Summary: Zelda angsts over sending Link off to save the world. Please R&R!
Leap Of Faith
It was surreal. Probably stupid. She wasn't sure why she had done it. How could she expect a child to save the world? What had she been thinking? She had sent an perfectly innocent little boy to his death because of a dream. She must have lost her grip on reality. It had seemed the right thing to do in the spur of the moment; the 'hero of time' and all that. Now that she thought about it, she had been wishing for something to happen for so long she could have just dreamed this all up herself. Only she hadn't. She had made a kid believe he was important and sent him off to almost certain doom. Impa had probably only agreed to it all to keep her occupied for a time- not constantly complaining, or sat in mournful silence. Maybe that was an unfair thought; her guardian worked in ways she could not understand.
Waiting was unbearable. She wanted to believe he would come back. Wanted to believe what she had told him was true, wanted to believe that the poor little thing wasn't going to find death at the claws of a monster. Or worse. If she could just take a leap of faith and believe her instincts, maybe this wouldn't be so unbearable. But you can only take a leap of faith when you believe there's something to leap onto, and all she could see was an empty space.
She wanted to take back what she had told him. Let everything go back to its normal peace, let the child have a chance at living. Yet she knew it was impossible. No matter if he was the hero of time or not- Ganondorf was evil, she knew that. So even if she couldn't go forward, there was no way back. She'd just have to keep waiting; because, for now, she was still a child and she was too afraid of falling to leap anywhere.
Thx for the review Atchika- i guess it is a bit mature for young Zelda! I was just bored, and this is the result. :) I went over it quickly again, anyhow.
