I trusted you.
I let you guide me
along a dangerous road,
while I turned a blind eye.
I saw the wrongs you did,
but I let them pass.
I saw the people you hurt,
and I didn't say a word.
Then you did it to me,
and now I see that I was wrong all along.
I don't know why
I put my self in this abusive friendship we have.
Now I have a chance to break away,
and to start over.
I've taken that chance,
and nothing will change my mind.
I am ashamed
to think of what it took for me to see this,
and how long ago I should have taken this chance.
But I'll live with that,
and learn from it.
