well, I can get them back.
"Now you see," said Weevil "You have already lost! You only have one monster left, and once I summon my next card, it will power up my Insect Queen and allow me to crush your puny monster and defeat you!"
"That's it!" said Arrathir "I've had enough of this bullshit. All you've been doing all game is saying how you're gonna beat me and how your deck is better. Well guess what, Underwear? I'm not going down without a fight!"
Weevil was a bit stunned by Arrathir's outburst, but he resumed his turn.
"I summon Needle Worm (750/600). Next, I'll flip over my facedown monster, revealing my third Parasite Pesticide! Into your deck it goes! Now, my Insect Queen is a 2800/2400! I must sacrifice one of my monsters to have it attack, so I sacrifice my Man Eater Bug. Insect Queen, attack!"
Arrathir winced as the Insect Queen fired a volley of spikes at him.
I can't loose my Corpse Harvester. I'll just have to take the damage.
ARRATHIR: 3800
WEEVIL: 4900
I can't use my plan now! I don't have time! If he attacks full out, I'll loose. I'm really screwed. OK, remember what Yugi said: Trust your cards. Hey, deck? I'm really screwed right now, so could you send some big creature my way?
Arrathir crossed his fingers as he drew his next card. It was Zombie Brute.
Holy shit! It worked! This card will save my ass!
"I flip over my face down card, Infernal Caretaker (1000/1000). When this card is turned over, all zombies from all graveyards are returned to their owner's hands. So I return Zombie Trailblazer, Undead Warchief, two Carrion Feeders, Vengeful Dead, and Gravespawn Sovereign to my hand. Next, I summon Zombie Brute (2500/2000). When this card is summoned, I can reveal any number of zombie cards from my hand to boost his attack and defence by 500 for how many cards I reveal. I reveal the six zombies I just returned to my hand," Arrathir flashed his hand at Weevil "This means my Zombie Brute gets 3000/3000, making him a 5500/5000! Corpse Harvester, attack!"
The zombie wizard fired a black beam at Weevil. The Needle Worm jumped in front of its master and took the blast, exploding in a shower of gore.
ARRATHIR: 3800
WEEVIL: 4000
"Your move, Underwear," Arrathir taunted.
"You will pay for that insult!" screeched Weevil "I summon Dark Elf (2000/800) and I set one card. Your move."
He's dead.
Arrathir laughed as he saw his next card, Zombie Master.
"I summon Zombie Master (1000/1500). This creature allows me to regenerate any zombie by tapping another zombie. Zombie Brute, attack!"
Weevil blocked with his Insect Queen, the zombie effortlessly cutting through the massive bug.
ARRATHIR: 3800
WEEVIL: 900
"I play Raigeki!" screamed Weevil.
Arrathir watched as a gigantic bolt of lightning incinerated his creatures.
"Next," said Weevil "I play Monster Reborn to return my Insect Queen to the field! Your move!"
"Will you never learn?" said Arrathir, drawing his next card (Cruel Revival) "That zombies can never die. They're already dead! Which is what your Insect Queen is about to become. I play Cruel Revival on it! This allows me turn return one zobie card from my graveyard to my hand, so I choose Zombie Brute, summon him, revealing six zombies. Your move."
Weevil was panicking now. Sweat was running down his face as he looked over his hand. Arrathir knew he had him. Even if Weevil did destroy his Zombie Brute, he had a whole lot more powerful zombies in his hand.
"I summon Giant Rat (1400/1450)," said Weevil, knowing it was no use "Your turn."
Arrathir drew his next card (Reaping the Graves), but he wouldn't need it.
"Zombie Brute, finish this duel! Attack Weevil!"
Even by blocking with his Dark Elf and Giant Rat, Weevil was unable to stop his lifepoints from crashing down to zero.
ARRATHIR: 3800WEEVIL: 0
"Hand it over, Underwear," said Arrathir "Your locator card and best card."
"Here," said Weevil, handing him his Insect Queen, "Please take care of it."
Arrathir was about to reply, when he saw a great shape rising over the rooftops. It was massive with four fists like anvils. Its spiked head let out a defiant roar.
Krosan Cloudscraper…To be continued…
Author's Note: Well, the long-awaited update is over. Guess you just have to keep bugging me until I finish the next chapter. On a further note: To all you wanna-be-in-this-fic readers out there, I need decklists. HOWEVER, before you send me your lists, I will only put you in my story if you send me the following:
Your character's name, gender, age, physical appearance (clothes, height, ect…), personality, decklist (IMPORTANT: Include card stats, mana cost (If magic, stars if Yu-Gi-Oh), and effect. I will not accept your decklist if this information is not present.), combos (if any), and any other information you may find important.
Also, I cannot guarantee that I'll put everybody in the story. I know this sounds picky, but I don't want to have to spend three hours on each decklist figuring out what the cards do.
See you all!
