I just noticed a typo in the last chapter. When Arrathir uses Corpse Dance, the card returns the top creature card from the graveyard into play, not library.

Arrathir stored his deck and left the duelling platform. He felt pumped, adrenaline running through his body. He couldn't wait for his next duel! He entered the elevator and waved to the crowd once more before the doors closed and the elevator took him down. When the doors opened, Yugi was outside, waiting for the elevator.
"Congratulations," he said, "That was a great duel!"
"Thanks," said Arrathir "Where do I go to watch your duel?"
"Follow that hallway," said Yugi, indicating to his left "And you'll get to a door. You can just go in."
"Thanks, good luck," said Arrathir as the elevator doors closed. He followed the hallway, hearing the pounding noise of the crowd. Eventually, he found himself in front of a black door. He opened it a crack and peeked inside. On the other side of the door was a large room with a gigantic bay window covering one wall. The room was furnished with comfortable armchairs. There were several tables scattered around the room and a few finalists were having practice duels. Kaiba was standing in front of the window, waiting impatiently for the duel to start. KaibaCorp employees mingled among the duellists, taking orders for refreshments. Joey, to his credit, already had several empty bowls of Ramen noodles in front of him.
"Omedtou, Arrathir-kun," (Congratulations, Arrathir) said Ryou.
"Arigatou," (Thanks) said Arrathir, turning to the albino duellist "I can't wait to see your other self duel, I hear your deck's pretty good." (A/N: In the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh, nobody ever calls the spirits by their names. Yami is called "mou hitori noYugi" (the other Yugi.) Similarly, Bakura is referred to as "the other Bakura.")
"Hey! The duel's starting!" said Joey, excitedly.
Arrathir sat himself down in an armchair in front of the window. The window looked down upon the duelling field. Yugi and Mai were on the duelling platforms; Yugi on the left, Mai on the right.
"Welcome back, everybody," said Judge Komo. "In the second duel of the second Battle City tournament we have Duellist Kingdom winner and Battle City champion, Yugi Mutou!"
The crowd cheered wildly and Arrathir saw Yugi blush as the camera zoomed in on his face.
"And his opponent, Mai 'Harpie Lady' Kujaku! She will have the honours and go first. Let's duel!"
"I summon Harpie Lady (1300/1400), in attack mode," said Mai as a winged woman appeared on the field, "And I set one card face down. Your move!"
Arrathir saw the subtle change as Yami took over.
"I summon Alpha the Magnet Warrior (1400/1700), in attack mode," said Yami. A small warrior in a suit of armour appeared on the field. "Next, I play one card facedown. Now, Alpha, attack her Harpie Lady!" The warrior charged forwards and cleaved Mai's creature in two. (A/N: In Duel Monsters, when two monsters in attack mode attack, the monster with the higher attack wins and the difference in their attacks is subtracted from the opponent's lifepoints)

"I play Harpie's Hunting Ground," said Mai "This magic card boosts the attack and defence of all winged beast-type monsters by 200. As well, whenever a Harpie Lady or Harpie Lady Sisters is summoned, I can destroy one magic or trap card on the field. Now I summon Harpy Lady SB (2000/1500) (Including the boost from Harpie's Hunting Ground), in attack mode. I choose to destroy your facedown card."
Yami slipped Mystical Space Typhoon into his graveyard.
"And now I attack Alpha with my Harpie Lady SB!"
The winged woman flew over and slashed Yami's warrior to pieces.

"It's your move," said Mai.
"I summon Giant Soldier of Stone (1300/2000), in defence mode," a giant golem of stone appeared on the field in a crouching position. "And I set another card facedown. Your move."
"I summon Dancing Fairy (1700/1000), in defence mode," said Mai as a small winged creature appeared on the field. "As long as this card remains in defence mode, I gain 1000 lifepoints at each of my standby phases. Then I set one card facedown. Your move."
"I flip summon Mask of Darkness (900/400)," said Yugi. A wooden mask appeared on the field. "Next, I tribute both my monsters to summon Dark Magician (2500/2100) in attack mode! Dark Magician, attack her Harpy Lady SB!"
The wizard fired a purple beam of energy from his staff.
"I reveal my trap card, Mirror Wall!" said Mai. A silver wall appeared in front of Mai's creatures. The beam "This trap card reduces the attack of all your attacking monsters by half, meaning your Dark Magician now only has 1250 attack points! Harpie Lady SB, counterattack!"
The harpie pulled out a fiery whip and lashed out at Yami's Dark magician, ensnaring him. She pulled him in and slashed his throat with a swift flash of her claws.

"I set one monster in defence mode and end my turn," said Yami.
"To keep Mirror Wall in play, I have to pay 2000 lifepoints per upkeep, but thanks to Dancing Fairy, I only pay 1000," said Mai.

"I summon Bird Face (1600/1600), in attack mode" said Mai "And I play Elegant Egoist. This card allows me to Special Summon Harpie Lady Sisters (2150/2300) in attack mode! Next, I play Raising Air Currents!" A strong wind began to blow. "This magic card raises the attack of all wind-type monsters by 500 and decreases their defence by 400. So now my Harpie Lady SB is at (2500/1100) and Harpie Lady Sisters at (2650/1900). Harpie Lady Sisters, attack his facedown card!"
"I play my quick-play magic card, Spellbinding Circle!" said Yami. A green circle appeared around Harpie Lady Sisters and it stopped its attack. "Your monster can no longer attack or change battle position."
"Fine, Harpie Lady SB, attack his facedown monster!" said Mai.
Yami flipped over the card and a man crouching behind a large shield appeared on the field.
"You've attacked my Big Shield Guardna (100/2600)!" (A/N: When a monster attacks a monster in defence position, if the attacker's attack doesn't beat the defence of the other monster, the difference is subtracted from the attacking player's lifepoints. No monsters are destroyed.)

"End turn."
"Watch this: I sacrifice Big Shield Guardna to summon Dark Magician Girl (2000/1700), in attack mode." A blonde woman in a blue outfit wielding a staff appeared. She winked at Yami and faced Mai's creatures. "Next," said Yugi "I use Sage's Stone. This magic card can only be activated when there is a face-up Dark Magician Girl on my side of the field. I can Special Summon a Dark Magician from my deck to the field." The purple-robed wizard appeared on the field. "As well," said Yugi "My Dark Magician Girl's attack is increased by 300 for each Dark Magician or Magician of Black Chaos in either player's Graveyard, meaning she is a (2300/1700). Next, I tribute my Dark Magician to use the magic card, Dedication Through Light and Darkness. This card allows me to special summon Dark Magician of Chaos (2800/2600), in attack mode!" A man dressed in blue armour appeared on the field and pointed his staff menacingly at Mai's creatures. "Finally," said Yami "I sacrifice 800 lifepoints to play Premature Burial, returning my Dark Magician to play in attack mode! Dark Magician, of Chaos, attack her Harpie Lady SB!"

"You forgot about my Mirror Wall," said Mai "Your Dark Magician of Chaos isn't powerful enough to finish my Harpie Lady SB!"
"Except for the fact that summoning Dark Magician of Chaos allowed me to return a Magic card from my graveyard to my hand. Go, Mystical Space Typhoon! Destroy her Mirror Wall!"
A strong wind picked up and blew away Mai's defence. The Dark Magician of Chaos fired a blue beam at the Harpie Lady SB, who exploded in a million digital shards.
"Now, Dark Magician, attack her Harpie Lady Sisters!"
"My Raising Air Currents is still in play," said Mai "My monster is still more powerful than yours."
"Then I'll play United We Stand on my Dark Magician, raising his attack by 800 for each monster I control. His attack is now 4900!"
The Dark Magician attacked the Harpie Lady Sisters, but was killed when they counterattacked.
"I activated my trap card, Magic Jammer, to negate the effect of your United We Stand," said Mai, gloating.
"Fine, Dark Magician Girl, attack her Dancing Fairy!" The Dark Magician Girl raised her staff fired a magical attack at the fairy, killing it.

"I play Pot of Greed, drawing two cards," said Mai "Then I tribute Harpie Lady Sisters and Bird Face to summon Harpie's Pet Dragon (2000/2500), in defence mode. Next, I play Monster Reborn to return my Harpie Lady SB (2500/1100) to play, in defence mode, and finally, I play Elegant Egoist to Special Summon Harpie Lady Sisters (2650/1900), in attack mode. Then I set one monster facedown in defence mode and set one card. End turn."
As Yami drew his next card, he felt a sudden jolt. He looked at the card's he'd just drawn: The Winged Dragon of Ra. One of the two Egyptian God Cards that resided in his deck.
Don't do it, Yami!

Mai's had a really bad experience with that card, playing it would bring back a lot of painful memories to her

Then I tribute him to use Knight's Title, allowing me to summon Dark Magician Knight (2500/2100), in attack mode. Summoning him allows me to destroy one card on the field. I choose your Harpie's Pet Dragon. Now, Dark Magician Girl, attack Harpie Lady Sisters!"
"Activate Triangle Ecstasy Spark," said Mai "The attack of Harpie Lady Sisters become 2700 until end of turn and you cannot activate any trap or magic cards!"
/So that's why she put Harpie Lady Sisters in attack mode! I fell for it/

"Dark Magician of Chaos, attack her Harpie Lady SB!" The wizard fired a ball of black energy at the winged creature, obliterating it. (A/N: It was in defence mode, so Mai looses no lifepoints)
"I switch Dark Magician of Chaos and Dark Magician Girl to defence mode. End turn."
"I summon Harpie's Brother (2500/400), in attack mode," said Mai. A man with bright red wings appeared on the field. "Next, I flip summon Harpie Lady (1800/1500) and I play another Rising Air Currents, giving all my Wind monsters a 1000 attack boost and a 800 defence cut. So, Harpie Lady Sisters is a (3150/1500), Harpie's Brother is a (3000/0), and Harpie Lady is a (2300/1100). Harpie Lady Sisters, attack his Dark Magician Knight!"

"Now, Harpie Lady, direct attack on his lifepoints!" The Harpie Lady raked Yami across the face, knocking him down.

"One more attack like that and you're finished!" taunted Mai.

"I summon Skilled Dark Magician (1900/1700), in defence mode. Whenever a magic or trap card is played, I can put a spell counter on this creature. Next, I play Graceful Charity, drawing three cards and discarding two. I also play Chorus of Sanctuary, increasing the defence of all defence position monsters by 500, and finally, I play the magic card, Exchange. We show each other our hands and take one card from our opponent's hand."
Mai frowned and the duelling platform extended so they could switch cards. Mai took Yami's Pot of Greed and Yami took her Premature Burial.
"Now, Skilled Dark Magician has three spell counters on him, so I tribute him and Special Summon Dark Magician (2500/2100) back from my graveyard! Then I sacrifice 800 lifepoints to use Premature Burial to return Dark Magician of Chaos (2800/2600) to play, returning Monster Reborn to my hand as per his effect and using it to return Dark Magician Girl (2300/1700) to play. Finally, I play Card Destruction. We discard our hands and draw that many cards. Dark Magician, attack her Harpie Lady!"

"I switch my monsters to defence mode and end my turn."
"I fail to see your strategy," said Mai "I summon Dancing Fairy (1700/1000). Now, Harpie Lady Sisters, attack his Dark Magician and Harpie Lady attack his Dark Magician Girl!"
The Harpies obliterated both wizards in the violent attack.
"It's over," gloated Mai "There is no way you can keep avoiding my attacks."
"Your problem," said Yami "Is that you rely too much on your magic cards. I play Harpie's Feather Duster, destroying all traps and magic cards on your side of the field! Say good-bye to the boosts to your Harpies!"
Mai watched, horrified, as he Raising Air Currents and Harpie's Hunting Ground were destroyed, bringing her monsters down to their original stats.
"Next," said Yami "I play Swords of Revealing Light. None of your monsters can attack for three turns! Dark Magician of Chaos, attack her Dancing Fairy!" Mai's fairy was destroyed by the wizard's magic attack "End turn."
"I summon my Final Harpie Lady SB and play my final Elegant Egoist to Special Summon Harpie Lady Sisters," said Mai, now not looking so confident "If I can't attack, I'll keep my defences up. I switch all my monsters to defence mode and end my turn."
"I summon Queen's Knight (1500/1600), in attack mode," a woman in armour appeared on the field "Dark Magician of Chaos, attack her Harpie's Brother! End turn!"
"I set two cards and end my turn," said Mai.
"I summon King's Knight (1600/1400)," a man in royal armour appeared on the field "in attack mode! When King's Knight is summoned when Queen's Knight is in play, I can Special Summon Jack's Knight (1900/1000) to play, in attack mode!" another man in armour appeared. End turn!"
"Last turn," said Mai "I flip summon Magician of Faith (300/400), allowing me to return one magic card to my hand. I put Magician of Faith in defence mode. End turn."
"I tribute Queen's Knight and Jack's Knight to summon Buster Blader (2600/2300). Dark Magician of Chaos, attack her Harpie Lady Sisters! End turn!"
"I play Monster Reborn, bringing Harpie's Pet Dragon back to play. Harpie's Pet Dragon's attack and defence get a 300 point boost for each Harpie Lady on the field, so it's a (2300/2800). Next, I play Raigeki, destroying all your monsters!"
"Not today," said Yami "Anti-Raigeki!"
Mai was horrified when, instead of incinerating Yami's monsters, the lightning bolt hit her own creatures.
"I resign," she said, bowing her head.
MAI: RESIGNED

"Ladies and gentlemen," said Judge Komo, "The winner of the second round of the Battle City Duel Monsters Tournament, Yugi Mutou!"
