Peter sat, tired and alone, gazing out through the small window of his little tree-hut. How he missed Wendy, he missed her with all his gentle, boyish little heart! He took out the piece of paper he had written on so long ago, and read it, as tears dropped from his lifeless eyes. They splattered the yellowing parchment, which he crumpled into a ball and threw it onto the stone hearth to burn. Tinkerbell, knowing how much this small note must mean, to make Peter cry like that, went and retrieved it silently. While Peter was turned and seemed to not know she was there, she un-crumpled the paper and read it:

Raindrops fall on a summer day

Warm and sweet, hitting your face

Your smile glimmers as you run

Happy and loving and free

And then you are gone

Just as quickly as you came

No more smiles radiating through the water

No more tender words of reassurance

Waiting and watching are all I can do

As I sit by the window, watching

Raindrops fall on a summer day

Snow twinkles down in the middle of winter

Cold and fresh, dotting your eye lashes with white

Your laugh chimes as you fall in the deep, white powder

Joyful and caring and inhibited

And then you are gone

Just as quickly as you came

No more laughs filtering through the cold air

No more gentle hugs of hope

Waiting and watching are all I can do

As I sit by the window, watching as

Snow twinkles down in the middle of winter

Flowers blossom at the end of a tender spring

New and gentle, glowing next to your tender pink face

Your radiant eyes shine as each flower finds itself under your caring, tranquil hands

Sweet and musical and blissful

And then you are gone

Just as quickly as you came

No more songs of love bending around the sprouting trees

No more loving hands of yours to hold and make me believe

Waiting and watching are all I can do

As I sit by the window, watching as

Flowers blossom at the end of a tender spring

Leaves fall and crunch during a crisp fall day

Glowing of orange and yellow next to your ruby red smile

Your cheeks glow of joy as you run through the piles of lustrous leaves

Pleasurable and cheery and bubbly

And then you are gone

Just as quickly as you came

No more giggling jumping around my wind-blown face

No more sweet touches of optimism

Waiting and watching are all I can do

As I sit by the window, watching as

Leaves fall and crunch during a crisp fall day.

Tinkerbell felt her heart burst with emotion. The poem signified everything Peter ever loved in Wendy Darling, and everything she herself had hated in her. She hated how her smiles made Peter glow with happiness, how her words gave Peter reassurance, how her laughter made Peter look up, how her hugs gave Peter hope, how she sang songs of love that made their way to Peter's beckoning ears, how just holding her small, white little hand made him believe in everything, how her giggles warmed even the coldest of Peter's face, and how her brief touches on his shoulder or arm gave him optimism. She hated that. But here…Tink felt a small drop of water dribble down her cheek. How could she cry at such a disgusting poem, how? She and Wendy had become closer, Tink had to admit, and this poem told Tink just how much Wendy meant to Peter. If only she could bring her back….Tinkerbell felt another burst of emotion in her heart. For as much as she hated Wendy and detested the love Peter showed her, she wanted Peter to be happy. Again, she thought, if only she could bring Wendy back…

But, alas, she couldn't.
