"You're alive!"
He's never felt this happy. In all his life, in 900 years, he's never felt so happy that his hearts might actually burst.
"Can't get rid of me."
Don't joke, he thinks desperately. Oh, God, please don't joke like that, I can't take it, I was so afraid; I really thought I'd lost you for good.
"I thought you were dead!"
He's angry; not at her, no way – just in general. In his mind, in his heart, she'd been dead for a while. Now she's back. And there's no way in hell that he's going to give her up this time.
