Hola!
It's just me; I'm here putting up another one-shot which took me like five minutes. So much fun. This is just Snape's POV of the first Sorting. See ya.
Oh, and since he's a Potions Master, and skilled mind reader, he can tell what the Sorting Hat says, okay?
You may be wondering just what's gotten me into one of my moods today. One word.
Potter.
He looks so bloody much like his father. I have no doubt he'll end up just like him, blown up in bits. His eyes hold the same glint of mischievous and hatred. It's strange to see his father with his mother's eyes.
I knew there was a reason I should have taken a year off.
His father was such a git. The prat barely knew which end of a wand to hold; let alone how to cast a spell. He and his friends thought they were so much better then I was. Now look where they are. Two are dead, both murdered, one is in prison and one is a werewolf. And I'm a Potions Master and a Professor at Hogwarts. Not bad, if you ask me.
Of course, there's the small fact that I can't stand kids.
This year, they all look like total dunderheads. But, I'm listening intently to the hat's mutterings to see who might excel in potions.
Granger, Hermione. According to the hat, she has so much Slytherin in her, but she's muggle-born. Ambitious, a thirst to prove herself. She has so much power. But she's also a bookworm. I can hear the hat pondering about where to put her. It takes a while, although not the longest ever. I've heard much longer. I know, I was one of them.
Finally, the hat puts her in Gryffindor. I inwardly groan. She has so much potential, and all because of her stupid house, now I'm going to have to attempt to squash it all. Maybe I'll be able to convince the other teachers to keep her spirits up, so that I don't look like I'm going soft. The Dark Lord will rise, and soon. I can't let him think I care about a muggle-born.
Longbottom, Neville. This boy, I go against my own character and pity. He had such a strong spell cast on him at such a young age. He's probably going to have very little skills in the magical world. I wouldn't be surprised to see some brain damage as well. The hat considers putting him in Hufflepuff. No doubt a bit nervous too. Hope he gets some backbone before my class. I can't baby Gryffindors. It would make me look bad.
Malfoy, Draco. This boy makes shivers go down my spine. Mental shivers, of course, as I don't shiver. But he looks so much like his father too. No doubt going to follow the same path. I'll have to keep a close eye on him.
Potter, Harry. There are whispers at this name. Hope he doesn't let it go to his head. I certainly won't. Oh, but if Rita Skeeter could hear what the hat is telling him. Slytherin to the core, but the hat listens to him and puts him in Gryffindor. Of course. Everyone listens to bloody Potter.
Weasley, Ronald. Ha! The whole lot of them have been in Gryffindor. Why bother wasting the sorting hat's time by sorting them at all? All the hat tells him is 'Weasley, huh? Gryffindor.'
Even their hair suggests a gryffindor heart.
Looks like I'm in for a good year, huh?
There, all done. It's sort, sweet and to the point. :Grins:
Review, PLEASE!
