Mourne ye Venuses and Cupids
Disclaimer: Apparently I'm supposed to put one of these⦠I do not own the Iliad or any of the characters contained within. Nor do I own any of Catullus' poems, or indeed Catullus himself (although if I did certain areas of my life would be far more disturbingā¦) I do however own several well used copies of both texts and so feel justified in shamelessly parodying Catullus in this way!
Mourne ye Venuses and Cupids,
For Achilles' Patroklos is dead,
Patroklos, who belonged to Achilles,
Patroklos, the delight of Achilles,
Who used to wear Achilles' armour
And would fight now here, now there
Killing for Achilles' pleasure alone,
Who now has his eyes covered by cruel darkness.
Wretched, cruel Patroklos.
It is in revenge for you
That the spear tip of Achilles turns red.
