Chapter 13: Girl Talk

"Oh gosh, they're at it again," Jules groaned. She stopped just short of entering the room with Tala right behind her.
"I kinda figured he'd be a little pissed at her," Tala confessed.
"Why do they have to be all over each other all the time?" Jules huffed crossing her arms and unconsciously leaning back to rest on Tala's chest. Tala's eyes widened with shock but he didn't say anything. "It's a public place damn it but they don't seem to care, they just keep macking."
"Well technically they aren't in public," Tala contradicted her. "And it's starting to sound like someone is jealous again."
"I'm not jealous," Jules snapped and she turned to face him. Tala frowned at the loss of her closeness. "I don't need some guy to make out with."
"And are you saying that I do?" Tala raised an eyebrow and the petite brunette.
"Yeah I think I am," Jules countered in a know it all tone.
"You think you have everyone figured out don't you?' Tala chuckled mockingly. "You think you have me all figured out, but you haven't even given me a chance have you?"
"You're right," Jules agreed. Tala smiled but it didn't last long when he realized she wasn't finished yet. "But unlike you I don't have a reputation of being the biggest player in all of Beyblading."
"So you're going to listen to everyone else?"
"I don't really have anything else to go on now do I?"
"Jules…" Tala tried to defend himself but she walked away from him and into Amara's hospital room.
"Is that all you two ever do?" Amara pulled away from Kai to look at her disgruntled friend. "You're gonna suck his lips right off his bloody face."
"Oh Jules," Amara sighed with a smile. "It was only a kiss."
"Where have I heard that before?" Tala groaned making his presence in the room known. Jules turned and shot him a glare. Amara looked from Jules to Tala feeling completely confused.
"Alright…so can we help you two?" Kai asked regaining the attention of the intruders.
"Others want to see how Amara is doing too ya know," Jules replied.
"Yes," Tala agreed quickly. "And it's obvious that you too have had enough time to work things out."
"Yes, everything is fine and I will be able to go home with you guys tonight," Amara informed them.
"Great!" Jules replied. "I'll go tell the others." She turned on her heel and dashed out of the room before anyone had a chance to say anything.
"Is she feeling alright?" Kai asked, directing the question to his red haired friend.
"Is everything okay between you too?" Amara questioned.
"Yeah, everything is just peachy." Tala rolled his eyes and left the room before they asked him any more questions that had to do with the little brown haired spitfire.
"Would you stop worrying," Amara scolded Kai with a smile. She had just informed him of the sleeping arrangement for the night and he was less than pleased. The rest of the girls were already upstairs and the guys had ventured down to the basement.
"I know I said I didn't want you sleeping alone up there, but how can five of you share a king size bed?" Kai asked her.
"There's plenty of room and we don't care if it's a little cramped," Amara put a reassuring hand on his arm. "Besides I grabbed these extra blankets just in case one of us ends up on the floor." Amara patted the blankets in her arms.
"Are you sure you're up to it?"
"Kai, I'm not a baby," Amara put the blankets down on the island in the kitchen where they were talking so she could wrap her arms around Kai's neck. "If anything my friends are what I need right now, okay?"
"I know," Kai agreed. He circled her waist with his hands and pulled her closer to him. "I just don't want anything else to happen to you."
"Just because I've hurt myself a few times doesn't mean I'm gonna fall apart. I'm not made of glass ya know." Amara cupped Kai's face in her hands and leaned forward so their foreheads were touching. "I'll be fine."
"I know," Kai sighed. "You proved today that you could take care of yourself."
"Kai…I l…"
"Hey Ams, would you hurry it up down there," Kiki called down from the loft.
"We need our provisions," Cat added. "We can't start girl talk without you."
"I'm coming," Amara yelled back. She let go of Kai and walked over to the cupboards where they put the junk food. Amara pulled down a few bags of chips and poured the contents into large plastic bowls.
"Girl talk?" Kai's eyebrow shot up. "Should I be worried?" He leaned on his elbows against the island counter top and watched her.
"You know they're gonna be asking me about us." Amara leaned on the counter across from Kai so their faces were almost touching.
"Obviously, since we're just so interesting," Kai smirked. He leaned forward and kissed her but he was only allowed a teasing taste before Amara pulled back.
"I should get up there before they send out the dogs looking for me," Amara sighed pushing herself up from the counter. Kai nodded with a scowl. "It's really hard to leave you when you're pouting like that." Amara put her hands on her hips.
"I'm not pouting."
"Sure you aren't," she agreed. "That's why you're giving my puppy dog eyes and making your bottom lip stick out." He looked too kissable that Amara couldn't help herself.
The blankets and chips were forgotten again Amara grabbed the front of Kai's t-shirt and pulled him towards her bringing her lips to his. Kai complied willingly; bring his hand up to cup the back of her neck to deepen the kiss.
"Amara Jones stop sucking face and get your ass up here!" Jules screeched at them. Amara reluctantly let Kai's lips go but still hung on to the front of his shirt. She turned to glare at her friend but she was nowhere to be seen.
"Lucky guess," Kai shrugged, his hands now resting on Amara's waist.
"She knows us to well," Amara smiled, kissing him quickly. "Now I really gotta go."
"Good night."
"Night." Amara grabbed her stuff and headed for the staircase.
"It's about time you got your ass up here," Kiki scolded Amara as soon as she entered the large bedroom.
"Sorry, I had to say goodnight to Kai," Amara shrugged, dropping the stack of blankets on the floor.
"For fifteen minutes?" Jules asked skeptically. Amara just shrugged again and flopped down on the large bed beside Mico.
"Cut her a break guys," Cat stood up for Amara. "We all are the same way."
"I'm not," Jules snapped defensively.
"Oops, sorry Jules," Cat apologized. The small blonde's cheeks reddened.
"It's okay, it's been a reality forever now," Jules replied glumly. "You'd think I'd be use to it." Sympathetic glances were shot her way.
"What about Tala?" Amara inquired grabbing a handful of chips from the bowl in front of her.
"Yeah I've been noticing the way he looks at you," Kiki added.
Jules rolled her eyes. "I don't know. I really liked him before and then he kissed me…"
"He what?!?!" all four girls shrieked at once.
"When was this?" Cat asked.
"Before we came here," Jules informed them. "We left the room since Amara and Kai were fondling each other again." Amara gave them a 'what' looked when all eyes suddenly shot to her. "We were talking in the hallway and he just kissed me."
"That's so sweet," Cat gushed. "Nicholai use to be like that, but he's not really anymore…he…"
"Okay stop!" Kiki cut her off. "I don't want to hear any of your dirty deeds with my brother."
"I wasn't gonna say anything like that Keeks," Cat shot back defensively. "I was just going to say how much of a gentlemen your brother always is."
"Riiiiight, cause that's how I would describe Nicky," Kiki agreed in a patronizing tone. Cat rolled her eyes.
"Kenny's never really been that way," Mico mused. "He use to always ask me before he would kiss me."
"Yeah, and then there's Tyson," Kiki joined in. "He's in a class all his own but he's a good kisser." All the girls went into their own thoughts for a minute. "So did you not like the kiss or what?" Kiki turned the attention back to Jules.
"No, actually I liked it a lot," Jules admitted. "I kinda snapped at him afterwards though."
"Why?" Cat asked lying down on her stomach her full attention on Jules.
"Well, you guys have heard his reputation before and I guess I didn't want to be some play thing of his that he keeps around just for now."
"I think it was smart of you to do that," Kiki commended her. "The guy has got to know his territory."
"Yeah, but how do I go back on it now that I actually do like him? I can't keep up the 'I hate you' act forever," Jules begged them for advice.
"I have a feeling Tala will forgive you," Amara smiled at her distraught friend.
"Just go up and plant one on him," Kiki told her. "That will let him know straight out that you've changed your mind. He'll reciprocate I'm sure."
"I think we all agree that he likes you," Mico put a reassuring hand on Jules' shoulder.
"I hope you guys are right," Jules whimpered. "Because I really really like him." Jules admitted sheepishly.
"Ah! I knew it," Cat beamed.
"It wasn't that hard to figure out Cat," Amara chuckled, whacking her cousin over the head with a pillow.
"I do blondes proud," Cat smiled proudly. She grabbed a pillow and made a move to hit Amara back, but she ducked and ended up hitting Kiki in the back of the head.
"Hey!"
"Sorry K…" Kiki wailing her back in the face with a pillow cut off Cat's apology.
"Pillow fight!" Jules screamed jumping onto the bed with a pillow poised over her head.
"I so wish I was a chick right now," Tala sighed longingly.
"I bet you do," Kai chuckled. Tala and Kai were on the main floor raiding the fridge and had heard Jules' declaration.
"I would also love to know what they were talking about."
"Me too," Kai agreed grabbing a can of coke out of the fridge.
"I'm hot," Cat declared a few minutes later. The girls had fallen into an exhausted heap on the bed.
"Somebody is a little vain," Jules chirped whacking Cat one more time with the pillow.
"Oh go jump in the lake," Cat huffed.
"Cat, you're a genius," Amara smiled. "Let's go in the lake."
"You're kidding?" Kiki frowned. "It's almost two in the morning."
"I think it's bloody brilliant," Jules added excitedly.
"Don't you think we'll wake someone up?" Mico asked hesitantly.
"Nah, none of the houses are that close to the lake," Amara told her. "Come on let's go." Amara got off the bed and headed for the door.
"Aren't you gonna put your swim suit on?" Kiki called after her.
"Nah, a tank top and shorts are close enough," Amara shrugged continuing on her way down stairs. The other girls weren't far behind.
"Girl talk over already?" Kai inquired of his girlfriend when she suddenly appeared in the family room beside the kitchen.
"Nope, just a little intermission," Amara smirked opening the patio door and disappearing into the darkness. Kai watched as the rest of the girls followed suit, his brows furrowed in confusion.
"Where are you guys going?" Tala asked Cat who was the last to go through the door.
"Swimming."
"Maybe you should come with us," Jules reappeared. "We might need some protecting, being all alone in the dark and all." She gave a suggestive wink then was gone.
"And you said she didn't like you," Kai jabbed his friend with his elbow.
"Damn, she's confusing," Tala gawked at the doorway where she had just been. "First she's telling me to stay away and now she's giving me an open invitation to pursue her."
"Take it while you can," Kai advised with a smile. "Since I'll be marrying her in a year."
"Thanks for the assurance man," Tala grumbled.
"Anytime."
"Well are we gonna go?"
"I think so," Kai moved for the door to the basement. "Let's get the others."

There you have it…chapter 13. I hate to say this but the story just might be coming to an end very soon. I don't really want to drag it out for too long and I already see an end in sight. I'm doubting there will be a sequel to this sequel but I think I'll write another story with Amara and Kai. Anyways that won't be for a while because I'm not done this one yet. Anyways I hope you enjoy this chapter and the ones to come. Please read and review ;)
