Replacement Ninja

By Goldarmy

Disclaimer: This work is a fanfiction. That is all there is to say.

The Snake. The Toad. The Slug.

One pierces. One crushes. One covers.

I stood there and watched the reunion of the two person.

The one who was silent and morose, and the one who was very cheerful and bright.

He was no longer a boy but a handsome man in a plain kimono, no headband adorned his head.

She was no longer a girl but a beatiful woman in a one piece red dress, no headband adorned her head.

Malice could be read in the eyes and the smile of one despite looking fatigued.

A mixture of anger and sorrow could be seen on the face of the other.

Why is this scene familiar?

They didn't meet in an alley as once their masters did, but in a restaurant. The cook was watching them and their assistants suspiciously, while waitresses and customers ignored them.

She had a restless girl called something like Moimi with her.

As for him, I am nearing forty and my hair has started to turn white, yet I am still stuck as the right hand man.

What is this, deja vu?

One claimed searching everywhere, the other told not to waste time by talking about past.

One asked a favour of healing, the other asked what happened to the hands in bandages.

One replied in a sarcastic tone that it was a parting gift from the deceased Hokage, the other suggested crawling into a hole and dying there.

One said there would be a reward in return, the other threatened to kill after counting ten.

Who are these two?

I secretly put shurikens into my left hand.

Are they successors or merely shadows?

The cook sensed that there will be trouble, though it will be worse than he can ever imagine.

Is following others footsteps all they can do?

Under glares of the other girl I pushed my glasses to my nose with my finger.

Does anything change?

"I will fix your eyes."

The words hit us like a bucket of icy water.

"My dear Sasuke, it seems I must make a very attractive offer considering your aversion to your masters revival techniques. I will need the use of my hands in near time."

"You alone possess the healing acceleration technique that my old master refused to teach me. And only I can make your eyes use Sharingan again and bring the people that you regret their loss back to life."

"You will regain your birthright and maybe you can end this pathetic self-exile. I will restore my power in a day instead of weeks."

She tilted her head to one side and her smile widened.

"You will just speed up a process that would happen eventually, besides the Sasuke I know never says no to power."

I readied myself to deflect any attack, to us or bystanders, as I waited for the response of Sasuke-kun. One of the three cursed ninjas and the last of the Uchihas.

All things change in one way or another, and we change with them.

Author's Note: Well here is my first fanfiction, I hope it wasn't too predictable. The idea for this work came to me while I was reading "Carbon Copy" by Naruke. Would Sasuke and Sakura become their counterparts to such an extent that they would have a meeting in future like Orochi and Tsunade? Then I decided to write this since the three of them represents rock, scissor, paper; both Naruto and Sasuke carries a darkness inside them and why not Sakura?
