I love the pairing of RyouXRetasu, so I decided to do a one-shot for them. It's rather short, but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway!

Starlight

Starlight, starbright, first star I see tonight…

Retasu let out a forlorn sigh as she stared wistfully up at the stars, scattered throughout the night sky. It had rained earlier that day, and remnants of gray clouds could still be seen hovering over the stars and hiding them from her gaze. She had finally done it that day; she had kissed Shirogane-san.

"But he was unconscious…It was only to save his life," the mew whispered sadly to herself. "That kiss meant nothing, and anyway, he likes Ichigo-san, not me."

Another sigh escaped her lips and she leaned forward so that her face was pressed against the cold glass of the windowpane.

I wish I may, I wish I might…

It was useless to have any feelings for Shirogane-san. He wouldn't return them, and it would be selfish to say anything to him, when he already that had someone that he cared for.

Maybe this was how he felt about Ichigo-san. She and Masaya were always together, and she didn't seem to have any clue that Shirogane-san possibly thought of her as something more than just an employee and a mew.

…have this wish I wish tonight…

A faint glimmer through the clouds caught Retatsu's attention, and she quickly glanced up to discover a shooting star, breaking its way through the clouds as it plummeted downwards.

"It would be selfish to wish that Shirogane-san and I could be together…but it's just a wish; it won't actually come true…"

Giving in to temptation, Retasu clasped her hands tightly together and, closing her eyes, she held them to her chest.

"I wish that Shirogane-san loved me." She spoke softly, her face flushed from embarrassment even though no one was around to hear her wish.

The girl yawned, and she took the glasses that framed her blue eyes off and placed them on her bedside table. She climbed into bed as she pulled the dark green comforter over her. Even if Shirogane-san was only a friend, even if he didn't love her, she would continue to have these feelings for him, just as he did for Ichigo-san. And eventually, maybe, she'd even gain the courage to tell him how she felt.
